Delightful Sinfonia by an Italian composer new to me. Like many took the route to Classical style rather than stay with the Baroque his friendship with JC Bach influenced his music . ❤Thank you Pau

Bella musica! The Hague was at the center of the music publishing business. Almost as soon as Ricci moved there he became well-known, began to publish his works: Sinfonie,..., Trios; "Dies Irae", the work that would bring Ricci international fame as far as England and the New World, came out ca. 1773 with the signatures “A Stechwey” (the engraver) and “F. P. Ricci A 65” on the last page (to protect his copyright). In 1779 Ricci published his Recueil de Connaissances Elementaires pour le Forte-piano (Collection of Elementary Knowledge for the Forte-piano). The book was illegally printed by a bookseller in Paris adding the name J.C. Bach - this can be seen by the fact that the book does not have a signature: “A Stechwey” (the engraver) and “F. P. Ricci A 65”(!)

Very enjoyable and uplifting gallant style. About amazing artwork ( brown ink and wash ) above: The Galli Bibiena family were Italian architects and scenic artists. They worked throughout Europe during the late 17th and 18th centuries creating elaborate sets for theatres and events hosted by wealthy patrons.Because their work was mostly created as temporary decoration, little of it has survived. This complex and beautifully detailed drawing offers a rare glimpse into the splendour and richness of the imaginary worlds created by this family of artists and decorators. He studied in Milan with Giuseppe Vignati. He has brilliant sacred works (continuation of Sammartini): Lezione terza per il Mercoledì Santo Miserere; Dies irae, Stabat Mater, Miserere....

The Milan symphonic school may have inspired him. What a pity that in XIX century the instrumental music has been forgotten in Italy! Verdi wrote an amazing quartet but.... only one and no symphonies, Puccini delightful interludes but no chamber or symphonic music like mascagni and Cilea, Martucci should be rediscovered even if he is not at the same level of German composers of course.

Sometimes I think that pieces of such nimble and quickened aesthetics will ultimately induce the canon to modify
