- With elk hunt tags in such high demand, opportunities to hunt bugling bulls are rare. Our friends at The Mountain Project use a solid, multi-state draw strategy which is an essential part of being able to hunt elk every year. For them, this involves drawing tags in units with smaller, hard-to-access herds. Because even when they draw one of those less desirable tags, they're spending their September chasing elk with bows.
Such was the case in September 2023. Chase and Jay drew two tags and were joined by Uncle Jeff, who bought a landowner tag in one of New Mexico's most challenging elk units-known for small populations and bulls. Our only goal was to find elk amidst the cholla cactus of the open plains and hunt the most mature bulls.
Ep. 1
While Chase and Jay drew second-season Archery Elk Tags in one of the more difficult-to-hunt New Mexico units. They are joined by Chase's uncle, Jeff Christopher, who drove to NM from Texas to hunt a unit-wide landowner tag on the same hunt. The group quickly locates elk, and Jeff scores on opening day. - Навчання та стиль
Jeff did a great job of 'makin meat' on Day 1! So cool seeing the boys along on the hunt; so special.
This was a really enjoyable video. It brought me back to my elk hunting roots. I grew up hunting elk in the high desert. Thanks friend for sharing and looking forward to part II.
