      It’s funny, when the F6 came out there were so many people covering the release. After I started uploading my videos I noticed that I was one of, only a couple, people that still made stuff on it.
      I’m at a point, now, where I need to do a lot more research to get a video done. A lot of it is stuff I never thought I’d use but there is so much the F6 has to offer.
      Keep an eye out for more videos to come. Thanks for checking out my videos! I really appreciate it!

    I'm so glad I found this video. The headphone output part of the F6 was like reading Mandarin to me and you explained it easily for me. For 2 years, I've been screwing with levels to try to isolate tracks in playback and setup. Thank you for showing me that the volume dial actual DOES have a function if you press it in. You also made me feel completely stupid, since it's so simple (now), but it's going to make future jobs so much easier and faster.

      This is exactly why I make these videos. Some of these small details are so easy that they are easily overlooked. Sometimes you just need something pointed out to understand it.
      I know how that feels all too much. I face palm myself multiple times a week when I find something that’s right in front of my face.
      Thank you for checking out the video, I’m glad it was helpful! Keep an eye out for my F6 videos, I have a bunch planned.

      @@RebelTech1990 I have a question on the Limiter. Does it work with the Line output as well? So i can send Audio to the camera without fear of clipping.
      It seemed like it only worked correctly if line output was set to 0db might of been an old firmware.

      I just checked it out. Go to the output settings-line out- Limiter- Turn On. Then adjust the settings how you like them. There’s a lot there so it may take some trial and error to get it the way you want it. I may cover this in a video but I would have to do some research to get it just right. Hope this helped!

    It is a good practice to keep HPF with 5-10Hz above the minimum for each particular mic in accordance with the mic's frequency response (diagram) in order to avoid the low-frequency imperfections. Most mics work between 20Hz-40KHz, so HPF could accept minimum values of 30Hz or so.

    Any film production with separate audio and video recording requires manual or automatic synchronization. If you are using F6 only as an audio hub (without other external recorders like F2 or F3) then the easiest way to automate this synchronization is to connect the timecode out signal to your camera's mic. In more complex cases you can use UltraSync devices...

      You can do the audio and video separately. So set up the F6 at n audio interface and the camera via capture card. But you can't send 32 bit to the cpu. It caps out at 24. Zoom actually just released a 32 bit audio interface, so that may be better for your use.

    • @RebelTech1990
      @RebelTech1990  2 роки тому

      This is very easy to do, I do plan to do a video on it but I 1, need a stereo pair of mics and 2, I need to research/test some stuff to make sure I know what I'm talking about. For you I will give you what I know based on pages 99-100 in the Zoom F6 Manual.
      To get there: Menu-Input-Link Settings-Input Link
      Now that you are at the proper menu I'll explain what you need to choose. By selecting the Stereo boxes that will link the corresponding tracks to a stereo format. Ex: 1/2, 3/4, 5/6. "When stereo-linked, odd tracks are handled as left and even tracks as right channels". Now this is just for stereo recording. This I understand fully. The "MS" mode is where I have less experience with. It says "When MS stereo-linked, odd tracks are handled as mid signals and even
      tracks as side signals". I will have to do some tests to understand that one further but for what you want I feel the standard stereo setting will work out.
      Give it a try and test it out with different stuff. Let me know how it goes and I can add it to my video notes for the video in the future. Thanks for checking out the video!
      Oh also I have a lot of Zoom F6 videos in a playlist so if you are looking to get into learning about the F6, this is the place to be. I am throwing out much more about it all the time. Also adding YT shorts to the mix as well. Hope this was helpful and thanks again!

    Does the AVX receivers fit in the F6? It's an L-shape and so I'm worried if part of it would rub or not fit on the F6. Like, if I connected four to five avx receivers, would the metal bar block them from all fitting in?

    • @RebelTech1990
      @RebelTech1990  2 роки тому +1

      I have used two and a boom mic while in the bag and that was very snug but I did it. Now the real question is are you planning on putting it in a bag? Because if you don’t have it in the bag then the receivers can turn out of the way and you don’t have to worry about losing inputs.
      I do plan to do some videos on this topic. I just need to do a video on the AVX system first.

    Great tutorial. It was very informative. I was wondering if you had any recommendations on DAWs you'd recommend for working with floating 32 bit Zoom F6 recordings in post. I'm using Logic Pro and it converts imported 32 bit files to 24 bit.

    • @RebelTech1990
      @RebelTech1990  2 роки тому +1

      The first thing you should try, if you haven’t already, I’d create a session with 32 bit as the default bit rate. The import the files into that session.
      If that doesn’t work then you might have to use something else. I haven’t used many DAWs, mostly because I got used to Studio One and haven’t looked back. Pro Tools is only good if you are in a professional studio and even then I feel like it’s dated software.
      If that doesn’t work. Then see if the file is still recoverable even if it’s been converted to 24bit. It might be converting it but not taking away the data. This happens sometimes with video FPS. Give that a try and let me know how it goes.

      I’ve tried some 3.5mm mics with an adapter. It doesn’t work. I tried multiple configurations but no luck. The F6 also doesn’t have a “line in” option, which is something I wish they added. Technically the time code runs both ways but I don’t think you can use that signal for an audio source.
      If you are looking for something with a 3.5mm option, the handy recorders have them. Some other field recorders might but I don’t know for sure.
      In my opinion, the 3.5mm mics should only be used as a “in camera” option. If you have a xlr recorder of any kind, just go with an xlr mic. The audio quality is usually much better.
      Hope this helps and thank you for checking out the video!

    • @RebelTech1990
      @RebelTech1990  3 роки тому

      The only output is the “Line Out”. As far as I know you just have to set the line out level and plug into the port with a 3.5mm cable. It is still a little noisy so I don’t know how good the quality is after the 1.7 update. I haven’t check it recently.
      What are you looking to do with it? Maybe I can test some stuff for you.

      The only way to do it is record the line out signal. But that isn’t really good for quality.

      The resolution doesn't have anything to do with it. The Fps to Sample rate is what matters. 48khz was created to match the "standard" 24fps. Essentially double the Fps for the Sample rate. You can use more but eventually it will be output to 48khz and 24FPS. Of course there are special circumstances but for the most part if you use 48khz you'll be fine. This mostly applies to video production. if you want more range then you can go higher, but it's not necessary.

    • @RebelTech1990
      @RebelTech1990  2 роки тому +1

      The level that you see bouncing up and down when you speak into the mic. Just try to keep it between -6 and -12. Doesn’t have to be perfect just use that as a reference. Don’t mess with the levels too much, once you get it set, or it will be more work while editing. This is just good audio practice, works with any type of recording. Also don’t use your tech as a crutch. Just because you have something very useful like 32 bit float, doesn’t mean you should get lazy. Keep up with the work, like you would if you didn’t have it. You do have it and use it as a safety net. Just don’t rely on it too much.

      In the video you sent I saw the level issue but not ticking. I assume that is a more recent problem. In regards to the Issues in the video, it seems like the pre amps on 4-6 most likely have a hardware issue. Could be software but my bets are on a preamps defect.
      In regards to your ticking issue, I haven't heard or experienced anything like it. Did it only do this after the 1.9 update?
