U.S. technology restrictions have propelled China to build its own chip products, and Huawei's Mate 60 smartphone series is not the only example. Loongson 3A6000, a computer CPU with China's own architecture, is as fast as Intel's i3 10100 released in 2020. To computer geeks, such performance is outdated, but the speed is still enough for a lot of daily tasks at home and at work. CGTN tested a PC powered by the Loongson 3A6000 chip and it did live up to what the company claims. #china #technology #computer

A journey begins with the first step.... good signs if the CPU can be made faster and using RISC or even ARM(a look at Apple M1 chip is good indication of the performance possible), than with emulation software speed becomes trivial and I like Unix base system as it is harder to get hacked and easier to harden it against hackers compared to Windows base system which is full of loop holes and backdoors for hackers to access your system.

Apple M1 and M2 aren't outperform Intel desktop. It is using SOC to make video and audio performance faster. If you want the best gaming platform, it is still Intel. Hyperthreading is still better in Intel and M1/M2 have non. 3D and CAD are still better in Intel. Loongson by it nature design is for server and supercomputing. If it is used in these area, it perform on par with Intel and better energy saving. It is like you won't use Intel XEON on your gaming pc.

There is current hysteria especially in the US about technology sanctions, for decades and every since after the cold war the world has largely been shaped by western and US technology and this talk about decoupling and now de-risking just makes it very difficult for China that she will need to insulate from all these tech sanctions that can severely cripple its tech industry and this is the only start because than China will pushed out of a voice in new standards for new technologies or will China share their new technologies with the world especially the US to create new international standards??
These are trouble times indeed and the cooperation and goodwill of scientists all over the world sharing their findings and progress looks like coming to an end! The seed will grow. As most of the world population buys a computer to last five or more years for home use, there is a gigantic market that will be replacing equipment later on, and not necessarily want the most advanced or expensive models when they do, as they need technology that both trascends and includes older versions. Western equipment plans to make your items obsolete to force you into updating. That gives plenty of time to develop independence.

Linux is a great platform to build on. So much hardware compatibility and security baked in over decades, yet it can be modified to support custom hardware and software, and also cut back to be as light as you want. Throwing it out would be a colossal waste of global effort, so I think China took the best path.
If the US decides to cut off China's access and somehow succeeds, there would always be a local copy to fork, then the West would lose out on China's contributions forever. I think most open-source developers and scientists are in it to change lives for the better, no matter what country those lives are in.

If China starts seriously developing apps and software on top of Linux that will be a game changer. That also means that the processor does not need to be as powerful as something running Windows 11. I expect China to introduce this as a standard work computer for a lot of the schools, public offices and similar and thereby create the demand necessary to keep developing. I'm hoping other countries in Asia, Africa and South-America also understands the implications of this and starts to develop on top of Linux to break free from the US monopoly.

The problem is not the hardware the problem is always about the software and because this unix or linux is not so easy for average people to learn but it's highly possible if you make the apps very user friendly because Apple's products that run MACOS is originally UNIX OS that many people use till this day but they don't realise at all because the traditional Xwindows interface on unix have been modified heavily and extensively to a point that it's so automated that there's no need to go to the command line level to do almost anything. So the big challenge for this to take off at least in china there needs to be a platform like a kind of software app store where programmers and other software creators people can upload their work for people to try for free or for a fee (to use with this hardware). But the hardware also eventually needs to shrink into the size of a laptop based system so that it can be promoted to be used in schools and universities and maybe with subsidies for students, just like how apple I heard used to do it.

@@your-mom-irl to understand what I mean when I said unix is not easy to learn open up the terminal window on your linux box and try to use the cmd line to su or sudo to root and then export your display and use root to launch applications that you would normally do when using a mouse to launch application, if it's your first time on cmd you will find it very cryptic and you may not even be able to do it, even if you google for the solution, that is what working on unix originally was, then just imagine if you also have language barrier don't understand english then you may not be motivated learn to use the cmd interface much because you don't understand what is being displayed or what you are typing due to barrier. But thankfully these days they have simplified it and integrated everything into a point and click graphical environment for the masses that is so easy to use even a kid can do it. Yes it means you have "worked in" linux or unix but doesn]t mean you "really know" unix or linux. But for the benefit of the vast majority of learners in China with possibly english language handicap it's better to develop and improve on the graphical interface in linux as a way for students to learn and work in.

China's new generation of domestic CPU has been released. The performance of the Chinese made "Godson3A6000", which can be independently produced without foreign authorization, has doubled. It is comparable to Intel's 10th generation Core quad core processor. In the short term, with the "Huawei Hongmeng Next" distributed operating system or other PC computer operating systems, there is huge room for expansion. The development prospects of domestic and commercial PC brands in China will be unlimited. Think about the huge PC market in Chinese Mainland and even the world. Even if it is only aimed at the domestic PC replacement market, business will be too busy. Even if the market marketing strategy of "small cabbage price, high profit," benefits Social mass consumers, in addition, will be able to integrate various elements and functions of "artificial intelligence" (AI) into AI computer PC in the future, which will make a lot of money at that time, and the recruiters may not be able to come. The computer PC market is bound to usher in earth shaking changes with more orders 😄😃😁👍👏✌

@@ibrahimtouman2279 I'm not sure about rotting in hell, but it probably shouldn't be trusted anywhere China's secrets are kept. There are still situations where it's useful for now, and successfully running it on an emulated hardware platform should be achievable.

I see this only as New Beginnings...of something far more advanced into the future. I know my Countrymen can do this well. They should focus on the Perfect Ecosystem. Thats about it. Driftinh away from the US and European Technology means We create something New For the world. They did this 100 years back. We are doing it 100 years later...So much has gone through the world of semiconductors...This will be our Rise here...The Human Brain should push for more Developments....Only if Politics Wills it!

Well they are trying. And I do agree, that's a great machine to learn coding and Linux is a great place to start. 65 watts is pretty good, it doesn't require a dang generator to run like Intel's recent chip sets. It's a step in the right direction, and I do believe there can be a market for this outside china.
