Good to see your content, Eddy. I purchased your basement finishing videos a number of years ago before I finished my basement. It was money well spent. Very helpful.
I finished with a friend my whole basement(around 20,000) with your videos watched all of them. What I can say : GOD BLESS YOU! You make this world better
Thanks for putting this video together. My basement finishing project is nearly complete, with almost all of the work done myself. I will definitely show the cost savings difference to my wife. This comes in handy when I want a new tool or toy for myself. I simply say "I just saved us $20, 000, I'm going to go ahead and buy myself a new grill and table saw". You should consider expanding this video to an entire basement finish.
Hi Kurt! Awesome weapon for convincing wives to let us spend money! Here is the link to the entire basement being priced-out>>> ua-cam.com/video/22jisWKm9gw/v-deo.html
In this Video I Break-down all the materials and their prices for each needed to build a 3/4 bathroom in your basement. If your planning on adding a basement bathroom to your project you should watch this video first! Good luck with your diy projects! ~Eddie
I intend to finish my basement, but in stages, so that I don't have to put out a lot of money all at once. The first and likely the most expensive step will be the bathroom. The only part that I don't want to do by myself is the digging up of the concrete floor and installing the drain system, even though it has been roughed in for me. I bought the house new and I was fortunate on that part, although I still have to slightly re-arrange things. Thanks for the very informative video, and I will be referring back to your channel as I progress.
appreciate you putting all this knowledge at our fingertips. Is the starting price still around $55 sq. ft (given inflation and the increase of materials)? Does this include ceiling drywall? Do all the drywall installed in the basement need to be green/purple, mold resistant?
Great video! I want to use screws instead of nails for my framing. What would you recommend for 2x4 construction? Are there code requirements for screws? Thank you for the help.
Want to send a question your way, I got a basement to do with walls that are already insulated. I wanted to know whether or not insulation batts should still be placed in between the framing studs, seeing that the walls are already isulated?
No shower door...that would be extra Jerry. We figured a curtain on the cheap! A shower door would add an additional $250.00 to $500.00 (Low to high prices) to the bathrooms Grand Total! ~Eddie
I keep forgetting these are USD prices. In Canada these prices are way off. $7.50 for a 2x4 🤦🏽♂️ Even silicone caulking is $15-$17 I’m not even going to get started with the other prices. Sigh. Things are so much cost efficient in America
Wow Larry...! I had know idea that prices were still that high up your way. I not so sure just how efficient thing are in the USA these days...it could and should be lot better than it currently is here.🙄
Interesting to see what the labor per hour breakdown would be for all these contractors. How long would this project take if contractors did the work? Over $19K for labor seems awfully steep. Thanks :)
Hey Seth! Thanks for watching and for the comments! If most General Contractors do not gross $10,000 per week before paying employees, taxes, and other fixed expenditures like office expenses(rent or mortgage), insurances, equipment upkeep, gas-travel expenses and many many others...they wouldn't turn a profit or stay in business very long. 19K does not last long when running a legit construction business! This would be a 2-week project for most remodel contractors.
No I have nothing against them...I just prefer a toilet setup that looks, sounds and feels like a standard toilet. Up-flush toilets are okay I just prefer the standard setup much more. Plus...you have a nicer shower/Tub drain setup as well using the sewage ejector system as you do not have to build your tub or shower base up on a platform so it will drain down-hill to the up-flush toilet setup, which I think looks and feels kind of "cheezy"! ~Eddie
@@BasementFinishingMan I'm a brother :) Troy from Oregon. I've been finishing out a basement on a vacation house for a couple years, working on the weekends when I get the time. 20 years ago maybe 25K...You're obviously not in this business/trades. Trades are a dying career, look for prices to continue to go up for contractor labor in the future as more and more of the older generations of tradesman retire and less and less of the younger generations begin careers in the business. The laws of supply and demand will be reinforced once again. Thanks for watching and for your comments! ~Eddie
He is wrong. There only 7 piece in the bag for 67.81 sqft so to do what he said and insulate the whole bathroom you need 4 for them 9x6 bathroom will be 2 walls at 8x9 144 sqft 2 walls at 6x8 is 96 sqft. so that is 240 sqft divide by 67.81 is 3.59 bags The picture he put up even say 7 bates not 12 and 67.81 sqft.
what planet you are on, $6172 for mat( you do), 9x5 bath, $25500 if contractor do it, i wana know which area is it, so contractor wants $19000 crazy, guys I dont know its a real rip off. in general labour is max 60 to 70% , rest is mat.

I got a basement to do with walls that are already insulated. I wanted to know whether or not insulation batts should still be placed in between the framing studs, seeing that the walls are already isulated?
Yes McGeorge definitely should be insulated between all exterior wall studs...the existing wall wrap insulation is not enough! ~Eddie
These videos are clutch along with your DIY university
Eddy I love your channel!
Great Video - My basement is pre-plumbed what would be the cost savings there? I was estimating about 5K on my own.
Jeff you’re right-on at 5K! -Eddie
A very useful video. Pardon me if I missed it, but I did not see a shower door on the list of fixtures. Was it included in the shower price ?

It's insane a few years ago you would get a whole basement done for 25k by a contractor. Now you get a damn bathroom 😂.

GREAT 👍
That's crazy expensive. My uncle just got a bathroom built in his basment for $5700 parts and labor. Full bathroom
Insulation cost seemed to be for 1 unit rather than all the units needed...
One unit has 12 pieces and that will do the job. ~Eddie
@@BasementFinishingMan thanks
