I sat in front of this painting today for a long time. A guide talked about the painting to a family. When I started thinking about the idea that people have been talking about this marriage moment for 400 years I was moved to tears. Thousands upon thousands of people have walked past it. I hope Beatrix would be proud.
Fans of Frans Hals: When in the Netherlands, don't forget to check out the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem. It's a 20 minute ride from Amsterdam to Haarlem central station, and then a short bus ride to the museum. If you ask the driver to let you know when you've come to the Frans Hals museum, he will tell you so you don't miss it. Trust me on this, you're going to love it. It's particularly sweet during the mild weather when you can sit in the courtyard. You won't be disappointed.
Thanks a lot. you always pop up and i thought i was subscribed. Last week I gave my friend a lesson in front of the Jerome painting at the Met from Pygmalion. Some other people surrounded us and they must have thought i was a professor on art and such. It was quite cool.
