- This is the first amendment audit of the Steuben County building on October 14th 2022. The audit went well as in the Erie County Fam's rights were not violated. There was a Unconstitutional Sign in the Clerk's office and a computer that's facing the publics view that should be fixed. And some other employees were Educated as well.
Remember Erie County Fam!

I get so embarrassed by US citizens not knowing our rights. Rights, I was introduced to in the 4th grade and encouraged to demonstrate proudly. Anyone should be enthusiastic about allowing the public transparency and accountability. It is what we are.
Schoolhouse Rock on TV, Saturday mornings in the 70's taught me the preamble/Bill of Rights! or at least kept reminding me of it. Look it up on the internet youngsters!

Appreciate your report. Seems the deed employee was blindly honest in her assessment as to why this municipality forbids you to take photos of deeds/public records as it interrupts their 'revenue'. This, in my opinion, is double-taxation. We already paid for those records when they were created, so why must we pay for them again to get a copy? Remember people - Any fees your government charges you when you engage them are taxes. Stop paying taxes for things we already own!
Not really double-taxation. Those kinds of departments are usually funded by the fees they charge, not taxes collected from the public.

these employees should learn about the plain view doctrine and then their planning would know how to set the offices to maximize privacy

Lots of times people that confront auditors accuse them of causing a scene, obstructing business, etc. This video is an excellent example of how the auditors are simply doing their thing. We see how there is zero disturbance when we have staff and police who are educated like in this video. It is uneducated staff or police that cause the scene and turn it around on auditors as a reason they need to stop or leave.

If a county is concerned about records being damaged by photography, then they should be actively converting them into some other accessible form and archiving the originals.
It is a great way of keeping the records from the public and from photographing them for free. I doubt they feel the need to rush.

Public servants/employees (use either as a title) are just so surprised that a camera showed up, yet they have cameras every where. Our public employees/servants (use either s a title) believe that where they work is a private place, is a private entity. How can these people be so ignorant as to think they work for a private business. Govt. is owned by the people. The people employ them. The people approve them to SERVE we the people. Stop being ignorant and get on board and do better public servants/employees. How long and how many times does it take for these uneducated people begin to learn? Thanks to AEC for exposing what is wrong with our country today.
Overall I think this one was pretty good. The officers who greeted u were very professional and helpful. The employees were mostly friendly, you always have a couple who live miserable lives and take it out on everyone else. Great job.

What don’t public workers get about them paying taxes? They are paid with citizen tax payers money so they are paying money back to the government that citizens paid into the government and the citizens money that the government worker was paid with just gets recycled and the government uses that money to pay them in the subsequent year.

In the office with the license tags, if the black woman is afraid to be recorded and her duties as a government employee, then she should find another job!
Most noticeable was the guy in the drug court office. If we were treated like he treated Dan by all public servants these would be boring videos of what they do for the public. Most of them actually were very welcoming.
Then the sign should say ask for help when handling old, fragile documents
Is it possible there are govt employees that don't understand what citizens can do in taxpayer funded buildings & property?
That's the point of the auditors educating them so that they are aware.

You know some departments actually arent public right? They have classified secure information and youre forcing your way into them is technically against the law. For example government IT is not public as it has too much secure information on any given monitor.

The lady county clerk is BORN, RAISED in a different era. WHEH she was lil girl she had assigned seating on the bus in class in cafeteria IN EVERY ASPECT of her life she was taught to STAY BETWEEN THE LINES. It’s hard to be angry with her cuz of the way she’s doing her job. It’s wrong yes, but ya can’t put the blame on her. But Brenda sitting in thst $800 Cadillac of office chairs she’s sittin in . She’s a horse of a different color.
