    Finding the cause of a leak is rarely easy but you have done a great job so far. I had a car with a similar problem, and what I did was use black electric tape and taped off each section one at a time. I began with putting tape over the sunroof seal and then used the hose (or wait for a rainy day) too see if the leaked stopped. If it stopped leaking - great. If it continued, then leave the tape on the sunroof seal and move on to the next area- the roof rack slots. Then try the hose again. It it continues to leak, then tape up around the windshield....etc, etc. Keep taping over each area one by one until you find the culprit.

      Great advice we actually tried that off camera, eventually narrowed it down and believe it or not the 2nd windshield was still leaking smh. This Vlog is part 1 of a 2 part Vlog in part two I learned the importance of replacing your windshield with a quality replacement! Thanks for watching and your advice!

    Have you checked the drain holes in the bulkhead, where the battery sits. There are 4 drain holes that could be blocked by grime and/or leaves.

    • @KRTLyfe
      @KRTLyfe  4 роки тому +1

      Yep when I pulled everything apart I also pulled out the battery and checked all of those drains. I even thought at one point it was leaking from the HVAC filter smh. To be continued in part 2!

      Thanks much for the info/feedback man. I went ahead and checked the bulkhead as you suggested & they're all missing Bro. All 4 are missing & nothing remains there but the open holes. The previous owner must've removed them.

    I do have a leak smh. in my 996 the driver door panel at the bottom gets wet in rainy days sometimes. The water is not getting inside so far. Have to deal with it.

      It might be leaking from the window weather seal or door weather seal. Then pooling in that area.

    I own an 06 C2S and this video got me wondering so I walked over and looked at my windshield and guess what? FUYAO!!!! I have been pondering having the windscreen replaced. Can you tell me the cost difference between the FUYAO and the one that worked? Btw. I noticed that your car had gaps in the weather stripping where the wiper axels are. My car has the same thing. I have always wondered if that could be a possible source of a leak. I don’t have an interior leak but I have noticed that after I wash it, there is water on the door sills. Anyway. Great channel. Don’t know how I haven’t found it before. Instant SUBSCRIBER.

      It didn’t cost me anything different because the shop was responsible for the repair, but there must be. What ever your leak is good luck finding it. The other thing you might check is the door tabs the way they are designed on the 997 the also seal the doors vapor barrier if I remember correctly. Thanks for watching I hope this information helps.

      I would triple check all of your glass, I learned from watching the guys at the glass shop one of the easiest ways to do it is with spray foam glass cleaner and compressed air. You could probably do it with any soapy solution. Then you spray from the inside out and have a spotter cheating for leaks. In the end they ended up changing my glass 3 times before they got it right.

      @@KRTLyfe I found the problem, I have the panoramic slide sunroof and there is another small pipe that drains any water that comes in from the seals. That was ripped and was letting water in down the c pillar and towards the back of the car. Time to pull out the sunroof.

    Bro, just discovered my leak situation in my 09 C4S Cab due to the lack of sound from my radio. Water has accumulated in the driver footwear and along the flooring beneath the carpeting. I believe it's shorted out the amplifier. I bought my car clean title from a dealership in Pennsylvania in Dec 2019 only to make this discovery in the last few weeks. Porsche dealership found serious flood damage. $14k in damage according to them. Are those same roof drain tubes located in the a pillars of the Cabriolet? Just thinking that could be the source if my infiltration? My car was bone dry when I bought it. Now all the sudden it's a fishbowl?!? I'm absolutely mortified. An understatement forreal...🤦🤔 🙄 😒 😕

      OMG, so sorry to hear this… I had the exact issue with my Cayenne Turbo. Jim Ellis Porsche quoted me the same price 14K USD to get the vehicle running again. I wrote a very detailed letter to Porsche USA explaining the situation and they did not seem too concerned at all. I am some what certain the drains on the Cab are different but I am not sure. You might be able to find that specific information on one of the Porsche forums. That was a well known issue with the 996. Some of that information might lead you in the right direction. Of course check your windshield as well.

    I have a 997 and also fit windscreens and with a 997 the glue line needs to be very close to the inner edge of the aperture when applying if not it stands a high chance of grabbing the outer trim when laying in and pulling the glue offline and under the trim and not making contact with the glass where it should of.also the inner edge of the trim has a sticky part that has to make contact with the body,when I put these in I almost hang off a sucker on the inside of the car to make sure it stays where it should.

    • @KRTLyfe
      @KRTLyfe  4 роки тому +1

      SuperJammy1 wow after reading in the forums apparently I’m not the only one that has had issues with aftermarket windshields. Yeah like you are saying installing a wind shield on a 997 takes experience and knowledge! In part to you will see how many tries it took for the glass shop I went used to finally get it right!

      @@KRTLyfe with me it's first time but I've been doing it for 25 years and will always get the higher end cars to work on.after market glass can work but it all depends on which company made it.
      i had a leak at the bottom of my doors and found that the gasket that sits on the membrane underneath the doorcard had started to degrade and water was finding its way through it before hitting the holes in the bottom of the door.

    • @KRTLyfe
      @KRTLyfe  4 роки тому

      @@SuperJammy1 I also thought that might have been a possibly with my leak. That is far more common than my situation, but it wasn’t the case for me. The first two were FUYAO glass... both leaked. Spoiler alert the glass that finally worked was made by PGW.
