101 BLEACHING BROWS: AVOIDING CHEMICAL BURNS AND NO YELLOW TINT!

It's not my first go at bleaching brows! I was taught by Lorin V & Siko van Berkel at my hair course in 2016, bleached brows on set and I've done it to myself from Oct 2018 until may of this year! I thought it would be fun to go bleached again!

Now this tutorial is for those who are patient enough, who don't want irritated skin afterwards, that don't want chemical burns or hair falling out!
Products required:
Blue Bleach Powder - Think of L'Oreal Quick Blue
6% Developing Fluid - This will work for most people and won't cause chemical burns if you put it on for the required amount of time! 6% is equal to 20 VOL. Some people are okay with 30 vol but please pay attention to what you're feeling.
Vaseline or Elisabeth Arded 8 Hours cream. Anything super greasy will work!
A Spoolie + Bowl
Tissues
Cellophane foil
Warning: itchiness is fine. A burning sensation means it's hurting your skin! Take off the bleach immediately. I've seen a lot of people on youtube attempting at home bleaching and to no one's surprise, they've gotten chemical burns for not paying close enough attention. I have naturally light blonde eyebrows (they almost look white/invisible) and this trend makes me feel so much more confident. I finally feel like I don’t have to draw them on anymore

I bleached my brows platinum blonde every week for 3 years straight! Ugh I miss them so much! I used to also fill in my brows with a platinum blonde looking eyeshadow. I'm Asian and Hispanic and naturally my hair is almost jet black and very thick/coarse. I originally bleached them to match my white/platinum bleached short haircut I had for about a year. Then I died my hair back to black but I wasn't ready to let go of my bleached brows cuz I had fallen in love with them! 😍 So I continued to have bleached brows for the next two years, I wanted to keep them longer but a guy I started talking to at the time made me get rid of them which I was so sad about 😭 I felt like he didn't just let me be myself and accept my creativity with makeup and fashion.

If he want to control your self expression choices, then that's a huge red flag! I plan on dying my hair blue and bleaching and dying my eyebrows blue as well, but a friend of mine didn't really want me to do that.....but I'm not listening to him, I'm doing what makes me happy!

Finally did this following your video and it turned out AMAZING. I’ve been wanting to pull off the alien look since I was 15 and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Mine look a bit yellow still but that was to be expected since it’s the first time I bleach them and my eyebrows are very very dark and thick, but they work perfectly well nonetheless! I also left the bleach a on for only 20 minutes instead of 25 just to be extra careful, because I was using 30 volume 9% developer. Overall, amazing results. Thank you so much for the tutorial

i just bleached my brows yesterday so that they can be purple to match my hair. i bleach my normal hair so much so i’m used to it, i did everything right and i somehow burnt my skin 😩 just so glad it didn’t do any more damage, thank you for this tutorial though, i love your personality!!

Having sorta full brows with thicc hairs, it's a comfort seeing you end result. Saw some other "omg lol im gunna bleech my eyebrows" and it scared me off with their red irritated skin and yellow brows in the end. Thanks a lot for a well explained in-depth tutorial !

Wow you did an amazing job and made it look so easy! When you were cleaning them off, did you use a damp paper towel? And for maintenance, to help preserve the color so it lasts the longest, would you recommend like avoiding water and shampoo and facial products?

Just bleached my brows and your tutorials were really useful! I did it twice in two days because I wanted them to be very pale (my brows are black, and they turned very yellow the first time). It might have been a bad idea! Because the second time, it was burning... a lot!! Still, I left the bleach for about 15 minutes. I'm fine, but will wait before bleaching again... oops. Can't get rid of this yellow tint though, I'll try the silver shampoo. Thanks for your precious advices!
Joliane Dufresne hi Joliane! A hairdresser friend of mine Claire Healy recommended L’Oreal dialight 9.01 + 10 vol to get rid of any yellow! ❤️❤️❤️ it’s an ash dye that’ll get rid of that warmth in a heartbeat!
Celine Bernaerts I had a similar situation, my brows are dark and when I bleached them they turned quite yellow. Could I use the L’Oréal dye you recommended without bleaching them first or should I bleach them first and then use the dye?

Bleached mine yesterday for the first time and toned them to a pastel pink to match my hair... absolutely in love!!!! Cant believe I didnt do it sooner! Remember not to pluck your eyebrows beforehand though, didnt think about that when I did it haha

I would love to bleach my brows but I'm scared my brows might be too sparse and therefore I'd look like I have shaved brows instead... No not at all! It’s just to get the initial yellow out of the hairs! I usually do it once after bleaching And then let it be! 🤍🤍🤍

Ik weet niet of je nog een antwoord nodig hebt maar je kan het beste kijken bij winkels waar er goede pruiken en nephaar verkocht worden. Er is daar vaak ook haarverf en er zijn waarschijnlijk ook bleekproducten. Daar kan ik het in ieder geval altijd wel vinden!!

A little castor oil when they feel dry, but honestly they get enough ingredients and moisture from my daily skincare routine

I think it will!! Just know that the lower vol/% you go, the longer it has to stay on to fully bleach but there’s also less hazard of harming your skin! ❤️

Hi Celine. Thanks for the tutorial. I have dark almost black brows. I left it on for 10 mins, it started burning so I took it off. some of my hair is yellowish now and I see that a good amount of my eyebrow hairs have been burned off as I can see the black root coming out. Does this simply not work for some hair? I have coarse eyebrow hair. I'm wondering if the 20 vol developer is just too much for me....
If it started burning badly, 20 VOL really does seem to be too harsh for you! 💕💕💕💕

If you want to dye them pink you’re good with any bleaching powder! ❤️❤️❤️

Normal hair bleach works perfect! Don’t go too high in vol though! 🤍
Can you recommend anything to get rid of orange? Last time, I only did a part of my eyebrow and it was an orange color, but I want to prevent that.
Counter orange with blue shampoo. Purple shampoo only works on yellow and light yellow
For those who don't want to use bleach; a highlift blonde color also works. This is for brows that are dark blonde.

I think you might need a second session but yes leave a bit of time in between so you don’t overwhelm your skin! 🤍🤍🤍

You talk about root touchup, but how do you touch up the roots without getting bleach on the other parts of the eyebrow? Wouldn't they be different colours then?
You just put it on everything but leave it on way shorter!
I am a brow artist, but when my clients ask me to lighten there dark brown eyebrows to lightest brown, then it is really hard for me to do that. Because ligjt brown color doesn’t help to lighten the hair, is the bleach would be the best option to lighten up the brows? What is your recommendation

what do you reccommend for red haired people bleaching their brows? it takes a LONG time to bleach up enough to get a colour like blue or purple to look good, but i want turquoise brows

I wouldn’t do it then! Wait until the ink has faded because it kind of defies the purpose! You could try brow blocking! 💓
