    You guys sure made a hard hot job look easy. I know you're all young and 'bullet proof' but be mindful off possible heat exhaustion. I worked for a small commercial beekeeper just a few times when he was short handed in the early 80's. I remember hauling over wintered bees back from Texas to NW Iowa on two large flatbed trucks. Going thru the weigh stations always made me laugh. The first truck would stop for about 10 seconds and get the green light immediately. The second truck wouldn't even have to slow down! Keep up the good work!

      We’re constantly reminding our crew to stay hydrated! It’s very important especially when pulling honey.

    You guys made it look sooooo easy honestly. I'm a first year beekeeper..... I got my butt kicked, learning as I go. And it was rough, you all seemed so comfortable and efficient around all those bees.

      Your comment made me think more about our “comfort” around the bees. It’s just subconscious now, but I remember back when I was getting used to it. Always helped me to just go sit on a lid and eat a snack without a veil and observe (before working them of course) might have to make a vid on that 😂😂

    Do y’all use queen excluders between your deeps and supers so you get only honey in the supers or do y’all have a different method?

    I've got some truck envy. Nice rig! I've been looking at getting something bigger than my 550's for when I'm pulling honey or moving 150-300 hives and it's not worth calling a semi.

    • @beekeeperjake
      @beekeeperjake  Рік тому

      Thanks!! These trucks are great for both of those things for sure. We can put on up to 384 singles, just might be a little heavy. We usually do 128 doubles and 192 story 1/2s easy. I know there are people that do that with 550s but honestly these trucks aren’t much more when you consider the lifespan of them vs a 550.

    @jakemoore Ienjoyed your video - do you have killer bees out there. I am a beekeeper myself here in Ghana and the bees are quite aggressive so we do use extra protection when ever we work with them

    More or less the same way I do it. Common milkweed is starting to bloom here in PA. I have a lot of it in my area. Get a nice nectar flow from it. I'll be pulling full supers all the way until august. I'm just a hobbyist but provide to hundreds of families in my area. Learned from some of the best and I can maximize my yield from each colony.

    • @beekeeperjake
      @beekeeperjake  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely! How long does that flow last? I know nothing about the flora on the east coast.

    • @luke021380
      @luke021380 Рік тому

      @@beekeeperjake It starts around mid-June and lasts all July b/c there are up to 8 or 9 varieties of it that bloom. I pull supers from one apiary at a time. Just so I'm not overloaded with work all at once. You have to be in more rural areas. People that like to mow a lot destroy the milkweed plant before it ever blooms. By the third week of August were into the fall honey flow. Japanese knotweed, goldenrod, then aster. Thanks for sharing Jake!

      @jakemoorehoney I only use them to pull comb honey, especially the few Ross Rounds I try to make each year. Fume either doesn't penetrate those or the bees just don't want to leave.

    I think fume boards are by far the most efficient way for every operation 😁😁. What’s your dad think about the whole UA-cam thing? I watch farmers and some dads are more enthusiastic about it. Some get involved immediately and others it has taken a while for them to get involved in the channel…
