The 'nipple' looks like something from a Cronenberg movie.
Yes it's very 'eXistenZ' (great film!)
Always good to see Yoad on here.
❤ Wow! What a great crew on this show. And nice there was a Jordan Rudess mention as he is BOTH an amazing person and artist. You should have him in the show, yeah? 🎉
The micro-mini brute is brilliant
The nipple reminded me of the creators ship controls in the Prometheus films. Some kind of ‘organic’ control system for envelope amount or cutoff
48:37 All the Launchkey MK3 keyboards have a strum mode in the arp. I've never had the desire to use the mod wheel to do some kind of MIDI pedal steel, though. But if Novation made a keytar controller with a Floyd Rose it'd be awesome.
Yoad has good taste … 25/50 LP, BSII & Matrixbrute … 😎👍🏼
Ticketmaster... the Spotify of the gigging world. Capitalism at its sick worst.
Expat in the states here - Ticketmaster also do sports. My Manchester United season ticket I somehow still have is cheaper than going to watch one single SF 49ers game. I did get one “cheap” concert ticket for Hans Zimmer Live in October in Oakland CA: $369.07 plus service fee and handling fee and facility fee = $460.47… and that’s not a resale one - that was a standard ticket.
Jeez, thats insane, I guess the inevitable consequence of supply and demand and dubious buisness practice too?
The last concert I went to was Acoustic Alchemy back in 2006, I love these guys and had to go. But it was sooooooooo LOUD, bass was way overpowering, and I wanted to take the engineer and throw him out and take over the board. I can't afford any more hearing damage; I stopped going to movies shortly after they amped up the volume for THX or whatever it was called. So, it has been about 30 years since I went to a movie, and 20 years since a concert. Now I only go to acoustic concerts where zero sound reinforcement is used. There were some very small venues in my little town where it was never loud, but all those are gone since the bioweapon attack. UA-cam is where I hear any new music, I use YT 100% of time for finding new musicians and listening to them. So many great artists, so little time.
43:33 - always loved your interviews with the creators, e.g. Eric Persing, Urs Heckmann, Alessandro Cortini of NiN... Would be super cool to have a Roger Linn study on sonicstate! With a Alex Ball accompaniment? 👍
52:12 - a massive pulsating red spot - 😀 Show title = done
Ticketmaster - yeah they are the big boys, but AI and/or VR will do them in too, eventually....
Starsky - Nick is not wrong, George Duke is the greatest monosynth player of all time... And he is one that occasionally played the patches too, not just the mod wheel and pitch bend - altho he seemed to love the sliders on the Odyssey (of course!). Worth checking 'Almustafa the Beloved' live vid on this site.. Brilliant performance by Bill Cobham, George Duke, John Scofield, and Alphonso Johnson - for all time!
Nice to find another Duke/Zappa synth fan!
@@sonicstate The Mothers with George Duke was the best ❤
The scene back then - that gang of amazing musicians 1973-1979 - take e.g. Billy Cobham, Jean-Luc Ponty, George Duke, Frank Zappa - virtuosos all - and with the marvellous cross-pollination back then, things were bound to grow...
Albums and tracks from that time are the pinnacle of musicianship in many cases for me. Yes there is some brilliant new stuff in the 50 years since, and still today - massive sounding stuff, emotive sound and music memes and tropes, ambient stuff.
But at a time where musos were forging a fusion of jazz and prog and funk to create something new, fusing the aptitude for musical performances from those two evolved genres, to create a groove at a time where the disco and Brazilica flourished!
It can't happen again..... So soak it in!
Show title: naked, ambient noodling 😂
Darn should've spotted that one :-)
Revamping the tiers ? Are you taking a page out of AVIDs book? 🤣
Yes, America has anti-monopoly laws with exceptions for things like utilities: phone, electric service, which are controlled by a board of directors.
Ticketmaster revenue in 2023 was $22.7 billion dollars but operating income (how much Ticketmaster actually takes home) was $1.86 billion. Still ridiculous.
My offer is $69 for upgrading the arturia FX..
