Rachel is one of the prettiest women on TV, she is perfection.
I would never say " spit it out " to Rachel Riley lol
"Oh, did she eat the whole thing?! Oh, not the seeds... Alright I look so weird, but she just got a bunch of seeds. That's going to be hot! Spit it out!"😆
There's a ski resort at Aviemore in the Cairngorm mountains in Scotland and a number of dry ski slopes where people can learn and practice, but most people go to the alps to ski as it's just as easy to get there as Aviemore and better.
And cheaper. 🙂
Rachael and Susie are so prim and proper on the long running afternoon show Countdown ,continuous since the 80s . It's a staple of afternoons viewing and the contestants , members of the public , range from average to absolute screaming geniuses . Both throw themselves into the unlikely late night comedy mash up with 8 out of 10 cats and they are a big part in its now long running success .
rachael prim and proper? LOL i dont think so
I'll qualify that by adding " in comparison " but the day job is a bit more serious .
@@natmanprime4295 If you've ever spent time in a council estate, you'd think she's royalty by comparison
"Where do you guys go skiing when you're in the UK?"
We leave and annoy mainland Europeans in the French, Swiss, or Italian alps.
(there is one in Scotland I think though)
Anyone skiing in Norway?
@@scipioafricanus5871 possible but not popular
In Scotland we have the Cairngorm Mountain for skiing.
dont people cross country ski anymore?
There's 5 places you can ski in Scotland (only in the winter of course):
Cairngorm Mountain
Glencoe Mountain Resort
Nevis Range Snowsports
Lecht Ski Centre
Glenshee Ski Centre
skiing in the Cairngorms in Scotland
You can ski in 3 locations in Scotland. We used to go from school.
I still crush on Rachel Riley. She's sooooo pretty.
Rachel is great but suzi is my girl
You mean W@nk... And TBH, Sean was wrong, it's NOT challenging at all !
Any attraction vanishes knowing she had an affair.
1:10 your face lit up like a Christmas tree 😂 you're only human, mate.
Lol thanks, I forgot there was someone else on the screen.
Skiing in the Scottish Highlands every year very popular .Scotland provides many of the UK winter Olympic teams .The men's and women's Curling teams are all Scottish for example speed skating etc .
I have a super crush on Susie Dent.😍
You can ski in Scotland. But, knowing Rachel, she will go to Europe somewhere.
Even with the answer on the board you STILL struggled !? 8 x 72 = 576.
"She's a raving sort" -Danny Dyer
Skiing in the UK?
There are a handful of Ski centres in Scotland (Nevis Range, Glencoe, Cairngorms, Glenshee, The Lecht . . . )
But alot of brits do also jet off to europe for skiing - most commonly in the French, Swiss, Austrian or Italian Alps.
My brain is often blocked when Rachel is on the screen.
It OK Connor. Top Tip - If Rachel can't solve the Math in one go - it's almost impossible - and sometimes it is impossible - you can only get near the "final numbers".
Slo mo on the face whilst essentially looking at a mouthful of seed! Not creepy at all 😂😂
While there are a few ski slopes in Scotland, they aren't always available. Most people do the Alpine resorts (only a couple of hours by plane). I personally prefer the Pyrenees (much quieter on the French/Spanish border).
Rachel is blazing fast at factoring large-ish numbers. That's a big part of her skill at the number puzzles.
Seeds don't burn it's the placenta that burns
To answer your question about Skiing - there are a few dry slopes around the UK but for the most part Brits travel abroad to the Alps usually the french alps.
What about the Cairngorms in Scotland? Real snow and skiing in the mountains...
She is an incredibly stunning woman!
Countdown is brilliant! It help me learn to read when I was young.
We go skiing across the planet. But we can ski sometimes in Scotland but it's not as good as the Alps.
How isn't it as good. Are you a world class skier?
@@Mark-Haddow Hi Mark, I'm an awful skier. Are you comparing the world class skiing in Avimore and Eddie the Eagle's back garden let alone everywhere else including sand dunes. Scotland is an amazing place and I love it to pieces but I don't have to try and fool myself that Scotland is good for Skiing. Ben Nevis is also not good for skiing.. How is Scotland better for skiing? Mark, Sir you are a good troll and I salute you.
@@vomgrady
OK dokey. That gibberish doesn't alter reality, where Skiing in Scotland is extremely popular, and has significant numbers of UK skiers using Scotland's slopes. Fort William is a mountain biking, camping & outdoors activities centre.
Troll. That would be you.
11:34 she gets an even better solution.. "Ah yes, that's what i thought"
Yeah... right...
France , Andorra, Italy, Germany are places to skiiiii
To answer your question about skiing, yes either France, Switzerland or Austria, and certain areas of Italy
That was a REALLY slow light turning on. In the 1960s there was a boxer called Cassius Clay AKA Moh'd Ali who claimed that he could switch the bedroom light off at night and be in bed before it got dark .
If you watch the full episodes, you get to play along with the game ( time restraints included ).
You mean I shouldn't press ?
So eager to do the math, but couldn't work it out yourself .... made me laugh
For skiing we usually go to the Alps. At least that's where I went as a kid when my mum had a rich boyfriend.
Surprise, surprise .. here in the UK we also get snow in the winter! And we ski!
Rachel off countdown is my favourite lady on TV she is great, suzie is pretty cool too
according to QI it's not the seeds but the thing the seeds are on.
anyway currently binging the 8oo10c countdown playlist. currently 79 of 136.
You can ski most places in north of scotland, its always freezing here.
Connor NEVER reads the comments section... But if he did, I would explain he (like MANY people) are WRONG thinking that the seeds of a chilli pepper are the 'hottest part' - NOT TRUE (an urban myth). Thus, to clarify, although most people think that the 'hottest part' of a chilli is its seeds, in fact it is the white 'spongy layer' you find inside, called the placenta.
So cute. An American trying to appear inteligent. Bless.
The Alps are about 300 miles from London. It's like going to another state to ski.
5:27 She was hot already but add a very nice beard & helmet and well...
Not challenging for you, then?
The Alps are only a couple of hours flight away.... So most people go there. You can go on Scotland, but it's not a big destination
FYI: You are obviously NOT a 'proper' skier (if at all?), Otherwise you would have known that the 'Cairngorms National Park' is home to 3 out of Scotland’s 5 ski resorts and has many famous skiers visit it... SNOW varies across the world and world class skiers learn by trying different types. Scotland has some unique ski surfaces, and yes, for annual numbers of visitors, it will never do the same as the Alps or Andora (for example) - but so please don't just say "but it's not a big destination..." - because many well known skiers DO visit the Cairngorms. Just saying! 😎
@@stewedfishproductions7959 . I was obviously was referring to numbers 750,000 annually Scotland. 120,000,000 Alps.
@@jca111
I understand and also, having re-read my comment must apologise because it sounds very 'harsh', which was not my intent in any way... 😃
One of the guests is Sarah Millican. She is a very funny lady, you should check out one of her stand up shows. 😊
re skiing. I'm Swiss and there are quite a few Brits skiing in Switzerland. Usually only the rich ones though...
In answer to the question you asked before Sean's classic one-liner, there are a couple of ski fields in Scotland and several artificial slopes in England, but it's really easy to get to France or Switzerland from the UK.
Forgotten Austria perhaps ?
@@ideallogic no, just that it's further away than the other two :)
I'm assuming that Rachel means going to Switzerland or somewhere, because she'd still be recognised in the UK.
Andorra is a VERY popular skiing country (principality)... Most of their money and business is from ski resorts! 😎👌👍
Is that Bamburg castle at the top of the screen?
'8 out of 10 cats' was a late night panel show from a few years ago, hosted by Jimmy Carr. It was loosely about topics in the news at the time, which was the most 'popular' and an opportunity for comedians to show their abilities. It lasted a couple of seasons. It drew it's name from a TV commercial from a few years previously, where a range of cats were presented with a row of bowls of different cat foods. The kicker tag line was " 8 out of 10 cats prefer ******** ". 'Countdown' is an afternoon Channel 4 game show involving words & arithmetic, as with the show here. It has had several hosts in its long history, but Jimmy has never been one of them, it follows the format you see here, about 3 rounds of letters, one of numbers, repeated 3 times, followed by the 9 letter conundrum. Rachel is the second person to do the letters, & provide the mathematical answer, when one is possible [ no feed from behind the scenes apparently ]. Susie Dent is the long standing occupant of 'Dictionary Corner' which checks the validity of letter answers, and also suggests the best possible answers or alternatives. Originally there were a couple, but she has been the sole one for many years. She is an Oxford graduate [ like Rachel ], and lexicographer who has worked for OED [Oxford English Dictionary ]. Also during the show, there is a 'guest' in Dictionary Corner, who gets a 5 minute slot to perform, And Susie gets her own 'slot' to discuss word origins [ usually quite 'clean', since it is daytime TV ]
This is an obvious mashup of the two shows, but has really become a late night Countdown homage /piss-take, with Jimmy as host.
The opening of '8 out of 10 cats' was very atypical of a British game / panel show, with introductions that seemed far more 'American' than a typical UK show. This was either an intentional dig at US shows, or indicated that it had been made with half an eye to US sale. Even the colour of the sets seemed very atypical.
They did a mashup of various Channel 4 shows for a fund-raiser one time (probably "Stand up 2 cancer"), so they were all supposed to be funny one-off shows, but Cats does Countdown was so popular they ended up doing proper series of it - there have been lots of series of Cats does Countdown now.
" a few seasons" as in 22 seasons.
We've all zoomed in on the face.
After Lee Mack asks if zero is the number of friends she's got, she says 'The numbers are my friends!'
8 x 70 is 560. 8 x 2 is 16 and that gets you to 576
Using each number only once;
6!+3+3-(1+1)*75 = 576
Skiing: yes, mainland Europe, mainly southern Germany/Switzerland/Austria/northern Italy or the French/Belgian alps
When I was little my nan and grandad recorded the original countdown. Then every evening they'd play it back and pause it to try and win. Cats dies countdown is the comedy version
The UK is in Europe, loads of great skiing resorts all over.
There’s even an indoor ski slope in Casleford
I love Rachel so much
skiing in scotland
4:25 ., there was something about an Inquiry, at some point.,
Rachel Riley is a f***ing goddess.
I actually know her brother Alex. He’s a top lad with a great sense of humour. Had a lot of fun winding him up about how gorgeous his sister is. 🤣🤣
"cuntflaps" was the best countdown moment
You not making the US education system look good😂
The last one I got "SERMON" or "DRONES"
They ske in Scotland in uk
They also SKI... lol
Really, we had this quiz 40 years ago.
In the math part you don’t have to use all the numbers, but you can’t create fractions to work out the number. Sometimes the numbers can’t be made to get the answer.
Ya got to 560 plus 16 and went with 572??? Proof that brains can fart!
We go skiing in France, Switzerland, Austria etc so yes, mainland Europe.
Also Andorra...
Love this show. Americans have anything similar
How about the Scottish Highlands ??
All that and brains too
Hi, what’s the name of that medieval castle? Looks like a really impressive structure.
Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland.
Thanks!
14:00 "Morons" was there for six points.
and doormen for 7
Young man you will go blind watching Rachel 🙃🏴🤪🤩
Where do you go skiing in the UK...
We go to another country! Just cause it barely snows here doesn't mean all out activities are locked to the uk alone. We have passports and we do live off past explorations
France
Her husbands Russian so learning its not that odd a choice
Hi Connor ✋
She broke her first husband's heart by making off with her dance partner from Strictly Come Dancing.... poor man, I only know how it feels having your heart broken
Most first marriages end because when you first get married, you find out that there are other values to be had and that the position that you are in is not right for you. I believe that she and Jamie are on really good terms now. It happens and it is their business, not ours.
I didn't know that. That's appalling.
@@StimParavane so what you would like is for her to stay with a guy for the rest of her life after finding out that she should not have married him? well, would you?
@@honestchris7472 Maybe she should have dated him more and realised that marriage isn't just to have a title, rather than lead him on, I bet deep down even if he's apparently on good terms it must hurt him a lot inside. I'm glad I'm never getting married just don't understand why you need it even.
@@Da1Dez well, they did date when they were at university together but you only find out whether it will work once you get married and it is very common for it not to work and in this case it did not. The problem is that only her and her first husband know what was going wrong. I don`t think that she was leading him on, she just expected more from the marriage than he gave her. Being hurt from break ups is part of life, it has happened to millions of people, including me, my first wife had an affair and that ended our marriage and we had a child, Rachel did not have children so it was a blessing but she seems to be very happy in her marriage to Pasha now and has two children, I would say that she made the right choice. As for you not getting married, well that is a matter for only you to decide, I did get married again and I have been happy ever since. I don`t know exactly how not being married can effect a person in later life, for property or a home, or even children, I have read some really bad stories of people not married and the partner being given nothing after a break up or death.
I'd like to overhear Rachel and Diane Morgan in a pub...discussing Russian history.
Here's a suggestion for hilarious well beyond yank prudery based on Alistair Cambell, Tony Blair's rotweiler. The Thick of It - British politics exposed
"8 x 72 = 72, guys I'm good at math"
.....
Yeah - he did 56 + 16 though, forgetting that it's 560 + 16. the kind of mistake you make when you're not writing the sum down. I did love the fact that Rachel then suddenly noticed she could make 24 * 24 = 576 out of the same numbers too - that was awesome.
Geezus is he actually trying to solve the problems while all this is going on?
can't have proper nouns I'm afraid, romeo, nerfertiti etc. Dorms was there though lol
Careful elk 68
yer we go to the alps or Scandinavia
Challenge accepted
Hey Connor
Rachel Riley = the most beautiful woman on TV….. no wait, on the planet…. No wait, in the Universe ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❣️❣️❣️❣️
Sean was totally wrong in your case... (and mine!!!). 😎
The program is hilarious, but... this was your reactions? I see....
Watch an episode of you wanna play
If you want to do the games you have to watch full shows, not compilations.
Oh, and you can't have names in the letter round.
Just so you know, you cannot use proper names in the letters round. So Romeo is not a valid answer.
The only bit that made you look weird bro...and I’m sure the rest of the males in the comment section was 8.30...’spit out’... when I’m sure we all thought swallow...sorry I couldn’t help myself...because I know that’s what you thought but said that because you saw it on UA-cam while recording yaself....UA-cam guidelines n algorithms would been a better excuse...because us fellas ARE NOT CURVE BALKED BY THE “weirdo” excuse bro 😂😂😂😂😂
I lived in the UK for 3 years from 2002. I remember Countdown, This show is very British, lots of lame gags and people laughing like crazy am I'm just not getting any of it.
It is generally referred to as ''Satirical wit'' playing on innuendo and self deprecation, intelligence helps a bit too to get the subtle jokes dear boy, don't worry through your in good company 90% of americans not getting any of it either, satirical comedies like Blackadder series monty python they say they get it but, it goes way over american heads. The only american that got british comedy was Robin williams and a few others RIP sir
The video of your wonderful person keeps getting worse. Low contrast and low resolution. I wonder if the lens needs cleaning. Backgrounds and the video reacted upon all looks ok.
She’s no icon
We all need a Rachel Riley for a wife! Please... lol
so she got a mount full of seed and needs to spit it out right ??
iiiiiiiiii don't think you thought that one through tbh.
Hey my guy, we all know you're a good guy and no weirdo. Don't worry about it.
