Guys, those of us who were teens in the late sixties and seventies can tell you, there’s never been such an era of imaginative eye opening music for one’s formative yrs than this. Before Rap and Hip Hop there was the great Curtis Mayfield, writing about the very real observation of life on the streets in the America of the early 70’s. He’s always been “the shit,” and always will be. Checkout his contemporaries and their songs of the human condition, such as Marvin Gaye, “What’s Going On,” Stevie Wonder, “Just Enough For The City,” War, “Drink That Wine” and “The Lowrider.” That’s the flavor of 70’s music that spoke to a generation who saw the unvarnished realities of life during war and domestic hardships. All of it was very popular crossover music because it was truth rapped up in great music. Regards 🤘😎

Almost all of Curtis' songs are about Junkies, Dope, and prostitution. Not to glorify that life, but because he was an addict for many years, and was part of it. He became a Born again Christian, and a man of God, who had a heart for those people. Love Curtis and his music. Jimi Hendrix used to play with Curtis, and you can here it in some of Jimi's music, and guitar style. A wonderful man, and a great influential artist from the 60s and 70s.

I feel like once Rock radio hit in a big way that waa the end of what you refer to. So perhaps that type of diversity died by the mid to late 70's.
Certainly in the last 40 years there waa no outlet to hear it. Motown and others get played on oldie stations but not this.
This would have been around in the early 70's where I would have been to young( I sm 57) but I certainly later heard other music from that era. Never this.

@@jgsrhythm100 AM music radio officially died in early '80s. But there was an overlap period from about '72 to '82 when you had options to hear specific FM formats along with AM. So AM radio was still kicking it in mid to late '70s! Even some FM stations had Top 40 formats with multiple genres, which essentially replaced the former AM Pop stations.
Looks like you may have just missed the AM craze based on your age. But MTV & Top 40 FM stations were still playing multi-genre/multi-racial music.

That song has Curtis written all over it.

You have to check out The Impressions, they were masters of the genre. I remember seeing them at rock and roll shows in Brooklyn NY in late 1950's and early 1960's. And if you play this, you have to react to "Freddy's Dead" from the same soundtrack.

Hey guy's, I wonder if you'd be interested in giving a listen to more country music, if so then here's "Brooks & Dunn - That Ain't Know Way To Go (Official Video)" The lead singer and lead guitarist is Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn both of whom are vocalists and songwriters. The duo was founded in 1990 but both already had established very successful careers.

Hey boys, enjoy your channel. How about reacting to some Allman Brothers, Todd Rundgren and Jackson Browne? From the Allman Brothers, I suggest some songs from their Live at Fillmore East album, particularly Stormy Monday. One Way Out is great, too. From Todd, how about Hello it’s Me, We Gotta Get You a Woman, Love Is the Answer, All the Children Sing, and Can We Still Be Friends (all original album versions). From Jackson Browne, it could be anything from the Pretender or Late for the Sky to Fountain of Sorrow or Before the Deluge. It would be great if you could react to some female artists, as well. How about Dusty Springfield’s Son of a Preacher Man or the Look of Love, or blues legend Bonnie Raitt’s Love Me Like a Man or Give it Up, both from the same album?

Subscribed! You guys do a fantastic job reacting and breaking down these songs! A guy you should react to again is Aldo Nova, you reacted to his song 'Fantasy' and had mixed reactions about it, but I have to tell ya, his other music is utterly brilliant. Fantasy is the only song by him that is recognized, but he made other songs that were well ahead of its time. 'Monkey on your Back' is one I hope you do, but 'Hold Back the Night' will really impress you. I'm sure of it.

Then you gotta check out "I'm Gonna Hit Ya Sucka"....Wayan brothers plays in it. One of the pimps even had platform Kiss shoes with fish tanks for heels. Yes, real goldfish were in there.
