Let go of the past. Mariah can not come close to So Hyang for power and conveying emotion and feeling. I've never seen a reactor cry why listening to Mariah. The best she gets is an oh my on the gimmick whistle tone. So Hyang brings almost every reactor to tears. There are a lot of reactors who read that same same discription of the Korean Mariah but by the end they dismiss that with comments like Mariah has left the building. No one should be compared to Mariah on an artistic level because she does it all, building music from the ground up. But in terms of singing, don't compare artists. Thank you for the video. Sohyang loves Mariah Carey but Sohyang took inspiration from other top singers like Whitney for the power belts and faster runs too. In my view, Mariah's vocal strengths were a strong low and middle range, strong change in dynamics, clarity in the higher range, creative live runs, and her mostly unmatched whistle tone. Sohyang's are her dynamic contrast between breathy, soft tone, and power in he chest register, clear head voice, strong resonant mixed-voice belting to a high pitch, and fluidity in moving between registers within an extended note, run, or phrase.

To me it seems Sohyang is more of the Whitney Houston of Korea. Doesn't really have the style and pitch of Mariah Carey, but does have the power vocals of Houston.

Most of the korean singers tend to follow the same training, which imo is still lacking, when you heavily use your mixed voice, and don't care at all about head voice or agility and many other aspects

Thank you for the video. Sohyang loves Mariah Carey but Sohyang took inspiration from other top singers like Whitney for the power belts and faster runs too.
In my view, Mariah's vocal strengths were a strong low and middle range, strong change in dynamics, clarity in the higher range, creative live runs, and her mostly unmatched whistle tone.
Sohyang's are her dynamic contrast between breathy, soft tone, and power in he chest register, clear head voice, strong resonant mixed-voice belting to a high pitch, and fluidity in moving between registers within an extended note, run, or phrase.

소향님은 원래 ccm가수였고 음반도 너무 좋아 나 어릴때 매일 들었고 교회 행사때 공연도 봤는데 그 어린 나이에도 성량으로 내부 전체를 메우는 그 느낌이 가히 충격적이였다 말할 수 있어요..

To me it seems Sohyang is more of the Whitney Houston of Korea. Doesn't really have the style and pitch of Mariah Carey, but does have the power vocals of Houston.
There are hundreds of people that can do play Whitney Houston impression perfectly. I have yet to see a singular person that can do a Mariah Carey impression perfectly

소향이 정말 대단한건 저 높은 음역대를 진성으로 부른다는 것이다~~~~~~~~~~~~
근데 또 소향님은 성대 전체가 붙는 흉성(진성)이 아니라, 믹스드라서 그걸 따지는 것 자체가 의미가 없다고 봐요. 그렇게 따지면 머라이어의 휘슬 자체도 가성과 달리 성대가 붙기 때문에 진성 영역으로 보는 쪽도 많고요. 진성, 가성 할 것 없이 그냥 아름다운 소리로 노래를 한다는 것 자체가 대단하다고 생각해요.
