    A bikepacking overnight in the depths of Glen Feshie, one of the most beautiful glens in the country and certainly the most fascinating
    I'm based in the Scottish Highlands and I use a VW campervan to access the great outdoors, where I climb hills, ride my e-bike or gravel bike and just visit some of those places I've never been to. I've been climbing hills and mountains all over the world for 50 years and I'm a former editor of Climber Magazine and The Great Outdoors Magazine.

    Lots of parallels Cameron - diet changes, backpacking, now more bikepacking since older, GR20 (2008), even Glen Feshie recently in April ( 4 nights backpacking ), cycling with no rucksack - all gear on the bike.
    Designed & built my own compact bikepacking tent, which is held up by the bike.
    Have enjoyed your books and programs over many years. Nice to see you looking healthy, probably the change in diet. Responsible wild camping is so good for the soul, and getting to see and stay in the best places in Scotland. There's plenty of prime bikepacking trips in Scotland, look forward to future videos. Thanks.
    All the best

    Cameron I’ve been following your career through your various publications since the 80’S and as a one time avid reader of TGO. I really enjoy your natural presenting style and feel a kinship when I listen to speak about being outside. You get to the kernel of what it means to you, especially in this lovely little video. Thank you and happy bikepacking!

    Hi Cameron, oh that looks like sheer luxury, just you, and your loaded bike. The only bike packing I've done was years ago when I was a teenager, I think I was still at school in fact. My pal Davie Smith and me had old second hand bikes, mine was £4 from the Glasgow barras, everything was carried on our backs in old ex army back packs, although we called them rucksacks. We cycled from parkhead to Loch Lomond, when we tried to put the tent up in the lay by just past Duck bay marina we were told there was no camping there. So we just spent the night on the wee bit of beach there. Our healthy meal was square sausage fried in butter on a wee paraffin fueled primus stove. I still like my bike though, good to see you getting out on yours, looking forward to the next video.

    As always Cameron, your words are inspirational. Your editorial role at TGO made that publication a kind of bible to me, and you actually published a few words of mine. Yes, as you say, get out and enjoy the outdoors. I'm actually on the cusp of a two-month thruhike in the Alps, sitting here typing this but not in the best state physically or emotionally, but I know, as you know, that a few days into my hike I will experience the blessings and healing that nature gives us.

      What a lovely reply. Thank you. Yes, indeed as you say Cameron, let the outdoors wash & refresh us.
      On a thruhike of the Pyrenees several years ago, I got stuck in a rut health wise & mentally, with doubts as to if I could continue. I phoned home, and my dear late mum said to me "Can you see the hills?", I said yes, and she said "You're there, and now is your opportunity. Do it."
      I did, fell in love with a French woman and had the best time. I also made it to the Mediterranean Sea and paddled a bit.

    Thanks for taking us along with you to this beautiful glen. I’m also trying to lose a few pounds and that pasta, onion and herb meal is making me very 😋 hungry! I have the newer version of your MSR tent, bit lighter, more mesh, probably not quite as robust as yours but fine for my kind of camping. I love the outdoors, I’m a female in my 60s and a walk or gentle bike ride with my little brew kit and watercolour set is just heaven. We are so lucky to live in the British Isles with such a variety of landscapes.

    That was not filmed recently in this shocking summer we have been having certainly in the west of Scotland. That is a Glen I am really keen to explore on my bike but my days of solo camping are over for me as I would starve as pouring boiling water with my hand tremor would either end up with a scalding or repeated attempts until the water source ran dry. At least my range in and out on the eMTB would allow me to see a good bit of the scenery. Where is the best place to park up and gain entry in your opinion.

    • @CameronMcNeishOutdoors
      @CameronMcNeishOutdoors  24 дні тому +1

      No, it's a non-electric gravel bike. I still use my e-bike for not for bikepacking. Essentially the distances I want to cover when bikepacking are greater than those allowed by the battery on my e-bike, which is about 40 miles max. I occasionally go off for two nights or more bikepacking so unless I have a way of charging the battery I'm restricted to non-electric.
