Sophie, you are one of the only creators talking about the cost of living crisis and cost increases. Thank you. You are honestly real about the cost of disney and how expensive it is for the average person and family so thank you for these videos.
Aww thank you so much Marissa! It is sad but I think the number one thing I, and probably most people, think about is the cost. And then you think about all the plans you want to make and things you want to do at Disney afterward, rather than the other way around. Which is so sad because of course you want to just plan your trip out! But trying to make it more affordable is something I think most of us will be doing, particularly at the current time!
I think the meal plans are so hit or miss and if you have any dietary requirements like your daughter you just don't have the variety of options to make it worthwhile. I think it is one of those things that sounds super handy but if you actually work out where you would eat / what you would eat, it doesn't always work out a good deal!
We are used to seeing €2 or €3 increases and that is unpopular but to increase some meals by 25% is wild! I can see a lot of people will be cancelling dining reservations, including myself, as a lot of the restaurants aren't worth the price tag anymore. The downside to this is the quick service restaurants will be busier than ever and they are already overstretched and shut far too early to meet demand. I don't really understand the decision behind all this!
Hi Beki! I am starting up my planning videos soon and this is going to be one of the first ones so I hope it can be helpful! If you have any questions please ask! x
Also a tip is to stay at Davy Crockett (if you're driving) as you get a cabin with a kitchen and you can prepare food and basically go self catering if need be.
@@MostMagicalGuides you’re most welcome, who knew those price increases were just around the corner?! The Auberge de cendrillon price is a shock and the plaza gardens 😬
@@andreakest2018 The character dining meal increases are so wild! I cannot see how they are justified. Neither are worth the price. Charging 80 euro for a buffet is madness!
It is shocking to see such huge price increases! I've never actually seen them raise prices this much at once before! As you say a lot of the restaurants were already very expensive for what they are and now unfortunately a lot do not live up to the price tag at all!
Thank you so much for such a lovely comment! Yes - you totally can bring in your own food! The only restrictions are on large coolers or glass containers so if you avoid them it will be fine!
It is such a shame to have to be thinking about not going to some restaurants you want to try! But I think a lot of people will be doing this! I did enjoy Silver Steakhouse a lot so I hope you have a fab time!
Literally we are on the same page when it comes to dining plans … I’m not vegan but I don’t eat breakfast early (due to stomach issues) I so will be taking breakfast bars with me… and even then I worked out that it would be cheaper to by lunch or dinner (either buffet or QS) and a small snack per day and it would still be cheaper than the dining plan (even with the price increase) which is mad (€8 snack and $40 buffet / or $15 QS z with 4 nights comes to $192 if I was to have buffet each night = £165 saving me £60 as they quoted me £225 for the dining plan for my January trip)
I am so glad I am not the only one that doesn't have a big breakfast and therefore it doesn't make sense financially! Just like you I have one quick service and one table service meals a day and it works out cheaper! I think for some people it may work out but for most people it actually doesn't!
I would actually say it is cheaper to stay offsite and pay the premier access price for individual attractions. Disney opened their dates for April for AP pass holders yesterday. I called at 9am to book and the cheapest hotel (except Davy Crockett) from April 10-14 is 1,300+€ for 1 adult and 2 children. Same dates at residhome, a hotel I like near Val de Europe shopping center is 789€ for the same dates. That is 500€ I have for the premier access pass for 3 people if I need it. I wouldn’t get all that done in extra magic time.
It is super good you found a great deal! That is always the best! 🤩 I'm not an annual passholder so when I have stayed off-site and needed to add the price of tickets to get into the parks often it comes in close to the price of staying at a Disney Hotel. On the occasions it hasn't I've definitely enjoyed staying off-site and saving the money too! For annual pass holders who have paid their entry for the year to enter the parks they can benefit massively from staying off-site and it is definitely the cheapest way to stay at Disneyland Paris with an AP pass! I do think that Extra Magic Hours is the biggest benefit for people staying at a Disneyland Paris hotel and people in that situation should definitely use it to get on the most popular rides so they have shorter queue times and don't need to pay. It's a win win!
Looks like Europe is catching up with the prices here in Norway when it comes to dining 😄 We have always enjoyed cheeper dining when traveling, as a sort of bonus, but lately we see prices going up to the level that is normal here. But for sure, it is a bit drastic and like you said, quality and quantity has not increased. But these types of increases are to be expected when DLP is doing better than ever. It's just business after all. But it sucks that the more we go, the more we must pay. They reworked the Meal Plans as well, decresing some benefits and upping the prices. But I worked out a way to make it worth it for us: We are traveling without kids, and we have no allergies or special diets, so we are lucky enough to eat whatever we want. I am not a big brekkie person, a coffe and a croissant will do, but I looooove brunch. So since we are staying at Sequoia, (thank the gods I booked it months ago, cause our stay has increased by 250£ since!) I worked out that the half board is perfect with the new prices. Since we have extra magic time, we will grab a coffe and enjoy the parks for a few hours in the morning, then head back to Sequoia to use our breakfast voucher for brunch, since they serve breakfast till 11. We can then grab snacks here and there (or a sandwich at Earl if we get hangry) for the rest of the day, and use our second voucher for dinner at the more premium sit downs (or the AMAZING buffet at Sequoia). I am obsessed with Walt's, so will be dining there as much as I can 😄 so it deffo works out cheaper for us to go for half board. But is it just me that have trouble booking tables in advance? By that I mean, since we are staying at an onsite hotell, I usually gett to book via the app sevwral months befor going. But it doesn't seem to work now? Has anyone booked via the phone? Is it easy? Again, thanks for your great DLP videos!! X Rune
I visited Oslo a number of years ago and was not prepared for the costs of dining 🤣🤣 I think Disney increasing prices €2 or €3 across the board people expect (even if it is unpopular). But increasing some menus by 25% is wild. I have a lot of theories about why they may be doing this but I will save it for the next video instead of writing an essay here! 🤣🤣 I am glad the meal plan works out for you. It is one of those things that is either really great or terrible, depending on the way you like to eat / the food you do eat. I think having brunch is such a great idea! I am visiting in March with some friends who added breakfast and I was like you are either gonna have to be up super early to eat before Extra Magic Hours or do a brunch because we can't miss them! 🤣 There is a big problem with dining reservations, which is really bad for people with the meal plan. When I visited with my cousin, she and her husband had purchased it and only got one dining reservation so it was a waste of money as they had to use it on quick service meals. I am going to go into this in my next video as I think the increases could be partly due to this!
Great to hear you visited Oslo! Great city😊 Brunch is my jam for sure, and last visit to DLP I found myself rushing through the lovely brekkie, cause I wanted to get to the parks asap obvi. So heading back after EMT will be good I think. Yes multiple reasons for the increase I think too. Looking forward to hear your theories for sure! Regarding reservations in advance, I have been a bit frustrated cause the option to book for my dates disappeared from the app, BUT I called them today and the lovely person on the other end told me they just opened up for character dining on the 29, even for them working at the customer service. She said it should be back to normal within a few days, allowing guests with hotel reservations to book in advance well ahead of their visits again. So I am obvi checking the app every half hour😄😄 I need my Walt's/Chez Remy/Captain Jack's fix!!

If you are not driving, you can also stay in offsite hotels with a kitchen(ette), such as Apparthotel in Torcy or at Airbnb’s with a kitchen.
