I am privileged to say that I saw Anna perform this song live at Bush Hall, London, 22/05/12. She sounds even better live than she does recorded. A fantastic performer. Long may she continue.
Excellent artistic choice - it gives me a feeling of being isolated even when people are all around, and the grainy B&W film makes it feel timeless. Thanks for posting! I didn't know about this artist before but am a fan of Annika Norlin (Safe ride/Sakert) so I guess the algorithm worked this time😊.
I met the girl who was meant for me when I was a small boy in Japan. I was swept into a canal during a monsoon and I would have drowned but a young Japanese girl dragged me out by my collar. She sat me on a wall above the water and waited with me until the rain stopped. She was selling pencils for her school and my mother had given me pocket money so I bought all her pencils. She took me home and I thanked her and all I remember was her beautiful face and wet, black hair. She waited by the gate while I went inside. I never knew her name or where she lived. This happened so long ago and so much has happened to me but now at the end of my days I remember her and think of her and I wonder what her life was like. I do not pray and I am not a believer but I pray she had a good life and found happiness and the light of Buddhas face shone upon her. I also hope she remembers me and finds pleasure in the good deed she did so long ago.
JoachimderZweite, I recognize the lyrics! It's Rob Dylan, right? A singer/songwriter from New Zeeland! I think he was talented but unfortunately, he never hit the big time:-(
Ever since I was eight or nine. I've been standing on the shoreline Always waiting for something lasting Loose your hunger you loose your way get confused and you fade away Oh this town kills you when you're young Oh this town kills you when you're young. I'm not the boy I used to be This town s' got the youth of me All eyes turn hollow From the work of sorrow hmmmm hmmmm hmmmm hmmmm Standing on the paving By the office building They've got so much to do Never time for you We are shadows we're shadows shadows in the alley You die when you're young You die when you're young You die when you're young la la la lala la la lala la la la la [original by Broder Daniel]
To be honest it's all about "ever since I was eight or nine". It's about growing up in a place where you are taught certein things and you make your own mind made up. Then you are being taught that you are wrong. Then you spend 40 years trying to be OK with that.. only that you do still recognise that you were right from the start.
I used to shake and feel very emotive when I would hear this song some years ago. Now I don't feel anything special about it,. I am so happy that my heart has healed and I am no longer an energetic match to it. Thank you Anna for being with me in my hardest of times.
So Andreas. Where was it filmed? Or was audience and sound added behind Anna in the studio. It is amazing. The Tack så mycket at the end is a great touch. I remember my Grandmother saying it when I was young.
And Anna didn't write this song either, it's written by Henrik Berggren of Broder Daniel. And it was Henrik who asked Anna if she wanted to do a cover of this song :)
Best thing is you can tell it's an old video. Notice how the crowd are actually standing and listening whereas if this was today everybody would be using their phones to record!!!!
Yeah, I think the bad habit of everyone filming almost constantly has ruined a lot. They only think of filming to put it on social media instead of enjoying the present. Almost as annoying as when half the people at a party are looking at their damn phones.
You can not just ...get around it, or underestimate what it carries, as a metaphor of the core of life, as it was before it begun to die, sort of. To a generation on the westcoast in Sweden, this is an epic anthem and to those that had any sort of belonging to its story ´, its a brick. What Broder Daniel and perhaps foremost, Henrik, achieved when it just came from nowhere, that revenge and how mush of a statement and summit. It was very special how they managed. They just nailed that. Performance before tv died, how it was unreleased unheard and remained so for a long time after that appearance. Annas version might be what it was meant as. Its just massive. Ones youth compressed to a 5 minute long hallucination. Forgot how powerful it is. Anyone ever playing or asking for this song is a friend.
This looks like it was filmed on Kent Tour 19. If I remember right she did her whole support gig with her back to the audience every night. And was utterly brilliant!
@@markusbremberg370 Well I can't be sure of course, it was a long long time ago now. But I was on the lighting crew for the tour and it looks very familiar
there are so many ways to say how cool this video is. the lyrics, the Anna, the position of the camera, was there a filter on the camera or was that added in later?
That looks like the Kent Tour 19 show. (Kent in a Tent.) Anna T made the hair on the back of my neck stand up every night! Electrifying! Brilliant! never wanted the show to end.
I believe this was filmed in Gothenburg, on the Kent tour, and the second date. I was there and recognize the smile (1.26 into the video). She really is fantastic. Great musician, beautiful voice, fantastic songwriting skills and she is absolutely gorgeous. Lets hope she has the high integrity she radiates and continues to create her own music.
@filip4334filip Believe me. Your not alone. Every person with a little sence of musical feeling understands that this song is pure amazing...It kicks the original song from Broder Daniel in the ass...Annas voice is perfect...And she is so...so..cute..Man, I just realized that I´m in love with this woman...
Probably, yes, they had an enormus tent they used as concerthall, so looked the same on every location the tour visited.I saw Anna Ternheim and Kent in my hometown Borlänge, this song was magic to hear from her then!!
If your opinions are so self defeating you'll allow me the last word and simply shut up. 'Whoever despises himself nonetheless respects himself as one who despises.' - Nietzsche
Yes, I gladly would, but whoever resorts to Nietzsche in such an infinitesimal matter as this is, obviously shows no respect to either Nietzsche or the differentiation between greater and lesser things in life, and therefore deserves to be roasted very slowly over a lukewarm bonfire. But, although misplaced the quote certainly was good and hard hitting as a kitten paw in a glove of steel.
I am privileged to say that I saw Anna perform this song live at Bush Hall, London, 22/05/12.
She sounds even better live than she does recorded. A fantastic performer. Long may she continue.
And her version even got more hits than the original by BD
Thanx, it was actually my idea to film it like that. I am the producer of it.
Best,
/Andreas
Thank you

Fantastisk cover

JoachimderZweite , what a touching, heartwarming and heartbreaking story of your life.
I hope, Madame Butterfly was thinking of you. ...🎵

So suss !! Sehnsucht tut so gut !
For some reason you keep refering to her as a "japanese" girl, Asian fetisch much?
And then the drugs weaned off
Anna Ternheim. En kvinna i tiden. Fantastisk artist, alla kategorier 👍👌✌️🤘😍
We had this song played live on my cousins funeral. He died 28 years old. I miss him.
I also died about that time but we didn't have a funeral yet.
Ever since I was eight or nine.
I've been standing on the shoreline
Always waiting for something lasting
Loose your hunger you loose your way
get confused and you fade away
Oh this town kills you when you're young
Oh this town kills you when you're young.

This town s' got the youth of me
All eyes turn hollow
From the work of sorrow
hmmmm hmmmm
hmmmm hmmmm
Standing on the paving
By the office building

Never time for you
We are shadows
we're shadows
shadows in the alley
You die when you're young
You die when you're young
You die when you're young

Fasiken vilken snygg video
Härlig känsla i rösten.

Reading your comment gives me hope! Thanks and happy you're better.
Sounds like my town - Killed me when I was young. Kilkenny, Ireland
Those bastards
it was not much better. Different versions, both nice.
Yeah no, original version was shit.
It's about Gothenburg, Sweden :-)
Sorry to hear that but also kind of expected, Kenny

Nästan så jag börjar gråta. Saknar min son. You die when you're young.
Really crisp, clear, pleasant voice...soothing. She is really good
3:22: just when you might think, this song is so amazing, it stills gets better!
What is this, that makes me happy and sad at the same time, listening to this song? Must be love...

Excellent. Anna Ternheim is marvelous.

i love that song so much! everytime that lalala gives me a goosebumps at the end :)

amazing! i love this song! all true about life in few words...

Tusen takn for en fin Sang Anna ❤❤
Magiska Anna. Magiska Kent.

The song is about INxx types not finding their place in this world.
Put this on Itunes, I'm willing to buy this song!
🖤
Amazing song!, much better than broder Daniel's version!! This is how this song should be performed!
I think it was filmed in Borlänge some years ago, Anna Ternheim was on tour with the swedish band Kent.
"Tack så mycket" meaning "Thank you very much" in swedish.
@AnPeSv Antagligen Broder Daniel fans som e griniga? :)
her voice is like cotton candy

Spela Shoreline!!
Men för helvete, lägg ner det där. Inte kul längre.
Spela Shoreline!
Vad sur du var då.
Here from PewDiePie
i don't think this is the version he was referring to
Saw the original band perform this song in Antwerpen back in the early 90s. This is a great cover as well.

How different this is from the Broder Daniel version - as if they were not the same song. It's captivating.

Anna and the grey mass.
Simply stunning, just keep it simple!
men är det inte med Kent från 2005?;)

I love u..
Amazing Video, amazing song!!
This is a pretty depressing tune.
In other words it is truthful - and great.
It's impressive. I don't know if I'd use the word great.
Well, it doesn't really matter what either of us think, or else we wouldn't be commenting here.
