This training room isn’t real. But all the language you just heard, was. And to 3 out of 4 women gamers under 25, this is their reality.

As a female who has experienced verbal abuse online in gaming, I feel that the comment section is filled with people who don't care what is happening/have another complaint about the ad not being aimed towards males and it is really sad to see. I feel like people are missing the point and ignoring that verbal abuse and misogyny happens and will be a bystander/or are like them if they ever witness such an act.

Sky, BBC, C4, ITV are all completely and utterly out of touch and increasingly redundant. Watching them falter is amusing and heart warming in equal measure.
There has always been abusive language in the realm of gaming it's laughable they are making this out to be a female issue to push their agenda.
I'm at the stage where now frankly if a person can't handle mean words being thrown at them online by people they have never met, and who mean nothing to them - then don't take part in online gaming with people you don't know. It's not the responsibility of other people who have managed to build up resilience to bounce back from it themselves or handle it to cater to people who just have no resilience. I've seen the nice approach done all my lifetime and it just breeds more and more weak people who then wonder why they find life so difficult and don't succeed but then focus in on pointless debates that mean nothing in the grander scheme of things.
People fundamentally have the ability to say what they want whether people (including laws) like it or not as we end up in a much worse situation when speech is restricted as we have seen over the recent years. They need to stop trying to play the "save women" card as it's complete bs and its insulting to a lot of female gamers in the sense that it suggests it's them who are too fragile to handle it which isn't true as many will know who game or have gamed with women.
Generally they just need to take a look in the mirror as media organizations tend to be some of the most morally corrupt places to work so they've got no room to lecture other people until they fix their own diversity issues.

Realy does. Id used to play online with my mic off and it worked wonders. Plus why would i talk to randoms that the game pairs me up with, id only talk to friends that id specifically put time to play online with.

That doesn't stop them from griefing the game and or harassing you after the game is over. Not to mention muting in a competitive game defeats the point of playing a comp game. Fix the root of the problem vs telling the victims what to do.
Griefers exist anywhere, regardless of whether you mute or not, its not your problem, just keep playing like usual, you can troll them back later if you want to.

I'm a male gamer and have received abuse at times so it isn't restricted to women. Toxic lobbies are everywhere. I would also like to point out that I have also been targeted by women trying to market pornography that they make for a fee. Nobody gets away with some kind of bad experience.

This kind of thing relates to abuse on social media platforms. I came across some very interesting studies recently relating to the abuse females endure on social media platforms. The studies were brought on as a result of female MPs claiming that they face disproportionate abuse online BECAUSE THEY ARE WOMEN. However, the studies showed that the majority of abuse online is by women directed towards other women. But that doesn't support the false notion of so called toxic masculinity and so Sky won't be interested.

There's a magical tool every online game has called the *"Mute"* button which has existed for over 20 years.
Just open the scoreboard, select the offending player, and select "mute". Now you can't hear that 1 specific player.
Problem solved.
"Just mute" ignores the main issue. It's like telling victims of sexual assault they should've been dressed differently... How about we teach men to respect women instead of blaming it on the women?

This other player invited me to a party so he could wish death upon me and my entire family as well as similarly disgusting remarks that would make most people cry. I'll agree that abuse towards women is different but not worse. It just seems bizzarre that it's always been such a huge talking point when men are routinely told to kill themselves when male suicide is continually on the rise.Thankfully I am the kind of person to laugh at the abuse thrown my way but not everyone is like that. Im sorry, as a woman who plays quite a few video games that won't help. Because ive herd women be bitchy with other women. They are horrable to one another. Dont make it a woman v man thing with only showong the men as been the aggressors. Yes, this does happen, but not often, and women do it to other women a lot. And what about women harrowing male players? Because that defiantly happens they say things or harras them. I had a friend where a woman player stalked him relentlessly over games, sending him messages and being generally horrable. He wasn't even her friend anymore he blocked her, but she would see what us as a group were playing and figured it out to go and harass him. We reported it multiple times, but because he's a man and she's a woman, there was nothing done.
Women aren't the large minority in the gaming industry anymore 49% of gamers are women, and 51% are male. So this Men big numbers and women small minority is a blatant lie.
What needs to be tackled is both genders. And it's not going to just 'stop' as there will always be people out here to say this regardless of gender. Just annoys me they dont show both sides of an issue that needs to be addressed. But they would rather victimise one gender rather than tackle a bigger issue.
And they never mentioned what a woman (it would have been hetter to day person as it happens to everyone) can do to stop this. Easy just block or mute them and play the game you enjoy. I've seen some of the worst abuse imaginable directed towards men while playing online games. The solution is usually to either mute, block, or go to a different session. Men are used to it. As this has been a thing for a very long time. Some people will often say the worst things that they can think of when they are frustrated while playing a game.
