Great reaction. The Kami Band of the West (others have already provided their names in the comments) were introduced for the lengthy US and European tours of 2019 and 2020 - I'd guess for all sorts of reasons like the Kami Band of the East having diary clashes with their own projects and responsibilities, the length of the tours (20 dates in the US, 19 in Europe and the UK), visa requirements and so on. The Kami Band started wearing dark robes at the Legend S Baptism XX shows in December 2017 - Su-metal's 20th birthday celebration - and the masks replaced the corpse face paint in 2019. Also - happy birthday Su-metal, 24 today. I agree with Boognish QC below - I also have about 20 songs in my top 5 (possibly more) and, as Jeff Schreifels also said, my favourite is generally the one I'm listening to.
Kagerou, or “Heat haze” is about someone who was at first suspicious about her partner, then begins burning up in anger by the end of the song. This song uses a ton of Japanese onomatopoeia, which is why it sounds fairly repetitive. Kagerou is a moody song by BABYMETAL with a tempo of 97 BPM. It can also be used double-time at 194 BPM.The track runs 3 minutes and 31 seconds long with a G♯/A♭ key and a major mode. It has high energy and is some what danceable with a time signature of 4 beats per bar. Western Kami Band:- Anthony Barone - drums (2019-present). Chris Kelly - guitar (2019-present). Nice reaction, thanks! "What the heck, dude!" Yeah! That was Anthony Barone at the drums giving us that final blast beat using his signature technique: gravity blast. Too bad it cannot be seen properly in this compilation. "Kagerou" represents the grown up version of BABYMETAL and it's one of my favorites. My absolute favorite song of all times is "Akatsuki". Until next time!
Great reaction again Sebs! You were right, it just was Su’s birthday (Dec 20th) which I personally celebrated on a 48 hour stream (Thanks Babymetaltube!). This was the Western Kami band playing at this show (they played most, if not all, of the US leg of the Babymetal tours). Chris Kelly (guitar), C.J. Masciantonio (guitar), Clint Tustin (bass) and Anthony Barone (drums). They are also exceptionally good but for me personally give Babymetal songs a different feeling.
Oh I forgot, they also appeared on day 2 of the Metal Galaxy show in 2020 and even performed the last song of both days together with the “eastern” Kamis :)
The thing that hits me every time is Su's voice. It sounds both powerful but at the same time so delightfully fragile at the same time. Strength and vulnerability. It is one of a kind.
It's been said many times before by many people because it's so true. My favorite Babymetal song is which ever song I'm currently listening to. Because each song is different, each one hits you in a different way.
⚡ 💕 / 🌡 🔥 Most folks were pretty happy to see "The Kamis From the West" with solos. That "gravity blast" is a signature move for drummer Anthony Barone. Su and Moa have talked about presenting a more adult version of "Kawaii Metal" as they get older. They often give 'Elevator Girl' as an example, but I think this song is better. They've also mentioned that it took a while to get used to the more agressive Metal sound of their Western Kami Band. IMO, this is the best pure rocker they've given Su since 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!'. I've loved this one ever since it was a Su-metal solo song called 'Tattoo' on the 2018 tour. And the choreography is a lot of fun. Both Su's freestyling in the original version, and the living heat wave with Su, Moa + a support dancer that it is now.
This is definitely one of my favorites as well!! I got to hear them perform it in Kansas City before it had an official name (we thought it was called 'Tattoo'). If you can find their 'Night Night Burn' it heavy with a little Latin flare. (plus, reactors rarely do it. Be a Leader!). 🤘🦊🤘
Great & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Your pronunciation of "Kagerou" is perfect👌. This is a compilation from 3 shows including the show in the Forum, USA. West (American) Kamis are great. At the first encounter with West Kamis in Japan on Jan.26 last year, a famous jazz pianist wrote in an article "Hefty undulation in sound made the audiences think that we should be ready to seriously face the performance to come" Su is singing about jealousy against someone using a metaphor of heat haze, "Kagerou". The hash emotion is shimmering from her inner blaze, and it seems to me that her emotion will not erupt but turn into magma. It's scary😱 . "Kagerou" is my favorite song, too but it was not performed in any of 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN concerts, this year. I am sure team BM is saving it for forthcoming world tour which will restart after the current Dystopia subsides.
These are the "Western Kami", they're Americans (you can tell by their thicker hairier arms lol) they were the band that did their recent tours. They have a different style and sound. Although I can't really hear it, the girls have said they notice it and have to adjust to it. I think they're the right fit for this song, it somehow sounds like and American Rock and Roll style. Its one of my favourite songs ever. Especially when Su pulls that high note.
You can indeed pick up the difference in the sound. The western Kamis play more aggressive overall. The guitarists use wrist picking instead of Takayoshi‘s circle picking, which results in a highter string attack. Their bassist uses a pick unlike Boh. And you can hear the difference in their soloing style. The western Kamis use more fast alternate runs.
KamiBand of the West REPRESENT!!!! Love the headbanging choreo of Kagerou, as well the sound of the song itself. Su's pontail whip, and when she walks out, finger pointing, looks so badass.🤘🦊🤘
Nice reaction. Favorite song by them is whatever song I just listened to. Until the next song by them I listen to then that will be my favorite song. With Babymetal is just works that way. Babymetal have a few mature songs. But I've never considered this to me the most mature. The Dance routine is clearly the most mature choreography they've done. Lyric wise there's a few to choose from. All of Su's solo songs are and Sis Anger from Black Babymetal lyrics are. For all of them together Karate, Road of Resistance, Starlight, Shine, Arcadia just to name a few all have mature subject matters. On the surface Babymetal may come across as kids doing fun Kawaii Metal music. But dig into what their songs are actually about, and you'll find there's a whole lot more. They're like Ogres they have layers. lol IMO their overall most mature song and choreography performance is Shine from the Legend M concert. That was a top-notch mature professional performance. Enjoy your journey into the fox whole and through the Babymetal galaxy of music.
This is one of my favorite BabyMetal tracks. Not many have done reaction video of this song. The problem with BabyMetal. When you think you’ve found your favorite song. The next song becomes your favorite song.
Notice that the choreography, as well as the music, alternates between elegant/beautiful and badass/fierce. This song is so underappreciated. I'm glad you like it. Great reaction! 🤘🦊🤘
It's a sweet and dangerous tune about love between a woman and a man by mature ladies as you said. Your pronunciation is correct. I think the name of the song is a metaphor for both of the flame of love (mirage) and the fragility of love (mayfly). Kami Band is from The West. Yeah, the great! Thank you from Japan.
It's almost impossible to pick a favorite single Babymetal song, but I got about 20 that are in my top 5. You will see what I mean the more you watch, as each song will become your favorite. Yava or Syncopation is my recommendation for you to see next
Glad you like this one Sebs...I think if you like Kagerou, then you would really like Syncopation. I have those two back to back in my playlist, great tracks. 🤘🦊🤘
Anthony Barone on the drums goes brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr So you finally met the KamiBand of the West :D The good thing of having such a diverse repertoire like BabyMetal has, it's that it can attract people with so different tastes! Ask 20 people, you will get 20 different top 3 songs :D The only one most will agree to be in top, it's probably Megitsune :D My top 3 is: - "Iine", official MV - "Megitsune", official MV - "Distortion", live at Download 2018 :)
Great reaction, Sebs! Picking a favorite Babymetal song can be tough, but two that I absolutely listen to all the time are AMORE (a Su Metal solo song) ua-cam.com/video/wby2_cWuTNs/v-deo.html. This is a compilation video, but to my favorite version of the song from the Wembley 2016 concert in the UK. The other is "From Dusk Till Dawn" ua-cam.com/video/5lICElMH1n8/v-deo.html. This song is so different and awesome at the same time. I attached the link to the studio track, you can really enjoy the interesting nature of the song...won't say more until you listen to it. Have a good one, and looking forward to more! Oh, and Happy Birthday Su Metal (today)!
Great reaction! This is actually my 8th of all my favorite Babymetal songs. Yes, I'm a nerd, I have a top 10 list. This song is just beautiful, we can't deny it, Su is so freaking enchanting in this performance.
This jumped into my top 3 BabyMetal songs as soon as I heard it. Headbanger and Catch Me If You Can round out my top 3. I love this song. It's beautiful and heavy and the intro kicks ass. Also, I've come to prefer the sound of the Kami Band West (seen here).
Great reaction once again! I´m so glad you liked this song. It´s kinda difficult to choose a favorite Babymetal song, because the most of them are great. But it´s in my top 20 for sure, and my Babymetal playlist actually starts with it. Hopefully you´ll continue with "Babymetal Monday". It makes my day, and a week.
It's not a song you will get a lot of requests for but based upon your enjoyment of Kagerou, I would recommend you check out "Shine", because it, like Kagarou, has more of a old school rock vibe, although Shine is more of an anthem than Kagarou. "Shine" is the middle of what is called the "Trilogy of Lights", which begins with a song called "Starlight", then "Shine", then Arkadia. It is believed these three songs are related to the death of one of their guitarists in 2018, with each song covering an emotion of grief. Starlight being the shock and sadness, Shine being coming to grips with it even though missing the individual, and finally, Arkadia, coming to the realization life goes on.
Kagerou is a definite vibe! Yes the intro is definitely heavy, but I think that you have yet to be introduced to Babymetals heavier songs... They are Black Babymetal songs, in which it is only Moa and Yui performing. Like many have already commented, you generally end up having multiple favourite songs and that speaks volumes about Babymetal. Kagerou in my opinion is definitely a more mature sounding Babymetal... And it would be remiss of me not to mention Mr Barone absolutely destroying that drumkit with those gravity blast beats... Thank you for the reaction. 🦊🤘🔥🖤💎
I like your reactions, they seem pretty honest. At the moment I start my day with Distortion, Arkadia and the Tales of the Destinies. That will change probably but for now they are my favourites.
In this performance/tour, the drummer is American...Anthony Barone...and he is a beast! The guitarists and the bassist are Americans too and are members of the Star Wars themed metal band, Galactic Empire. 🤘🦊🤘
this had easily become my fav song when i first heard themmm .... ughh jusss wait till yu hear more my mans ive agreed tht every song of theres is my fav like theres not one song tht i dont like not even by sakura gakuin either not one
I can't decide wich one is my fav. Song. Let it say this way: 3 Songs aren't my favorite but for the love of the Fox God, i keep it a secret. I realy like you reaction videos and hope there will be nore Babymetal to come :D . If you are looking for a new Song i would vote for Syncopation or Yava or Shanti Shanti or BxMxC or Awadama Fever....see, i can't choose one song :/ .
I agree Sebs, this is probably my new favorite song as well. If you are interested in getting a better understanding of the meaning of the song you could do worse than watching Professor Andrew Hartley's analysis of this song and performance. Professor Hartley's analyses are always in-depth and deliciously complex, which is necessary because Babymetal songs are themselves complex and illusionary. Anyway, if you have half an hour to spare you can find Hartley's dissection here. ua-cam.com/video/9nEJ9MolQFI/v-deo.html
I think you are the first person I heard to say that Kagerou is a favourite. But if you are into these "mature" Babymetal songs.. you should like songs like Arkadia, Starlight, or Distortion.
if thats the heaviest Babymetal Songs you heared, you need to check out the Black Babymetal Songs which are GJ, Onedari Daisakusen, 4 no uta, sis anger. Black Babymetal are Moa and Yui without Su and their Songs are heavier and darker than normal Babymetal songs.

My favorite Babymetal songs are "Yava", "Megitsune", "Ijime Dame Zettai", and the rest of it.

Syncopation is an awesome song and my favourite babymetal song.
Thank you for the great reaction. 🙏🏿🙏🏿
If you get a chance can you do a reaction to Yava (with Kami band intro)🙏🏿🙏🏿
Hell yeah. Yava! Is a must.
It’s almost Impossible to have a top 5 BM songs without changing it every day!! They are sooo damned awesome!!
Great reaction! This is actually my 8th of all my favorite Babymetal songs. Yes, I'm a nerd, I have a top 10 list. This song is just beautiful, we can't deny it, Su is so freaking enchanting in this performance.
my fav song ? .... all their three albums plus all their cover songs.
👍☝ next ~ yava !
They Are Is West Kami Band, basically they are a backup band from babymetal, when she perform in europe
This is also my fav song of theirs. I'm surprised it almost never ends up on anyone's "must listen" list of tracks.
Nice!! Have you react to Babymetal - Road of Resistance Live in Japan? React to this please🦊🤘
Great intro and this was when we noticed they had grown up 🔥🔥🔥🤘🦊🤘
🤘🦊🤘
This song has a certain funk to it. It seems nice and gritty.
My favourite has to be Headbanger, but there's a lot of their songs that are strong contenders. Yava, Da Da Dance, and Megitsune especially.
My favourite Babymetal song is whichever song I'm listening to at any given moment.
Nice reaction dude, on Su Metals birthday as well. she`s 24 now.
This is the song you play when people say that BM is a joke!!!!!! How cool is the head banging choreography !!!!!!!
Good reaction👊🏽⚡️My favorite Babymetal song rotates. Usually the last 5 I’ve heard are my favorite 5..
I agree......my fav song with Mirror Mirror a close second !!!!!!
Tattoo is the original name for this song.debut as Tattoo in 2018
I like your reactions, they seem pretty honest. At the moment I start my day with Distortion, Arkadia and the Tales of the Destinies. That will change probably but for now they are my favourites.
OMG #Babymetal is wonderful!
Starlight, shine, and arkadia the trilogy of light songs for HOPE by BABYMETAL live please reaction maybe you liked 👌❤
In this performance/tour, the drummer is American...Anthony Barone...and he is a beast! The guitarists and the bassist are Americans too and are members of the Star Wars themed metal band, Galactic Empire. 🤘🦊🤘
