I saw this in Europe last year, especially in London.
I soon realised after walking past a few of them that this was all organized.
This is a new front for organized crime.

This is harassment the TTC should ban them from entering if they abuse the transportation system like this.
The TTC should get on top of this, and put a stop to it. there is NO way that paying customers should have to put up with being approached for money by strangers while literally trapped, as they travel, on one of their trains. How far could this go ? How about someone pulling out a weapon if you don't give them money ?!! It's crazy.

All lies. First, this is imported pandhandling from the US. She is using USD. Second, $450 rent per month in USD or not in Toronto is impossible. Third, she's not starving. She is well-feed. She is much fatter than I am.

The problem is all of the stupid people that give them money. There are so many stupid, uneducated and gullible people who think that they're 'helping' by giving money to these scam artists, but who are only perpetuating the problem. Thanks for making this film. More people need to see it.

TTC should be more tough on these people. After a hard day at work I don't want to be disturb in the train by beggars, it start with one then soon a whole horde will jump on the train.

One of the reasons I need to be 100% working from home now, is this garbage transit system.
Ive seen her twice in the last week. She mumbled something when she walked by a black guy and yelled something at a white dude who must have said something first. When i see someone give money i say "stop feeding the pigeons" because they will keep coming back

Genuinely curious, does panhandling make them more money than working a minimum wage job?
It seems tiring to be out all day to collect pennies and coins, and of course it affects the ego and spirit as well. I'd think the shame and also the work would be a turn off.

Does anyone remember the shakey lady that used to beg on the streets years ago, lol she would beg all day and then her son would pick her up in a nice big car and drive her home to Richmond Hill lol I think that's where they lived, anyway it was a real nice home. That was years ago but I remember it well she was the biggest fraud going
I knew a cameraman from CBC and he said they did a thing on panhandling in front of Maple Leaf Gardens years ago and said the "bums" were working in shifts. One guy worked days and his partner worked nights. He said he estimated that they were making hundreds of dollars every day.

The story of the very first thing I bought with my Credit card when I first turned 18 (a year and a half ago)
I tried helping this white male who needed change but I didn't have, told me he needed bus money to get to a homeless shelter in Scarborough so I took him to a shoppers to buy him a DRT ticket, only to find out they didn't sell DRT tickets. So i offered to just tap my card for him at the bus stop only for him to be very insistent on doing a "cashpull", anyways I needed to buy something to be able to do that so I asked him what he wanted and this dude immediately asked for a lotto ticket; mind you this is the same guy who supposedly needed money for food and water. I asked why he didn't get a bottle of water or some chips and he made up some excuse (or if i remember correctly he just went "oh well" or "too late") so I told him I won't be buying him anything and just paid the 2 dollars for the lotto ticket.
He went off into the parking lot asking more people for money, I felt like a fool for trying to help him. These people get paid by the government to sit at home and do nothing, do not help them unless they're in immediate danger (like OD'ing) and NEED help. I take that 2 dollars I wasted as a valuable lesson, but at the same time I still talk to them when they want to and try to treat them as normal people. I don't know their backstory to end up like that, but i also do know theyre probably going to use whatever money for drugs.
A lot of times they try to poke at you if you're religious, think easter, christmas, ramadan, diwali, etc. I grew up in a muslim neighbourhood and a lot of these panhandlers (also Muslims) would go out into the street with fake signs filled with lies, they'll say something like "God Bless" or "Merry Christmas" or "Ramadan Mubarak" or "Brother/Sister". One of these people haggled my sister for a 20 and basically stole from her AND caused her to be late for her university exam.
Give them sympathy only to an extent.
