- Brief history of the Horseshoe Casino Downtown Las Vegas, in 1951 Benny Binion bought the Eldorado Club and the Hotel Apache, renaming the Joint The Horseshoe. In 1953 Benny had to go to Prison for Tax evasion and he sold the Place on Paper only to Joe W. Brown a Texas Oilman. With the understanding that after Benny got out of Prison, the Binion's would take control again. By 1964 they had regained control of the Horseshoe and it remained in the Binion Family until 2004, when Becky sold it.
Good job. Thanks..
This is so interesting. I read a book about Jack Benion and his demise. It is very interesting and sad at the same time.
I think you mean Ted, especially as Jack is still alive as I type this.
This was a great short video I like it!
Bennie still kept a piece of the gambling racket back in dallas Texas.
Facts i never new
Where’s the 2 dollar steak dinner🤣😂
1994.
Apparently his daughter sold of the million dollars that was in 10,000 bills, separately. Luckily we have a picture of us in front of it we took in 1997.
Yep, Becky Binion sold off that Treasure on the (HSN) Home Shopping Network, sad
THIS is what i was digging thru UA-cam to figure out; Thanks for info & yes, I concur the selling off of that thru HSN is really sad, as I too, along w/my sibs & parents, have either some film pictures or, some VHS camcorder recording of us in front of that Horseshoe @ ‘93-ish… I always wondered what had happened too that $1 M in 100 $10K bills, circa 1928, after all of that Binion fam drama unfolded! Was watching some classic reruns of the great show, Unsolved Mysteries & an ep came on about Ted & his casino &… that SILVER STASH!! Crazy! From one source I read online, it was apparently $14 M worth, back then! Like, 24 TONS WORTH! Pretty insane but, to think of holding them 100 bills stacked up in one hand (easily doable; approximately half an inch total thickness for any stack of just 100 bills), equaling face value of a whole one million bucks was always way crazy to me back then. Then, one considers the ABOVE face value them $10K bills go for, collector value wise 🤯
Binion leased the land that the property sat on, from the builder of the Apache Hotel (Casino). The family of the builder (Silvagni), had lease agreements with Binion since the year he purchased building. In summer '72, the mouthpiece (Coulthard) for the Silvagni family was killed, when he started his vehicle at his office. It is strongly rumored that Binion was behind the killing, supposedly for a disagreement with Coulthard on the terms of the new lease that was being negotiated at the time.
Great Comment, thanks for the reminder of how ruthless the Binions could be if Needed to be
do you know anything about Doby Doc?
He died a few years before I got to Vegas but in his later years he hung out at the Horseshoe. That is where all the real Gamblers hung out. Vegas once was a Cowboy Gambler Town with a Old West attitude.
cheers, and thank you. just looking for information about his antiques and collectables. :)
Keep up the Binions videos what about the bonanza home? Where is your video on that?
Ya, I worked with an old violent guy at the MGM in 76 He robbed a bank there in the 40's. And spent some time in prison. To bad DC Is not locked down as a Fedral Prison.
That's where I stayed back in 2001... the horseshoe
Dana White 🎉
whhhhhhhhhhhhhy would someone with most likely millions evade taxes ??? makes no sense
That would be like admitting the amount of dollars that were skimmed.
Your not very bright are you?
He meant: Why refuse to pay your taxes? You already have millions. (The answer is greed.)
2004...........The year Harrahs RUINED Binion's forever.................
In new rome there walked 3 kings a judas, a brutus, and a spy. So if you are wondering who the spy was I can now tell you it was I.
