Amy, the outside of the homestead, the stone, the deck, and patio looks great! Doug, your insight on families, starting out tight, but as time gets away, we all spread out and lose contact. It happens to everyone, wishing the Larson Farms family a bountiful year!

I agree when I was young, 67 now, the families got together every year but in the last 25 years no one gets together anymore different generations don't feel the need I guess so sad.
Anyway love you folks I enjoy all your channels so entertaining and educational with the all new technologies in farming so interesting, Doug I have the same issues at my home things just don't get done in a timely manner don't feel alone!

Doug’s right, if they’re feeding on juniper/cedar foliage-you got a tough winter. Fire, what Doug loves so much, keeps them suppressed, and the prairies can compete.

I wish I could have neighbors like Doug and Amy . Yes , It’s easy to see why Chet is so confident and so sure of himself . I seem to remember a family get together when I was young but I think it was only that one time. Everyone seems to move away , a long way away.

Great video as always! If the state and federal wildlife agencies were smart they would pay farmers to plant food for the animals. A few hundred acres of corn left in the fields would go a long way. But that makes sense so it probably won't happen. Where I used to live in Louisiana the wealthy people fed the deer in their deer lease with corn dropped from a special made crop duster. All the deer left our area and moved to theirs. Surely the state agencies could do something similar.

I really like these video's of the two of you, and what doug was saying by you know, is probably hoping nothing to personal or embarrassing comes out lol. To have a grandmother left is a gift, and i would be asking her everything i could about her life growing up, and how thing's were done. At 52, my parent's, grandparents, and the uncle from my maternal side has passed on, and my fraternal aunt has passed away as well. I have a cousin i haven't seen in year's, because he got lured in to scientology which i hate. Family is such a blessing, and when they are gone, the world just seems so much smaller. I am thankful that my mom did a series of interviews with my grandma before she passed away, and it talks a lot about her life as a child. My mom passing in 2016 was so crazy, but she died in 4 day's from the diagnosis at the er of cancer. She said there was never any pain, but her liver was full of lesions spread from somewhere else, so we don't even know what kind it was. One day i will tell you how it ended, and the thing's the Lord blessed me with. G-D bless.

If there are stones in the mix it’s concrete. Cement is the fine grey dust like material that holds the sand, rock mix together. Once to water is added there is a chemical reaction that only goes one way. The pile looks like mortar, sand cement mix used the lay bricks or stones.

I worked for a concrete company and made the mistake of calling it cement. I was educated that cement is the powder ingredient of the concrete that binds the mixture together, so concrete is the final product that comes out of the mixer, and cement is an ingredient. Not that it really matters, but you asked. Lol

What if you trim off the low branches, the ones the deer can reach? then you have wind break, and shade. Plus you can walk under the trees then, like a park or mature forest. Just an idea. Yes landscaping is a never end job. We have cut down trees, planted a different type, 20 years later, removed those too. Things change, I hope you can get it the way you want it. Until you decide you need a change! lol

Cayenne pepper sprinkled on the hostas will stop the deer. Also hanging strips of aluminum foil like 2-3 inches wide and 2 ft long in bunches of 5 or 6 that will blow and catch the light will scare them away. I put mine up and left them for a month. Deer decide to find another route to travel . Nature is so much fun- isnt it? Lol

Glad you hosted a family reunion at your place. How wonderful. Seems now days we do not do enough of that. When I was young we did like Doug said you had a get together for almost anything. Like you both said the family gets so spread out and makes it hard to get together.
My compliments to you both for doing this. Is important for the family to get together every so often.
Now trees. Yes, deer are very destructive to trees and plants. They are destroy trees just like the ones you showed us. Terrible. With the hard winter they are looking for food. Almost no way to stop them.
Really enjoyed Doug and Amy talking and showing us around. I have great respect for you both and the way you work with your family and the way you Farm. Thanks again for having the family reunion. That is really important to get together b
