Bosserode is located in the east of the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district, directly on the state border with Thuringia. The federal highway 4 runs north of the town, to which Bosserode is connected via the nearby Wildeck-Obersuhl junction; The Halle-Bebra railway line, which has a stop in the town, crosses the south of the town. The Rhäden nature reserve near Obersuhl and Bosserode extends southeast of the town, between the towns of Bosserode, Obersuhl and Dankmarshausen (Wartburgkreis, Thuringia).
