I’m brand new to dj ing, but have been fascinated for years. I just picked up a Flx4 to start off with. I like the seamless integration with Rekordbox as well as the new innovations Pioneer has incorporated. This is only a hobby for me currently, as I’m primarily a professional musician, but I wanted a controller that was professional while still approachable.
I’m a complete beginner to this. I used an iPad app to DJ a party and I’m now interested in buying one of these controllers. I’m not trying to break the bank either
I love my DDJ-REV1 got this magnificent little controller when it first came out. A huge upgrade from my DDJ-SB3. Many DJ’s have the REV1 as a backup to their primary system. Personally my REV1 is my workhorse device taken to most gigs. My Wedding, Formal event, larger client device is my RANE ONE. The ONLY thing I would change on the REV1 is give it RGB lighting! Those Amber lights don’t inspire much and DJing daytime events outside 🤷🏽♂️🤣 you can barely see the glow.
Quick question, are you able to mix with just your headphones with REV1? I don't mean monitor or cue. I want to get back into DJing (used to battle layout) but want to slowly upgrade, speakers and than on to Rane One or REV7. If I can mix in my headphones than I'm sold on a REV1
I recently got the rev 1 for Christmas and I love it especially the jog wheels and it's very sturdy for a controller and doesn't feel to plastic like some controllers and also love the tempo feature on top
@@migueljorge513 i am checking the controllers ok with serato, because before i mixed with technics mk2 with serato and love it ..... I see the flx4, the rev1, numark Platinium and the Roland DJ202 ..... its for mix at home and if needed take it in a bar in Brussels (thus must not be a toy).
GOOD REVIEW! FLX4 looks more mid-level entry-level style. My friend had a old Pioneer 1000STR4 and let me borrow it for a while, it was fun jamming together tracks on something pretty new age retro. The STR4 has a intergrated controller for playing one CD Disk in the unit and I think one or two possibly 1/4 inch inputs L/R. A long way weve come! Im picking up the DDJ-REV1 today!
It is a DOPE controller. Nice and easy to transport, and built solid. It can do all of the basic techniques one would need to basic DJing and effects. I was told that it can also do stems as well "but" that feature I have not tried. @@Brunoso007
Going from actual vinyl turntables - Got the REV1 - real nice esp if you are a Hiphop DJ - I’m trying to see if you can add your OWN fx to the fx switch. I want it to completely cut out the audio when hitting that switch instead of one of those FX - in serato PRO -
Of these two i chose the Numark Platinum FX. Rekordbox does not feature stems so it's not much of a solution. Unfortunately I'll probably have to buy Virtual DJ as it seems better than Serato.
I have the DDJ Rev 1-N and I use it with DJay Pro Ai. It is awesome! I learned to spin a long time ago on the 2nd Gen CDJs. I like the layout on the Rev1 and the paddle effects are super awesome!
I own a ddj-sx and I still prefer my rev1 lol it’s design is super comfortable it’s got just what you need and not a lot of extra bells n whistles that are unnecessary at the end of the day but that’s just my preference
I hate the play button being on the outside bottom corner of the Rev1. It's too easy to accidentally hit it when you reach for your mouse. I'm thinking about selling it and switching to a rekordbox controller.
i'm music producer and beginner rapper but never used DJ! yea i do all my stuff in my productions softwares so my question is can these help or work with software like FL studio and Cubase? or it's just for mixing music in parties? when im on stage i got dj already playing my music and add effects but never used DJ so i'm just wondering, thank you
I'm coming from the old school using turntables and records I already understand the process of a dj with mixing and scratching, I just want to dj small parties and gigs so which one would you recommend out of these 2?
great video, do you know if rekordbox is going to have stems built in the software like serato and is that going to be a paid upgrade? i currently have the ddi rx controller with rekordbox but would love to be able to try out stems would i have to get a new controller to try it or is it worth waiting to see if rekordbox do something?
In terms of design, the Flx4 is the better one because the rev1 has a DJ battle design with large jogwheels and components being arranged like they would be on turntables rather than a setup that optimizes in conventional mixing like the Flx4. Me personally I like the rev1 better because it's much bigger and I'm a huge fan of the design lol, but realistically either one would work lol
wait so i need to spend like $400 dollars on the controller and pay for the subscription to actually get my songs from soundcloud. Kind of a rip off no?
If anyone is interested - I have a MIDI mapping for djay Pro / FLX4 (posted on the Algoriddim community forums). Works on iOS, macOS and over Bluetooth.
What is battle djing? I want to start but am clearly brand new to this/clueless lol so not sure which one to choose. I want to mix and mash and remix the most 😎
Battle Dj’s are exactly who he mentioned in the video. If you don’t know who DJ Craze or DJ Jazzy Jeff is then you are probably wanting the FLX4. The Rev1 is set up as if a set of turntables were positioned to where the pitch adjustment sliders are at the top and not the sides like the FLX4. Battle Dj’s who scratch, juggle, and do body tricks set them up this way so the tables would be closer together to the mixer and to keep the pitch adjustment out of the way. If you are just wanting to DJ get the FLX4. If you want to learn to scratch and beat juggle get the Rev1. If you are unfamiliar with the difference look up some YT videos. Search battle DJ’s and watch the competitions. If your into dance music then search for a specific DJ or music style and watch what they are doing. Then come back and make a decision on which style you prefer.
I like the rev 1 but I’m not a fan of serato I like rekord box better and the flex 4 allows you to use both the rev 1 is a serato only controller so I’ll be selling mine
I’m looking for something new. I have the numark mixtrack pro fx and i like it. But thinking about getting the pioneer flx4 but that rev 1 looks nice aswell. Any help fellow dj’s?
