Very keen detail about the 2 colors of SAS berets depicted here that the CoD developers thought about. The SAS was formed in Egypt and they adopted a beige beret (outside the army heraldry). they wore this unofficial beret throughout the North African and Mediterranean campaign as they were not subjected to any higher HQ and regulations. But when 2SAS was created in the UK and the original SAS (now designated as 1SAS) came to the UK to prepare for D-Day, they were forced to wear the maroon beret - as they were part of the I Airborne Corps. But some originals chose to wear the beige beret against regulations. When the SAS was re-raised in 1947 as 21st SAS Artist Rifles (TA) they again wore the maroon beret. In 1956 however the SAS officially adopted the beige beret again.
Agreed. However, Doyle's character was an ex RAF Air Gunner in nineteen forty one. Having been shot down, and bailed out into enemy territory, he met Captain Price, and was involved in SOE lead resistance operations, before going on to the SAS. By D-Day, Doyle knew his stuff.
Back in world war it's pretty possible that even privates have better experience than a sergeant......it's possible maybe the corporal didn't get the chance to give exams to become the sarge.... Also if u played COD United offensive, you know Doyle is A Royale Airforce Plane Gunner Who later recruited By Major Ingram In SOE And SAS For His Good Demonstration in Field Duty But Ofcourse he has less combat experience than the others..yes He has the potential..that's it
fun fact tho. Sgt. Doyle (the SAS you're playing as) used to be an Aircraft Gunner until it was shot down, and rescued by Major Ingram when he was stuck on a tree. Doyle then assisted Ingram with his mission, and Doyle really excelled. He impressed Ingram so much that Ingram actually made a recommendation letter for Doyle to be promoted and made into an SAS Operator.
When I was younger I never played for the story I just played because of plenty of other reasons, I wish payed more attention to the story. I loved this game.
Back in the original CODs even World At War most of the main characters you play as are random nobodies thrown into the battlefield, This is true in real war because most of those who did the job were mostly anonymous soldiers or whoever doing the fighting.
A quick question to you all, how the hell do you pass the stealth part of the missions without alerting the enemy? I’ve been trying to avoid by bashing the same 3 guys and try to move around the house but I somehow ended up getting spotted.
looool i never knew about this but this Sergeant Doyle we play in cod 3 is the same guy from call of duty united offensive omg! And this explains why Maj. Ingram already knew about Sgt. Doyle!
So you think Vanguard was supposed to be like a Eagle has Landed take on war, like how COD3 reminds me of maybe 50's ww2 movies? It was fun to play and hear history while playing with my granny as a kid. It'll always hold a special place with me.
when cod 3 has more detail than vanguard and cod ww2 that vehicle section lookee way better with destructible environment the tire tracks this was almost 20 years ago now shit games really did go downhill the campaign was what mad cod great mulitplayer was funnfor the grind and to play with friends but campaign always had replay value to me always until bo3 even mw3 had a good campaign
The first time I saw COD3's graphics, I thought this is going to be the most realistic and grittiest game ever.
I agree
And you were correct
When i was 10 YO , this game's.... the coolest CoD because we can drive the Jeep.... LOL

Most truthful words spoken in the entire series of COD.
That Scottish SAS reminds me to another Scottish SAS of the CoD franchise.

SAS sniper demolition goes by Soap
@Jake K Soap from MW franchise

The first CoD I ever played (and perhaps, one the first games I ever played as well)! The nostalgia is real!
Loved how this Corporal constantly dictated orders to Sergeant Doyle.
Could be the Corporal has more combat experience. It happens.
Just because he might have more experience doesnt mean he is going to be ordering a sergeant.

Could be his close friend.

I get that old cod protagonists are faceless and voiceless, but how they gonna make Sgt. James Doyle take orders from Cpl. Keith?
