I LOVE TYRONE POWER. Let's just get that out of the way first. He's been an absolute favourite of mine for a really, really long time. I honestly can't put into words all that he means to me and what his films have meant to me. I'm just so excited to finally have made a tribute to this wonderful, charismatic, criminally underrated actor. That's the most exciting thing- that making this video means I get to share this underappreciated and often forgotten star (that I absolutely adore) with all of you and, hopefully, convince a few people to explore his filmography. I only hope I was able to do his legacy and career justice with this video.
Tyrone Power really was THE cookie cutter example of both the positives and negatives of the Hollywood Studio System. The son of a well-respected stage and screen actor, Ty followed in his late father's footsteps and got his big break in films after being given the lead role in "Lloyds of London" in 1936 at the age of 22. Despite 20th Centrury Fox boss Daryl Zanuck's initial reservations about casting an unknown, the film thrust Power to immediate stardom. To give you some idea of his rapid rise to fame, only six months after the release of "Lloyds of London", Tyrone Power's hand and footprints were immortalized in cement at Grauman's Chinese Theater. From there, Ty would become one of 20th Century Fox's most consistent box office draws for more than two decades and in 1939 was actually named the second biggest box office draw in Hollywood (beaten only by Mickey Rooney). While Power was incredibly popular, he had aspirations of being a serious actor and, unfortunately, those needs were not being met. Being that Power was 20th Century's biggest draw, Zanuck wanted him put in as many films as possible, usually at the expense of quality. It's because of this that Tyrone Power isn't as fondly remembered today as he should be. Particularly in the earlier part of his career, Ty was a "Matinee Idol"- starring in romantic comedies and musicals purely to please his largely female fanbase. While enjoyable enough, they have mostly been lost to film history. If Ty is remembered for anything today, it's probably for his remarkable contribution to the Swashbuckler genre, most notably for "The Mark of Zorro" and "The Black Swan". Despite his unhappiness at the roles he was given, Ty stayed with Fox until the mid-1950's (almost 20 years). Every chance Power was given in dramatic parts, he excelled and I can only imagine the heights he would've reached if he'd broken free of the Studio System shackles sooner. Once released from his contract, he made perhaps his greatest film- "Witness for the Prosecution" (1957). It was also his last. In 1958, Tyrone Power suffered a fatal heart attack while filming a duel opposite George Sanders in "Solomon and Sheba". He was only 44 years old.
So, if you feel like diving into Ty's filmography, these are my favorite of his films (in chronological order): Love is News (1937), In Old Chicago (1937), Marie Antoinette (1938), Second Fiddle (1939), Mark of Zorro (1940), The Black Swan (1942), Nightmare Alley (1947), The Luck of the Irish (1948), Prince of Foxes (1949), Rawhide (1951) and Witness for the Prosecution (1957). He made so many enjoyable films, you really can't go too wrong.
He was such a good looking man.
He was indeed and a great actor.
My Mum, God rest her soul, passed away this last Thanksgiving at the ripe old age of 96. He was her favorite actor and now I can see why....the epitome of dashing and debonair.
I had never heard of him before this video but I can assure you I fell in love.
Monochrome Wings same here
Watch the movie "Marie Antoinette" He is drop dead gorgeous!
Cafe Metropol was one of my favorites of his. I watch it when I have had a bad day, always gives me good laughs, especially his Russian accent that "comes and goes, comes and goes."
@@mrandquist Me too!! I love this film!! It is excellent!! And my adored Ty is lovely as always!!! He was as talented as handsome! :)
I can't imagne someone did't Know Ty😢I'm arabian 33years old and i love him so much
Tyrone was the most beautiful man who ever lived. I fell in love with him in 1953. Cried when he died
Lucky to you he was gentlemam and man who will be born once in 1000 years..he died long time ago but his movies and deeds would be always remembered.
Fantastic compilation. He was a wonderful man.The Razors Edge my favourite.
You need to watch him in his 30s-early 40s movies. The most beautiful actor of all time
I LOVE THIS MAN. ♥♥♥This is my FIX every day! I can even visualize his facial expressions while listening in the car. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Laura, I want to say that you did an exceptional job synchronizing these clips with the beat of the song, his salutes, and even with his stances @2:25-@2:30. Tyrone SPOKE volumnes with his EYES. And you captured that in this video. My personal THANKS to you.
Very PROFESSIONAL work!!! 👍👍👍👍 I don't know how long this took to create, but it is well worth it!!!!
What a wonderful tribute to the most beautiful man I have ever seen PERIOD! I love me some Tyrone Power! Great choice of music by the wonderful Michael Bubla I go weak in the knees just watching him especially in Marie Antoinette, Jessie James, The Mark of Zorro, well ok, pretty much everything he's in! Sad he is so damn underrated as an actor. In the spirit of his movie "I'll Never Forget You" I truely wish I could go back in time, meet him and........
Linda Sturm get you some jimmy g
I think he was wonderful and I loved his simplicity! I was a kid when I first saw ‘ Jesse James’ on an old b&w tv; now I am 67 and I still love Tyrone Power!
I've had a crush on Tyrone Power for most of my life and watching this only strengthens it. Great tribute to the most beautiful man who ever lived! Thank you!
You can’t not not look at him. He was magnetic.
I wouldn't have minded doing a movie with Tyrone Power, just to look at that handsome face.
Incredibly handsome fine actor🔥❤🌹
I clearly need to watch more Tyrone Power films.
Same too
I have only watched 2 of his films, but did not know he made so many great ones.
martinatra : Me permito sugerirte: "Love is news" (1937), "Cafe Metropol" (1937), "The mark of Zorro" (1940), "The black swan" (1942), "The razor's edge" (1946), "Nightmare alley" (1947), "The luck of the Irish" (1948), "The Mississippi gambler" (1953), "The long gray line" (1955), "Witness for the prosecution" (1957).
@@taymur0804 The Rains Came, and Son of Fury are really good. His flicks with ex gf Sonja Henie are cute too.
Great video!! Excellent and shows all sides of the man named Tyrone Power Matinee Idol...❤🌹🍀
tyrone power is my favorite actor of all time and i LOVE this video
This tribute is perfection to Tyrone Power, perfect in every way! He was one of the most underrated actors of his time. He acted with his 'eyes' which is the best acting always.
Jonathan: I agree! The great Tyrone Power was as talented as handsome! So subtle! So versatile! So warm! Unforgettable!! :)
What a captivating looking actor he was those eyes.are talking all the time he acted on.film.. someone called him.the handsome all rounder
I could only imagine waking up every morning to that face.
I had always heard of Tyrone Power, but I am just now discovering him and his films after seeing "Rawhide" on Grit TV recently. Thank you for this fan video; you did a wonderful job of synchronizing shots and cut aways with the music and the scenes with the lyrics.
The picture of him as Jesse James at 1:56 of this tribute is simply astonishing!! Probably the most stunning still ever taken of an actor. It's flabbergasting to think in any poll of the handsomest actors that Ty Power isn't number one every time. Along with Cary Grant, the handsomest leading men of them all. One woman commented that an Actress claimed he was even better looking in person than on screen. She simply said, "HOW COULD HE BE?!!" In his Biography THE LAST IDOL, the Author Fred Guise wrote on the books cover, "The Story of A Man almost too Good Looking to be True." That about says it all. At his peak he was the biggest box office draw in Hollywood. Why there isn't a Channel with old Tyrone Power films is simply asinine. I'm not certain if the term "Pretty Boy" existed before Tyrone Power. He certainly is the preeminent example of that phrase.
Wonderful Tyrone Power...💖🌷😍
Beautiful and unforgettable Tyrone!
I think he is fabulous, 2 fabulous for words....a real dream.
Great video. Had looks, charisma and amazing acting talent. He is missed and they don't make em like Ty anymore.
Thank you for wonderful tribute to my favorite actor. I love how so many youngsters here fall in love and have never seen any of his marvelous films. Most are on UA-cam and you will love him even more. He played every kind of part from Jesse James, pirate (black swan), swashbuckler (mark of zorro, captain of castile), comedy (Love is News) to courtroom (witness for the PRosecution). If this terrific tribute pulled you in then watch him act through his many pics. If only TCM showed more of his movies. I just know there is a brand new fan base out there.
Judith laucha I first saw him years ago in Marie Antoinette and just melted. He is truely tbe most beautiful man I've ever seen. I've seen all his films and he truly was a great actor. What a shame it is that he was NEVER even nominated for an Academy Award.
Judith Laucka: Yes, he was very versatile!! Also, he was as handsome as talented!! Bye! :)
Judith Laucka The cable channel FoxMovie used to show ALOT of Tyrone Power's early films. Unfortunately they've cut back on showing them. Maybe if enough people complain and ask them to program his movies again, you'll be mesmerized by Mr. Power's image.
I first saw Tyrone power in son of fury back in the sixties on the late show I was in my early teens thought he wad the most handsomest man I’d ever seen I’ve scene all of his movies many times over my favs r the ones with Alice Faye in an interview she was asked what it was like to kiss him she said it was like she died n went to heaven ooooooh be still my heart I wish utube would play for free Alexander’s ragtime band Tyrone power Sean Connery n Richard chamberlain r my favorite male actors the ones today can’t compare in my opinion Pamela from north Carolina
Simply fabulous! Ty is my favorite leading man of all time.....handsomest man I've ever seen and terrific actor to boot.......Great job, Laura.
He’s just..... so gorgeous!😍
Aquí estoy mirando, nuevamente, este hermoso video!! Nunca habrá otro igual a él!! Muchas gracias!!!
Aún estoy vivo!! Amameee!!!
He is wonderful, very good looking. I am in love!😄😄❤💖
@@deboracunha9728 : So am I! I love the great Tyrone Power always and forever. He is my adored Ty! Cheers! :)

I am obsessed with Tyrone Power, this is magnificent to have such memory of him! MANY THANKS TO THE AUTHOR OF THIS MASTERPIECE!!!
Maria Maria: Me too!! I love him always and forever! Unforgettable!! :)
I am enamored! You know he was born, raised and schooled in my state, Ohio.
Such a crush on women's hearts! Can't take my eyes off him. .... He died pretty young, though.
Great tribute to a great actor when I was a young woman of 19 years of age my father was going to buy a part of Mr. power’s Hacienda in Mexico because my father wanted us to all live together and make a business and have a big beautiful home together again but it never came to be because my father died unexpectedly in 1968.
It’s a terrible loss but I do hope that his property Mr. Powers property was kept up and or being used by another family... it’s located in a beautiful part of Mexico.
Hlleo, I'm mexican and didn't know Tyrone Power had property here, can you tell us where it is located?
THE ULTIMATE IMAGE OF A MALE MOVIE STAR!
I agree! Unforgettable!!!
I first discovered him from my boredom in 2018, saw of pic of him in 1930s and I thought that’s sooo vintage but then I found his photo in Zorro, holding a sword with Linda Darnell smiling next to him he was literally beautiful and charming! I remember that I once dreamed (or daydreamed) of a man with face that looked like him when I was only 4, it turns out that a face like that is not just in my dream, but actually exists! Definitely the *most* beautiful actor ever for me, the second is John Gavin! 💗💗💗
I am just discovering Tyrone Power and I ran across your amazing tribute. I have noticed that he had the ability to draw you and you couldn't take your eyes off of him. Your tribute does the same. It was beautifully done. Thank you for posting it
Tyrone Power!!😍 Clearly I'm swooning.
Un très bel homme. Je l’aimais bien.
Thank you, it was awesome
I came late to this party but what a video! What a tribute you gave your favorite actor! Beautiful and you know, somewhere he is smiling!
Well done video of one of the most handsome men, Hollywood ever produced.
Beautiful tribute. Thank you. Such a profoundly talented, good-hearted, and beautiful man.

Men in 50s was different, real humañ with hearts.
Romina es idéntica a Tyron
He was handsome, cool, funny, exciting, romantic.........what can you say?! Great tribute!!! ❤ 🌹
Tyrone was enchanting.
He was really handsome plus talented
Laura, this is sensational. Thank you so much.
This video is so well done. I have come yo know Tyrone Power in these last few months and am intrigued by his charisma. You picked a perfect song and the editing really matches the different parts of the song. Great job! It's also great how you showed him in different stages of life.
Great video. Thanks.
I am here again!! I love that video because it is so beautiful!! Perfect! I love Tyrone Power because he was, is and will be the best to me! Forever in my heart!!! Thank you very, very much!!
Me and you both my dear. We got it bad. I have this video on my Tyrone Power tribute list and play it at least twice or more a week!
Linda Sturm: Oh, yes!! Completely agree! Me too!! :)
l'm born in 2006 so l now have 17 years and now my generation watch some new shits on youtube and films with criminal,sex,drugs..l think l'm only one young person here who watch that old movies like movies of Tyrone Power..he was a such good actor and instead of to young people watch some movies like from Tyrone Power who show us good values, they're watch immoral movies and it's one of reason why we go down.Glory to Tyron Power, one man, gentlman and actor who will born once in 1000 years.Rest in Peace (1914-1958)❤☦
What a great tribute. They say all the women fell in love with T during his era!
All Meggs: Sure, he was the most handsome man in the world in his era and now too!! I'll be loving him always!! :)
I heard that too, He became multi cultural heart throb.
Tyrone Power - possibly the most handsome Hollywood actor ever. His daughter Romina, also quite beautiful, and having had a great many song hits! (not so much in the USA) Great use of clips. I am definitely subscribing!
Romina looks like her father
Excellent video of a great actor....thanks for the posting!
So beautiful and died so tragically young. Nightmare Alley is one of his best films
What excelent video! Oh!! The great Tyrone Power!! My adored Ty!! I love you always and forever, sweet prince!!!
No
Che classe , che eleganza !
Read all these comments. He not only was beautiful, but he enchanted just by his looks and expressions. This man was magical. That enchantment and beauty was seductive.
Muchas gracias!!!
Beautiful video. Thank you so much.❤
The second last photo with Tyrone Power with him at the balcony, there my father resembled him a lot.
Beautifully done! Thank you. 💜
Por siempre ,para siempre ETERNO.
Love your editing style, this is amazing
He was a Very Handsome man. But that's not all he was very Talented. He used the talents he had and he was natural actor, producer, director.
what a good looking devil he was, wish you could send more of is films.uk.
This is just awesome! Fantastic! You did an amazing job with the editing of this video! Must've been exhausting to make it, but also great fun, I guess. :) Tyrone Power's facial expressions in this compilation are just priceless!
I've noticed that I know several of the films you used, but not all. That is definitely about to change...
Thank you lovely 😁! A wonderful tribute 💕 to a beautiful underrated actor. ( Love your choice of music aswell, well done)
Super!!!
Reminds me of Alain Delon! Warren Beatty said Delon's a mix of Kim Novak and Tyrone Power in an interview long ago.
Enamorada de él desde siempre
Yo también!! Tyrone Power es inolvidable! :)
Excelente video!!! Amo a Tyrone Power!!! Felicitaciones!!!
It's back!! I've said it before and I'll say it again - flawless video! I know what I'll be watching on repeat for the next few days!
Im feeling good now!! 😙
I think you should do a new one with the song at last by etta james
Stupendo, meraviglioso attore e bellissimo uomo!❤
Thank you, Laura. What a poignant piece of work!

Laura, thanks for bringing this video back! I just couldn't wait to watch it again. It's irresistible, just like Tyrone!
I definitely want to watch his whole filmography, and your next videos of course! But as for now, just relax, child, because you did a great job ♥
This is such a beautiful tribute to the most wonderful actor. It really brings him alive. I only discovered his films this year and have fallen in love, the way the detective fell in love with the photo of Laura. I have seen all his films except for four I can't seem to find. They just don't make 'em like they used to. Nice that his son, Tyrone Jr. is a spitting image - so sad he was born just after his Dad died. Thank you for this collage. I'll watch it over and over.
His son is nice looking and you can see the likeness, but IMO no one compares with Tyrone Power - the most stunningly handsome man ever.
Maravilhoso!!!! Parabéns pelo trabalho
Bellissimo!!
wowowowow laura.......im tongue tied and have goose pimples all over that wont go away......a great birthday present for me november 15
Thanks so much for going to all the trouble; it is totally fabulous!! 🥰🥰🥰
In a sense, Tyrone Power's curse was his handsomeness ... I think the critics simply paid too much attention to his looks and didn't give him the credit he deserved as a talented actor.
This video captures what impact Tyrone's mere eye movements had.
Great....well edited Tyrone has always been my fav actor !!
Such a beautiful actor and (I hate to say it) but an even more beautiful song. (It's my favorite song of all time!!!)
WOW
