Wes & JP did an amazing job covering this disasterous day. These 2 guys saved so many lives that day. Im watching this 13yrs later , & it still shakes me up like it did in 2011
If the tornado's path was 5 miles further south, we may be talking about one of the worst tornado disasters in American history. Would've been 5x worse than Joplin.

That would've included the heart of Birmingham, especially downtown
Thank God downtown Birmingham got spared from the ultimate and worst tornado disaster in American history it would have suffered had the tornado made a right turn and made a B-line for the heart of the city .. the unbelievable part was debris falling over the place from the sky, that gave you an idea of how strong them tornadoes were that day

I will never forget being 10 in 4th grade I lived in fairfield, looking up outside and seeing so much debree the sky lighting up and a plastic bag flying *I should’ve been taking cover lol* we lived im a trailer park and a trailer in the neighborhood was completely gone with a fallen tree in its place, the power was out for about a week im 21 now and today is a first alert weather day, thank you for all yalls hard work.🫶🏻
Thanks God it never did hit over in Hoover Alabama it would have wiped out everything in its path this was one of the worst Tornado in weather history
I lived in Hoover at the time and remember my mom telling me it could head my way. Thankfully it didn’t. We had no power all day since the storm that hit Cahaba Heights that morning blew our transformer. So I only had her texts to keep me updated that day.
The reverb is really bad on this video. I would have expected better from a TV station.

I know , you'd think that the quality checkers of UA-cam would be more proactive, much like their quick to act with feelings being hurt and opinion that could cause discourse and frightfully disagreement.
Fricken Reverb is the Bugaboo of all things righteous and proper.
Yes, there are ways to clean up this video a little bit. But you also have to remember when all this was going on, almost all of local TV stations were running on generator power and were having issues with some of their equipment because of it.
Remember, this was happening during the second wave of the event in the afternoon and people were still dealing with power outages, issues and damage from the early morning wave that lasted from 3:30 am that morning till about 10 am.
@@706KayakFishing You're a bigger man than I, because you haven't to explain the minut audio fx or the understandable but not "normal " for broadcast quality adversities. This job you do is much more likely to save lives and help or assist others plan their day, rhe job you need not do is explain to porkypine "need for conjecture" need for a reply to prove that someone will show they exist.
These types win if you don't acknowledge them, because they continue to scale up their dissatisfaction for not being replied to and vier off the subject of whatever, like reverb.
This is why you explained yourself and the adversities of that day, because the alternative is what I Just wrote.
But I vomit type and this too is a shortcoming of mine, or many.
Maybe because it seems needy, only In the time of text and short form communication has the detailed summary be shamed and called 'a Novel" because the times are a changing and reading is a task, such a time consuming task and so 1990's.
I oddly enjoyed the reverb. IDK why.
