illmcchickens1 He also does at 29:25 but it's covered up a bit by the on-screen image. The director is all the more one of the actors in this than ever before, probably trying to fuck Tim & Gregg up and make them laugh, or at least not caring, going for Maxi-Comedy... Their team gets too little credit. Good job all around, guys. Also: Tim likes his champagne, I think, like he likes his women ... dry
oh my god 25:00 - 25:38, for those 38 seconds of Tim's noises you just know the editor was like "don't cut to him yet, don't cut to him yet, don't cut to him yet. . . . OK NOW"
Tims gone on record saying that Gregg is the funniest person he's ever met. Their behind the scenes for Oscar Special 11 really shows their friendship.
Rewatching this almost 10 years later. My god. Gregg T is truly one of the greatest living artists. And seeing Tim break him and make him laugh a handful of times is just so rare and wonderful. I feel like so many of the little segments and gags they have now since Oscar special 2 is just a bunch of safeguards to make sure that they don’t break out in laughter.
Just discovered OCAC and the thing that gets me is just how professional the show is and how professional and committed Tim is. You can tell how hard he works and how prepared he was for a live show. Even though he is feeling sick he just keeps putting on a great show and showing us what Oscar and Hollywood are all about.
The people I live with must think I am abso-lutely insane. I am watching this and laughing until I can't breathe. Jesus Christ, the random but related images are f*cking killing me. This is my kind of humor, apparently.
Serious question ... was that before or after Steven Spielberg directed Tim in Spaghett and the Golden Treasure? The pairing could be a "subtle" homage to a growing relationship between a master filmmaker and top acting talent?
@@coffinsmoke1385 what world are you living in? Men won best director in 2020, 2019, and 2018. I stopped looking after that, but it probably goes far further back.
To anyone who might read this: You will never, ever get back the feeling of watching this for the first time. Treasure that feeling. I wish I could go back to experience that again!
Sorry about your finger. Edit: the way Gregg gets excited, thinking Peter Jackson won Oscar, then slowly realising he got carried away and settling back into his melancholia was outstanding
The thing that makes me sad about the oscar specials and on cinema as a whole is it has so many layers its impossible to describe to my friends why its so great and funny. its like comedy at its slowest and most deliberate pace I watched every oscar special right in a row over the course of a day or two and it was so hilarious at some point but I can never get that across to another.
I think you have to have a sort of disassociate personality in order to fully get it. Like you have to view everyday life in a sort of meta way that most people never do in order to really be tuned in to this sort of esoteric comedy.
The in dept knowledge of movies coming from Gregg is sometimes astonishing. I just learnt that Tom Hanks could play an older character because he's aging.

1:02:17 Tim leaves, Gregg almost breaks character and continues to try and keep the show going. Again..
1:07:55 Tim spills his ice, hitting Gregg in the face and getting it all over his VHS tapes
1:10:11 Tim apologizes for being drunk. Starts crying. Throws up on Greggs tapes. Then cries some more.
1:11:46 The absolute state of the set. Ice, tapes, popcorn and popcorn-vomit everywhere..
1:15:38 Tim suggests to Gregg that vomiting on his beloved VHS collection will be a fond memory.
1:16:15 Tim accidentally wipes off John Aprea’s signature from Gregg’s Godfather 2 VHS. Gregg trying so desperately to stay in character and quickly gets out of there.
[Everything between these two time stamps is nothing but fake apologies, fake gifts and broken promises]
1:32:30 “ No NO! No! NO! NO! Yes! No! For real. No! FOR REAL! NO! NO! NO!”
1:38:30 The Hobbit doesn’t win Best Picture. Gregg looking like a kid who didn’t get what he wanted for his birthday.
1:39:13 After all the “apologizing” to Gregg for messing up his VHS tapes, Tim kicks them across the floor after The Hobbit doesn’t win Best Picture. At this point Gregg clearly doesn’t give a shit anymore.

they break the character so many times
so good
It still blows my mind every time they say Oscar, rather than 'the Oscars'. So funny
Alright let’s go red carpet.
I watched this after watching all 9 seasons... things were much simpler here.
Logan Cheese this is my first watch through and just this first Oscar special is a dumpster fire, you’re telling me it gets worse?
@@gregmichales1778 Prepare to catch a case of Oscar fever.
@@gregmichales1778 I'm on my first watch through as well. This is so amazing and can't believe I haven't seen these before.

30:04 Tim almost loses it
Such a magical moment
Gregs face is millimeters away from imploding
3:03 "I'm lost"
Not even 5 minutes in. I love this show so much.
its worth it to watch this entire thing... this is so ridiculous
Gregg Turkington is the funniest man alive.
Actually Oscar is the funniest man alive.
Agreed
Def a fellow Gregghead here.
Funniest guest alive.
Has a lot to offer all you Greggheads out there
Gregg is so good at not laughing. Sometimes Tim gets a little smirk though, he can't help it. Gregg always wins!!
look at 50:17 its so funny lol greg kinda smirks but i think its the only time he does lol
illmcchickens1
Hahaha! good find
i probably laughed for an hour straight watching this i feel bad for people who do not get what they are doing, genius is the only term for it
illmcchickens1 He also does at 29:25 but it's covered up a bit by the on-screen image. The director is all the more one of the actors in this than ever before, probably trying to fuck Tim & Gregg up and make them laugh, or at least not caring, going for Maxi-Comedy... Their team gets too little credit. Good job all around, guys.
Also: Tim likes his champagne, I think, like he likes his women ... dry
enchantrand-esque 6:30 as well
oh my god 25:00 - 25:38, for those 38 seconds of Tim's noises you just know the editor was like "don't cut to him yet, don't cut to him yet, don't cut to him yet. . . . OK NOW"
"Tim noises" lolool
You can actually catch a glimpse of their friendship from this when they crack up. It's refreshing from how dark on cinema usually is
Tims gone on record saying that Gregg is the funniest person he's ever met. Their behind the scenes for Oscar Special 11 really shows their friendship.
@@mazeful6345 Where can we see behind the scenes stuff?

Imagine a world without the movie expertise of Gregg Turkington.
That would be a nightmare world

I'd rather not
drink a shot whenever that one hobbit picture is displayed
Better have a new liver on standby.
Thanks, you killed my friends.
Oscars 4 is fantastic for character breaks
I wonder how many times Gregg said "The Hobbit"

@Henk de Tank need a supercut of this
I wonder how many times Tim has said “EXCUSE ME!”

I'm so glad to hear that Gregg is willing to sign up for another 100 years. That's dedication, and that's why i'm a Gregg-head.
Tim doesnt get enough credit for how well he portrays someone with a sore finger in this special
I love how he calls it simply "Oscar", like "Gregg, what are your picks for Oscar?"
Just discovered OCAC and the thing that gets me is just how professional the show is and how professional and committed Tim is. You can tell how hard he works and how prepared he was for a live show. Even though he is feeling sick he just keeps putting on a great show and showing us what Oscar and Hollywood are all about.
That's exactly right.
The people I live with must think I am abso-lutely insane. I am watching this and laughing until I can't breathe. Jesus Christ, the random but related images are f*cking killing me. This is my kind of humor, apparently.
It's just 3 boyz livin' in the same old house in the neighborhood.
hutprancer yah that friggin pic of billy crystal
hutprancer the hobbit one is too fucking funny 😂
They're not random, they're delayed.
That janky cut to Spielberg's photo while Tim pukes is one of the funniest things I've seen in my life.
Serious question ... was that before or after Steven Spielberg directed Tim in Spaghett and the Golden Treasure? The pairing could be a "subtle" homage to a growing relationship between a master filmmaker and top acting talent?
I love these men so much
Gregg is spot on with his analysis on Ang Lee. The Oscers don't give best director awards to women.
And he said "Hillary Clinton will be President before a woman gets an Oscar." Lol, let's hope not for the sake of women in Hollywood.
Now they only give it to women or transgender

Edit: the way Gregg gets excited, thinking Peter Jackson won Oscar, then slowly realising he got carried away and settling back into his melancholia was outstanding
Gregg is being incredibly disrespectful to Tim and the entire On Cinema Family
Is there anything more disrespectful than ruining somebody's backup VHS Oscar collection? I don't think so...
You can absolutely see why he'll never truly be cohost. With an attitude like that...
Tim's spiel about how Oscar will "say goodbye to James Bond" is such a brilliant line of bullshit; it makes me laugh, nearly four years later.
GT's response that we may start seeing two Bond movies each year.
He was 7 years too early.

Most of what he says is wrong
@@filo4000 he's impressively wrong
the joke is that he's wrong just about every time he says something though
The thing that makes me sad about the oscar specials and on cinema as a whole is it has so many layers its impossible to describe to my friends why its so great and funny. its like comedy at its slowest and most deliberate pace I watched every oscar special right in a row over the course of a day or two and it was so hilarious at some point but I can never get that across to another.
I think you have to have a sort of disassociate personality in order to fully get it. Like you have to view everyday life in a sort of meta way that most people never do in order to really be tuned in to this sort of esoteric comedy.

The live stream was the highlight of that night for my friends, family and myself! Thank you Tim ! and his guest Gregg
1:11:00 No lie, Tim does the post-drunken-vomit thing so damn well. The faint whimpering, intermittent heavy out-breaths, the slow back-and-forth head shakes of regret...it's perfect. Brings me right back to my teenage years.

The thing that makes this so brilliant is that I know it's fake but Gregg's constant obsession with The Hobbit winning awards its not even nominated for still irks me lmao
We all know there was a massive write-in campaign for it in every category, but Oscar rigged it
