I love the way you Georgians sing.
Is there a special musical scale? I remember a very serious song with some very peculiar 'half tone passings'...
    Regards!!

Once the Georgians surprised the Roman emperor with their Georgian martial arts, at that time the king of Iberia Parsman Kveli arrived in Rome. The Georgian king was adored by the whole of Rome and loved by the people as the world loves Stalin.

Thanks for the offer. I'd like to know why Georgians despite obviously enjoying playing with toy swords are so inept when it comes to real-world battles.

AMEN! Besides that, you never know when knowledge of martial arts can come in handy. Such as in a simple game of dodge ball. I can dodge better than 90% of a class of well trained and excellent athletes because of my swordfighting experience.

I do belong to a group. I'm a Jewish American but when people ask me what I am I always say first that I'm an American, because that's what I consider myself. My ethnicity isn't so important to me, because in America...Well, being an American just means that you're an American, and wherever your family came from is as important as you want it to be.
I had to do some research yesterday on Georgian Christianity. You guys know how to build churches and paint too - I wanna go to Kutaisi now. :D

Sweet dude. I mean, whatever you Georgians think about yourselves is probably what is reality. Okay, so you're European. I'm glad you're in the States to educate people about the mysterious country that is Georgia - we know so little about it. I myself am pretty interested in Georgian history. You all have a unique culture along with Armenia - Christian, and yet at the same time something seems very pre-Christian about your country. I'd love to learn more, especially about your fighting styles.

It`s kind a mix of georgian and medieval european martial arts, i see costumes are like from tusheti region, and a lot of scientifics think that there are a lot of descendants of europeans after cruasade epoque, their costumes so identic to knights costumes and they wearing them even today for folk grups or holidays.

And see, you guys have very, very interesting perspectives. Now as an American, I am certainly not one to deny that you are the oldest country in Europe, but as a student of medieval history I can ask you this: Do you really consider yourselves European, or are you Asian?
From the little that I know, geographically Georgia is definitely in Asian. However you're Christian, and most of your conflicts were with other Central/West Asian people. So what are you guys? Asian or European?

I figure, there's only so many ways to throw a punch, kick, or use weapons like a staff. It's simply possible that two unrelated groups of people figured out how to weaponize a staff in simliar fashion.
Or Bebriscixe could be a farce, but I doubt that. MArtial arts exists everywhere in the world, it just might not exist in a way we can recognize it as martial arts.

  • @viskarenvisla
    @viskarenvisla 16 років тому

Heh, you're right. Still, I always considered Georgia in Asia for some reason. Well, if it's Europe then it's Europe. Are you guys in the European Union btw?
Just how many Jewish people are there in Georgia, and if you don't mind me asking, do you find English to be a hard language to speak? The little I know about Georgian is that it's completely unrelated to English - even less so than Armenian, which is in the same big language family as the one I'm speaking right now.

  • @viskarenvisla

I didn't mean to offend. I assumed Georgia was in Asia because I look at it geographically. I tend to think that Europe ends at the Ural Mountains. Also because Georgia is predominantly Eastern Christian and I imagine you have a lot of muslims from Azerbaijan, I kind of assumed you were culturally Asian too - and by Asian I mean like, Middle Eastern/Central Asian. For example, I consider all of East Russia to be Asia, but again, this is an American historian's perspective, not a Georgian's.

Well, don't take it personally, but seeing georgian men attending mass rallies wrapped in their flags just a little over a year ago, instead of fighting for their country's honor in a more manly way did not strike me as being particularly valorous. Correct me if I am wrong!

Georgia is historicaly a mixed culture, so to say that the soul remans eternal is a but of an odd statement.
They have been influenced by everything from roman to jewish (Juhuro) and Muslim culture. This can all be seen in this very video (the style of grapping comes from the muslim empires and some of the sword play was brought over by of all things the jews... yeah that is weird. Even the jews are relucting to bring that one up).

You Georgians are an interesting group. We in the United States know so little about you. I've never really known much either except that you guys are like, totally different from Russians, were some of the first Christians around, and must have done SOMETHING right to survive as a nation all the way to the 21st century.
So is this what your ancestors used against the Kypchaks and the Seljuks?
