When I counted rows I peeled back a couple husks on the right row for my "flag" . Recent combines we've had auto -path so the combine knows where to cut through.
Hello, what's the point of having the inter-rows at 22 instead of 32'. In France, it's often 29'? Is there a proven gain in yield, and how are most of your regions? Daniel of France
Sugar beets are grown in 22" rows, most use same planter. 30" is the most common width for corn in the US with some 20 or even 15. Narrow row corn seems to have an advantage the further north you are.
@@lynwessel2471 First of all, thank you for your reply. I understand your practicality with sugar beet. In France, beets are grown at 17.7'', between 47° and 51° north latitude. So you're at 48°N, just like us. Indeed, the further north you go, the more logical it is to tighten the sowing rows, and corn has always been at 30''. Some experimenters want to convince us with 50'', but in fact it's a question of upright or drooping foliage. Not all varieties react in the same way. For wheat, we usually sowed at 7'', although experimenters convinced us to sow at 6'' 40 years ago. Direct, no-till or no-till seeding has developed in winter wheat over the last 20 years, but these specific seeders are more often used with triple or quadruple rows, with a final spacing of 22" !!!! : that's too wide.
Congratulations on a successful harvest
