Tony Royster jr. - then 12 years old - Appearance Modern Drummer Festival 1997...more Videos here at DRUMMERWORLD: www.drummerworld.com #tonyroysterjr #drummerworld
40 years of drumming and trying to always finid the best musicians possible, this might be the most perfect, well put-together drum solos I have ever, I mean ever heard.
Yeah, that's what really struck me too. For all the weapons-grade technique on display, his sense and execution of color, timing, drama and long-range form building are astonishing for a person of his age. It's positively Mozart-ian.
For a 12 year old to explore ideas and return to them later to the extent that Tony did in this solo is remarkable. Nevermind the flawless execution..!
i remember when i was 12 and only a few months into playing, i saw this video and felt like giving up, but eventually it became a great motivator. classic solo
All things considered, this is still the most shocking drumming showcase I've ever seen. This is above Buddy Rich. That a twelve-year-old could play it is nothing short of a miracle. I know this is an insane statement, but this was Tony Royster's peak. He never performed anything as unbelievable as this.

I remember seeing this at the music store I took lessons at. This is how you know that someone is a legit prodigy.

빨리 드럼을 포기한것도 현명한 선택이였지요
