Lyrics because it helps appreciate her loveliness: Collecting the circles that tell us How old we are beneath our eyelids Wearing a purple badge to prove what I did Pump the vitals out of my wrist 'Cause I'm conducting an experiment on how it feels to die Or stay alive So try to stay calm, 'cause nobody knows The violent partner you carry around With claws in your back, ripping your clothes And listing your failures out loud It's more than the skeleton next to my coat The black that I held in the back of my throat Follows you straight into the dark; The easy way out and the hardest part When it won't leave me alone I'm better off learning How to be Living with demons I've Mistaken for saints If you keep it between us I think they're the same I think I can love The sickness you made 'Cause I take it all back, I change my mind I wanted to stay I wanted to stay
JB has been lauded for her song writing abilities, which are next level. From time to time I'll see her skills as a guitarist praised. This brings her singing abilities to the fore, which is an aspect of her artistry that I feel is underappreciated. Bravo, Julien! Bravo!
It's called finding your sound. This artist clearly found their sound and the best part is they stick to it and not care what people think 😅 we don't need more sell outs, that's why radio music still sucks!!@@etagged
Julien Baker is a once in a generation musician. Her voice here is crazy, but I will tell you she is the best guitarist ive ever seen live. she is sick. Writer, singer, player, ... sick!
This rendition gave a whole new tone to this beautiful and sad song. It felt like spring was blooming right at the end. You could feel the delicacy they had while making this arrangement. And while Julien's voice sounds amazing in the original, it really only grew with the addition of this whole orchestra. Thank you! Very much in tears right now ;-;
Stumbled on to this video, and have listened to it 10 times tonight. Something about this is mesmerizing. It just seems authentic, simple, and powerful.
Thank you so much for these proshots! I love the arrangement so much -- the whole thing is so beautiful, but the little major swell at the "I take it all back" (and so on) section just makes my heart do funny things in the best way
ua-cam.com/video/m16auzZtM38/v-deo.htmlsi=Wbk6Vc-B6W5Tp3zS - Funny enough Julien was actually supposed to perform Sprained Ankle in 2020! Instead Gracie Folds sang the vocals because Julien was sick but here's the recording.
Did you listen to the song my friend? Honestly tell me that minutes 2 and 5 of this song have the same dynamics and I'll know you are deaf. You also have to compose orchestral pieces with vocals differently or else the vocals will be lost. Try singing over Beethoven's 5th
5:19 that was the sweetest moment from the conductor. Just a little smile 😭
And the audience and Julien's response at the end too. A lovely experience.
very cool
also wiping tears off his face at the end
Absolute chills, holy cow. And seeing the conductor checking for her changes and smiling just was the icing on the cake.

Collecting the circles that tell us
How old we are beneath our eyelids
Wearing a purple badge to prove what I did
Pump the vitals out of my wrist
'Cause I'm conducting an experiment on how it feels to die
Or stay alive
So try to stay calm, 'cause nobody knows
The violent partner you carry around
With claws in your back, ripping your clothes
And listing your failures out loud
It's more than the skeleton next to my coat
The black that I held in the back of my throat
Follows you straight into the dark;
The easy way out and the hardest part
When it won't leave me alone
I'm better off learning
How to be
Living with demons I've
Mistaken for saints
If you keep it between us
I think they're the same
I think I can love
The sickness you made
'Cause I take it all back, I change my mind
I wanted to stay
I wanted to stay
Thanks for posting these.
Thankyou. It does help appreciate her loveliness

Too bad her style is narrow and repetitive. Her albums sound like singles.
@@etagged Yeah, well, you know that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

@@etagged A) that's verifiably not true, and B) you don't actually have to be mean.
Those notes she unleashes beginning at 5:00 are unreal! Gorgeous and evocative song! 😢❤
I need this on spotify. This is absolutely enchanting. Julien, your voice is a gift we need more of.
What’s it like for the neighbors when JB practices singing this song at home…that end part! 🙀 Amazing song and best performance of it.
Crying. Jesus. Beautiful.

godammit she gets me every time, there’s no defense 😢
I stumbled across her music several years ago, she has never disappointed me.
one of the best at writing deep psychological songs
She's a powerhouse. Very emotive performer.

Absolutely beautiful work with this Orchestra! Great job Julien!

Impressive indeed. I didn't know she had the voice control. She should do more in this vein.
Absolutely beautiful! Art in it's purest form right here. Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥

Holy-smoke ,what an amazing performance. 😊
Thank you! Looking forward to the final song.
Thank you!!!
Incredible ending.
ooh, goosebumps
Damn, Julien should create more space in her songs to deliver pipes like that and bring her voice to the forefront much more than she already does.
Wow! Gorgeous!
She's adorable 😊❤❤❤❤
So so good!
It miss the rawness from the original, but still amazing

Please post the final song Julien Performed!
Will you be able to share her performance of Sprained Ankle too?
🎉 if only!
That was my favourite song of the night!
Impressive
Who did these arrangements? They should be named so they can be congratulated on their amazing work!
Eric Allen arranged this one. Rob Moose and Alex Jacobsen arranged the other Julien songs.
SPRAINED ANKLE PLEASE

Vow, just vow
What a poignant performance. ❤🩹

POST THE LAST THREE SONGS we beg
JB MONTH!!!
Well that just destroyed me 🥺🥺 - in the best way possible, but still...
It hit me right in the cry parts
❤ hermoso!
Is there a lesbian specific store that sells those pants?
I don’t get it
I thought she was gonna have an amazing voice being that she's backed by an orchestra 🤔
kind of a waste to use an entire orchestra to perform something this formless and lacking in dynamic range.
😛
