  • Ringing on the third heaviest ring of 6 (behind Queen Camel and St Buryan), set in a pretty and rural Warwickshire village. At 29cwt in a tall tower, they are ludicrously difficult to ring owing to tower wobble and heavy, unpredictable bells, but the tone is excellent! The tenor, cast in 1877, is the heaviest bell ever cast by Blews of Birmingham and sounds terrific! They were last rehung by Taylors in a two-tier frame in 1957 with further strengthening work done in 1993. Originally, these bells were rung from the ground floor, taking 15 men to ring them! The bells have never been pealed and owing to the tower wobble nothing more than general ringing is allowed! Ringing here not the best and generally too fast but this video should give an impression of how stately these bells are.

Those are beautifully old-fashioned!! That tenor is a credit to them (Blews)!

Looks like a perfect tower to ring a quarter of Norwich in, I nominate you to ring the tenor ;)

Dean Jeffries I don't think you can ring quater peals on these. I think the tower moves too much for a quater so it would be unsafe.

You forgot to mention that these bells have never been rung to a full peal. Some of my ancestors came from Brailes, the Cockbill family, first mentioned in Brailes in 1279. Much more difficult to ring than St Buryan and Queen Camel.

kernowoggie I did forget to mention that (I meant to!) - description updated. Not rung at St Buryan but one day I will! These are ludicrously difficult. Grand bells though!
