Finally, someone talking about the struggles different people might face. Life is not all rosy and perfect like most other youtubers talk about! Thank you, Vee. Really thankful for talking about the different circumstances people might face while at home.
You're so kind, Vee. You describing that many students live in not-so-great family and house conditions literally brought tears to my eyes. There are so many students who have ill (not covid) family members, there are students who live in small apartments with their families, who have to do most of the house chores, etc. And nobody really gives advice which would include all these students too besides the privileged ones. People don't really recognize their privileges deep down. Thank you for addressing these students, Vee. More power to you girl!
I love this. Not everything is black and white. People need to remember that... Honestly, sometimes I get so disheartened when I see people on my Instagram stories in nice, normal households, dare I say, I even envy them. And I think the same as you; they don't realise HOW privileged they are. But gotta remind myself to be grateful, always. Many do not even have a roof over their heads; as hard and sad as it can be sometimes, I'm fortunate to have a roof- dysfunctional or not. After all, we are studying to improve the quality of our lives. To live a good, decent, healthy life in the future. That thought is enough to keep me going. :)

Everybody in my house came to talk to me about my supposed 'behavior' and in the end we had a family meeting about respect. I'm just tired 😩
lol!!! i had a very similar experiences (plural)! just dont resent them. years later those memories are funny and after living alone for a while, i miss them very much. i remember thinking, i cant wait to get out of here or if i lived alone and worse if i had a different family. I’m working from home for the 7th week in a row. Just this week started implementing a 25+5 minute timer (not Forest, but I’m planning to switch over to that) for work, except instead of a fun break, I go do something useful for five minutes. Wipe a table, load the washing machine, sweep half of the kitchen. Then the rest of the day, I get to do whatever I want and don’t need to stress about cleaning. It’s a life-changer! I’m focusing on work much better, getting chores done, AND am much less stressed! I have a lot of vacation and temporary layoff time coming up, and I plan to implement and expand this system so I can actually get things done (reading, studying, even knitting) during my weeks off. I would definitely recommend both a good to-do list and a timer app to anyone, student or not.
Girl, you shine. Like seriously you’re stunning and so down to earth. Total role model. Same for me, in my house I have to do all the chores while preparing for my finals. Also, there’s so much noise in my house because of my siblings.
Thank you so much for the video. I actually stopped watching productivity tips videos because of how unrealistic they are to be applied in my situation. Your perspective has opened up my mind to change myself because really, no one could change themselves solely to cater us. God bless you, Vee!
Girl, I'm not even in school anymore but had to 'like' before the 2:00 min mark. This was my lifeee! THANK YOU for bringing this realistic/unique perspective. Waking up early, keeping a schedule, and being creative is key!

How, and I mean HOW, did I only find this video TODAY?! The whole pandemic up until now was me basically arguing for time spend alone working to get my sh** done. Wow, just wow! What a brilliant and useful video!! I am in awe of your realism and empathy for struggling people.
I totally get u... Exact same situation here...I'm never isolated from my family..u know u have to help them out with a lot of things..chores........i appreciate your honesty...
I have been procrastinating now for over a week and my thesis is due in May. I just don’t have the motivation anymore. I am trying to find that motivation again to continue with my thesis. 😩😩😩
I've been there for a while, lack of motivation is just horrible. One thing that have been efficient on me is thinking about all the regrets I'll have if I keep avoiding work, remember why you have to do that thesis, why you've been choosing those studies, there's obviously something that you like in them, just think about it, motivation will come, and when it'll come JUST DO THAT FU*KING THEISIS YOU GOT THIS
omg i thought I was the only one. My parent doesnt have to go out to work but i still have to do chores and help with younger siblings. I am in year 12 and I have assessments coming up which will form part of my predicted grade for uni but I just havent had any time to revise and they are in two weeks now. My mocks went horribly so I cannot have them to fall back on. Im so scared that I will get a rubbish grade cause the uni course I want to do is highly competitive. I cant tell my teachers that i couldnt revise cause I was cleaning and helping others with homework because that is such a poor excuse and what does it say about my priorities and dedication to my work, Plus im sure there are others who are in my position and have managed to still revise but coming from an asian household my family and school are both giving me so much anxiety
Just like Vee said, wake up earlier than your family, and do the most important tasks then, record your notes and listen to them when you're cleaning or cooking or whatever, make summaries of your notes on post-its and paste them on your mirror and cupboard and kitchen cabinets, in this way you can study when you're brushing your hair or cooking, don't sacrifice your sleep... Hope this helped
I feel like so many people don't understand listening to music while studying. It really helps me concentrate on the task at hand, so thanks for including this tip!
YES VEE, EXACTLY, I'm 45 seconds on this video and omg EXACTLY. Those videos are not realistic, a least for me. I have obligations, I have to clean, I have to do laundry, I have to clean outside and make lunch and diner EVERY DAY. And I have to do homework and take classes. And I can't avoid procastination. If I have a few hours to do nothing, I take them. And it's affecting my study. I am so behind on my classes and revisión. I'll watch your video hoping this would help jaja
I'm kinda late here, but ...Woow giirll, the first one talkng about productivity while having difficult family situations! I soo feel you, because in my eastern european country, we don't have this easy alone time either. Our parents ambush our rooms like crazy even if we sleep or having an online lecture and they don't care. They even can introduce themselves to our profesors and other students, like it's normal XDDD. And may God be with you, if you disrespect the family gatherings! Some of them, like my mother, even wake up in 3am to come and tell you to go to sleep already and if you wake up earlier the next day, you'll be yelled at again, cause you destroyed your sleep schedule!! It's really rough, but I'm glad I found your chanel through this video, it seems realy motivating and relatable for university students like me. Now I might just go and binge watch all your stuff!
THANK YOU!!! I'm portuguese and I can relate to your situation so much. Chores, conflict, responsibilities with my sibling, driving my mother to and from work, sharing a room with my brother every other week (divorced parents), cooking every meal because I'm vegetarian... it's hard. Waking up before them has been my jam since early tennage years!
omg, thank you, that's exactly my situation, I'm glad someone has posted their realistic routine and pointed out that not every student has perfect study environment
Thank you so much for this video. I related so much when you said you've watched SOOO many videos on how to be productive but they didn't really help much. Of course, I pick up a few tips and tricks, but nothing to help with the convenience of my schedule. The way you talked about each and every one of these tips was so realistic and applicable to whatever environment you're in. Thank you, thank you, can't say that enough!
I can't say enough how nice it was for you to end by emphasizing that you may not be able to do much, or anything at all, and that's fine. I'm so tired of seeing people say that you now have time to do everything, that you should come out of this as a new and better person with all the life skills you need, simply because for a lot of us, this isn't the reality. Just getting through all essays now is a nightmare, and I'm dreading my exams so badly, because I know they might go really bad - and at the end of the day, that is fine in these circumstances.
I love the message at the end, so helpful given the circumstances! I’ve had good days and bad days, as have we all. But on bad days I just have to remind myself that it’s okay to have them.
why does my very first thought is ‘i will never not procrastinate’ then ‘okay, i'll watch and try’ and on positive note; the revisions tips really work, thank you
Thank you so much for this! I’m very privileged to have my own room where I feel very comfortable in, I have the means to exercise and all of the space and all of that, but since my Mom went to my grandma’s house at the beginning of this current situation, a lot of the chores and cooking and things like that fall on me. I don’t mind the responsibility at all, but sometimes it’s difficult when other people in the house don’t understand you have to spend half of the day studying, just because it’s not a field of work they’re familiar with.. I’m a law student and I’ve had a 48-hour exam over the weekend and I excused myself from everything in the house by doing the minimum of chores (just cleaning after myself and taking care of my dog as I do every day), but in the middle of that exam still encountered sentences like; “Aren’t you going to help me clean stuff?” and every time I come downstairs for a break and to get my next cup of tea there’s this assumption that just because I’m not locked in my room that I have free time.. So I am so grateful for this video, I think I’m gonna keep rewatching it throughout the weeks! Thank you for putting this out there, and I hope you’ll have an amazing week ❤️
Those are great tips Vee! I have a very big difficulty writing, which is a problem since I have to submit my Ph.D. thesis soon. I used your tip of waking up early to work on my writing and started waking up 4 AM to focus on my thesis. Those 4 initial hours of the morning are being the most productive time I had in years! Amazing tip!
Brilliant tips, Vee. I like the idea of having to-do lists and taking a break every now and then to refresh yourself physically and mentally. That's a great form of self-care.
If you're living with flatmates and you're getting easily distracted by just sitting at the breakfast table forever like i am do early study sessions before breakfast. I've been getting up at 8am several times now, just made a coffee for everyone and then sat together until 10 to do the work that really needs to be done before even having breakfast. Uni just started again for me so this has been really helpful for properly getting into studying and makes me feel much better during the day.
I have watched a lot of your videos literally at midnight despite my sleepiness and I felt sooooo inspired to bounce back in studying. I have been trying different study methods which all worked at the beginning but eventually got me tired and bored. After watching your videos, I really learned a lot and I knew that the method you just showed was the one I have been looking for my whole life. I just have to adopt it according to my own lifestyle, learning style, etc. And I just want to let you know how humble and inspiring you are ❤️ I have just found someone who can give study tips that are realistic and effective. New subscriber and fan here 🙋🏼♀️
wow that was really cool,i'm most def gonna try the "study with me " and zoom with friends just studying..i've never thought of that!.thanks for the great tips'
I'm so thankful for this all the other videos make it seem as if you can schedule the whole day as a study day, but here it's impossible to lock your self in your room without helping, especially that it's Ramadan. most of the time we are cooking or cleaning and you are obligated to join
my go-to study music is ratatouille soundtrack, UGH amazing. I also find it pretty useful to have different soundtracks for each subject you study, it gets you in the mood to study that subject, from my pov.
Thank you so much for this!!! I am lucky to have my own space but since I moved out already it doesn’t have the best utilities anymore to study (small table etc.). However it is exactly like you said that as soon as you are back in the household your family wants you to contribute and whilst that is just logical and of course I will do so bc I am part of it now, it is sometimes hard because I feel like they are prioritising things that I would neglect when I am in my own rhythm at uni and I am stressed. But you cannot neglect those things here. So I found what works best for me this week was to really get up early before the rest of the house is awake, do your chores and everything before they wake up and get this first sesh of work done before they finish their morning coffee bc from then on I will for sure get interrupted every 10min what is really hard for someone with my attention span. So yes I can underline that point and verify that it really helps, although I’m not a fan of it!! And the watching study with me part is true as well really helps to get some library vibe into your bedroom 😅 thank you vee for your motivation and greetzz from ger ☺️
Omg a procrastination advice vid that actually works ❤ can relate a lot to your family set-up. I can't just light a meditation candle in the morning and be left in peace like all these youtubers lol
So if anyone does not want to delete apps and then download it again you can use a app called flipd I have recently started using it in that app you can set the timer for eg like 15 min so for that minutes you cannot use any of the apps in your phone so it basically shuts you out of your own phone Hope it helps you 😃😃
Procrastinating by watching your videos on how not to procrastinate... I'm on whole new level of procrastination there 😯 Great video anyway, love it! 🎉
This video brings huge comfort for me & reminded me that we’re all going thru similar things around the world. I’m Polynesian & understand the struggle of having a lot to do before even thinking about yourself & studies 😭 I homeschool my brother, take care of the household, I’ve become a counsellor, a fitness trainer, take charge of our daily routine lists so we’re all on the same page, take meetings to touch base with my family at home. It’s been tiring & I’m feeling myself slow down where I’m not taking care of myself mentally, ill get thru but I just wanted to say thank you for keeping it real & reminding us all this is a stressful time but also tips on how we can better our day or work around mini obstacles of our surroundings. Keep safe Vee❤️🌸
THANK YOU!! omg this is so helpful I spend so many hours of my day doing chores that I find most common advice not really practical so thank you for this video
Vee, I just want to say that I'm really thankful that you are making these videos. When I wish I had someone to ask for advice and really need help or guidance with my time management and with studying, I can go on UA-cam and look for your videos. They really work for me, and I'm super happy I found you. AlhamduliLLAH. ^^ Sending a hug and lots of love to you, Vee. The wonderful talk you gave at the end of the video is something I really needed to hear.
I don't usually comment on any videos on UA-cam, but, girl, your videos are amazing! You are so real and relatable and I just love your personality! Keep doing what your doing
Thank you Vee! I am a Mum of two children and also studying for a post grad course so working around the family is key, particularly now, whilst home schooling!!!
Amazing video! I appreciate you stating and making a video for those that do not have the laid back households in which they can just hide away alone. I am a student, but I am also a mother so I do not have the same leeway with locking myself away to be productive.
Thank you vee, I really needed this because I was comparing myself to my friends who don't have chores and have the time to study for 12 hours straight and I can't do that. Today I was doubting myself because of it.
on the subject of study music: video games music! it's usually instrumental and designed to keep you in focus on the task at hand, so it acts as some kind of brain screen saver music. i recommend the silent hill ost, amanita design game soundtracks (machinarium, botanicula, samorost), animal crossing (which i don't play but the music helps a lot), or any other game you love. i have completed countless of essays to the sinister tunes of silent hill!!
Thank you for the kind words at the end! Although everybody around me is still healthy, I am not in the best place atm. So, what you said felt really encouraging.
I live in a household where I gotta contribute and spend time with family, and in addition my grandad is in hospital severely ill with corona. It's a hard time to still be trying to study and complete assignments.
Vee, when I use to study at university and at a community college, I always studied alone in my bedroom because it was nice and quiet. I never studied in the kitchen or living room because it was too noisy with the T.V. on. Whenever I wrote essays, I always wrote them in the afternoon because it gave me more time to think what was I going to write. Mornings did not work for me, so I went in the morning for a walk to help me develop ideas for my essays.
Thank you so much for these tips, Vee! I'm a university student living with my Portuguese immigrant parents in the UK so the concept of personal time is definitely not a thing, but these tips were definitely very helpful. I hope you stay safe!
Finally, someone talking about the struggles different people might face. Life is not all rosy and perfect like most other youtubers talk about! Thank you, Vee. Really thankful for talking about the different circumstances people might face while at home.

I relate with u on that african child not having their own time...
Thanks for the video
Promise I'll stop procrastinating
love from South Africa❤️
How, and I mean HOW, did I only find this video TODAY?! The whole pandemic up until now was me basically arguing for time spend alone working to get my sh** done. Wow, just wow! What a brilliant and useful video!! I am in awe of your realism and empathy for struggling people.
School work gets overwhelming at times and having to have everything clean all the time just adds to it 😭
I totally get u...
Just get things done. I wish you all the courage
@Nebula Blue thank you for this🥺 I needed it
I've been there for a while, lack of motivation is just horrible. One thing that have been efficient on me is thinking about all the regrets I'll have if I keep avoiding work, remember why you have to do that thesis, why you've been choosing those studies, there's obviously something that you like in them, just think about it, motivation will come, and when it'll come JUST DO THAT FU*KING THEISIS YOU GOT THIS
That's why you need to be disciplined
omg i thought I was the only one.
I hope you do well and I can't relate. I wish you all the best 💟💟
So sorry..I hope everything works out for you)
Just like Vee said, wake up earlier than your family, and do the most important tasks then, record your notes and listen to them when you're cleaning or cooking or whatever, make summaries of your notes on post-its and paste them on your mirror and cupboard and kitchen cabinets, in this way you can study when you're brushing your hair or cooking, don't sacrifice your sleep... Hope this helped
Don’t worry you got this. :) Btw you have mocks? Like the year 12 summer mocks which will be used for uni predictions? Are you doing it online?
This is so relatable !
I hope you are able to do everything well and won't stress too much .
Fighting! Lets do our best!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE seeing a hardworking African woman.
Thank you for your realism :) I can relate to having a less 'perfect' environment when studying so i appreciate this a lot.
omg, thank you, that's exactly my situation, I'm glad someone has posted their realistic routine and pointed out that not every student has perfect study environment
So true. These aren't normal circumstances
you don't know how much I am thankful for that .something realistic
I love the message at the end, so helpful given the circumstances! I’ve had good days and bad days, as have we all. But on bad days I just have to remind myself that it’s okay to have them.
Honestly chores is such a big part of my study life at home ‼️😂
I felt that‼️
why does my very first thought is ‘i will never not procrastinate’ then ‘okay, i'll watch and try’ and on positive note; the revisions tips really work, thank you
I always procrastinate my works, e.g. the due date is tomorrow night and I will do it tomorrow. You have been helpful, Vee. Thanks for the video.
just the intro to this video was so relatable oh my daysss. I've been struggling sooo much to balance the chores, family time and my work. Thank you
You can't even say "leave me alone" if you wanna live. OMG TRUTH 😂😂 Can't wait to when everything will go back to normal so I can move back out😂
Thank you so much for this!
This is why diversity matters. Different content creators creating videos from different perspectives and cultures. YES. I STAN.
Brilliant tips, Vee. I like the idea of having to-do lists and taking a break every now and then to refresh yourself physically and mentally. That's a great form of self-care.
ive been watching the wrong procrastination fixing videos my whole life... Thank you so much for this video Vee!!!
Never thought I would say this, but I miss the library so much 😭
I have watched a lot of your videos literally at midnight despite my sleepiness and I felt sooooo inspired to bounce back in studying. New subscriber and fan here 🙋🏼♀️
It makes me feel good knowing young people like you are the future leaders. Watching this as I procrastinate on my doctoral work
Quarantine has me acting like school doesn't even exist anymore😭 I'm two assignments behind 😭
emma that’s not a lot
Samee😭😭
Vee is African. I am Indian.
Vee needs to do the chores. I am required to do chores.
Vee is vee. I am Vee.
Love the necklace,btw😜💖
😂😂😂what the
Same here..i Also have to conttribute to my house by doing some or the other chore
Same here! Latin American society still kind of relies in the women's role as a housemaid :/
Rocío González Meza same in south Asian culture :/
Can totally relate to your African household !!
I'm from an asian household
There's atleast somebody who speaks about it❤️
wow that was really cool,i'm most def gonna try the "study with me " and zoom with friends just studying..i've never thought of that!.thanks for the great tips'
So if anyone does not want to delete apps and then download it again you can use a app called flipd I have recently started using it in that app you can set the timer for eg like 15 min so for that minutes you cannot use any of the apps in your phone so it basically shuts you out of your own phone
Hope it helps you 😃😃
Procrastinating by watching your videos on how not to procrastinate... I'm on whole new level of procrastination there 😯
Great video anyway, love it!
THANK YOU!! omg this is so helpful I spend so many hours of my day doing chores that I find most common advice not really practical so thank you for this video
this is so needed veeee!!! I'm an international student studying in UK. and now there's the pandemic and everything is a mess😭
Keep doing what your doing
when your family wakes up at 6 am and doesn't even let you stay up past 10
THIS!! honestly if i don't stay up late i won't get work done, but they don't let me 😐
Thank you Vee! I am a Mum of two children and also studying for a post grad course so working around the family is key, particularly now, whilst home schooling!!!
I have a months worth of overdue work 😭 I’m doing it all tonight and then I’m taking this advice ❤️
Amazing video! I appreciate you stating and making a video for those that do not have the laid back households in which they can just hide away alone. I am a student, but I am also a mother so I do not have the same leeway with locking myself away to be productive.
Vee I literally HUGGED my phone because of my gratefulness to you!! THANK YOU xx
It is the high time to do something..... 😀 so no procrastinating.... it was motivational... tnx vee..LOVE FROM BANGLADESH ❤💓💜💘💛💚💙
Your words are gold. It’s hard when I forget that these days are not easy. I keep going hard on myself so hearing you say that is a great reminder❤️
I was not looking for this but I'm so glad I found it, I absolutely love your channel :)
Thank you for the kind words at the end! Although everybody around me is still healthy, I am not in the best place atm. So, what you said felt really encouraging.
Finally someone who understands the life of growing up in an African household!!!! Thank you Vee!!! ❤❤❤❤💃💃💃
Blessings!!! Thanks for acknowledging that everyone’s home life/commitments are different. This will definitely help people!
Awesome video! Its great to see someone who is not so close minded towards peoples struggles. Thanks for the perspective. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for these tips, Vee! I'm a university student living with my Portuguese immigrant parents in the UK so the concept of personal time is definitely not a thing, but these tips were definitely very helpful. I hope you stay safe!
Study with me’s have been life saving for online classes!
I love Ruby Granger too 🤍 You’re both my favourite studytubers
when you said African home i jumped off my chair and starting o'lord if only they knew.
thank you so much for this more realistic version! i wish i found this earlier but oh well, better late than never
I know the struggle as I'm apart of a West Indian household so trust me, I understand... Thanks Vee!
Thank you Vee! I appreciate your efficient and positive content. Keep up the great work! I will continue to support you!
