I do like to hear about why a weapon isn't measuring up against others, because it helps give perspective about why certain options are as strong as they are. It's still important to know about competition even though you're on top, and I respect your knowledge and experience when it comes to this game regarding what is best to use. I hope that you make more of these types of videos in the future to highlight weapons that didn't meet your expectations and why that's the case.
I would highly suggest anyone defending this gun in pvp to look at the situation objectively. Cammy gave very clear points on the shortcomings of this weapon. Yes, it can feel good for some users, but the ttk/damage numbers don’t lie and it doesn’t have a place in the upper echelons of todays meta.
Maybe not this weapon, but this archetype of pulse rifle is extremely good. The syncopation 53 is a really good example. You can roll moving target and headseeker. With arrowehead break and ricochet rounds and range masterwork, thats 61 range. I hit three bursts at 50 meters with it. No time cant two burst from there, and doesnt have the zoom or aim assist, as well as recoil pattern to hit consistently. It will also three burst from that range, but Syncopation will do it faster and has more aim assist. If you havnt tried the syncopation, definitely give it a shot. Its really really good. Arguably one of the best pulse rifles in the game, and i think the best 390 pulse.
@@legolokicars5820 agreed 100%. Aggressives and high impacts have the POTENTIAL to two burst. For most players, they will often be a three burst. If you miss one single bullet, an adaptive or lightweight will beat you every single time. For that reason, Synchopation is my most used weapon and has been since the witch queen dropped.
@@a.bishop615 exactly the same for me. My playstyle is focused more around forgiveness rather than lethality, which is exactly what 390s do best. Its also why i still like aggressive frame shotguns over precisions, because with precisions even being a little bit off center will make you miss half the pellets, unlike aggressive with the wider spread.
@@legolokicars5820 I prefer lightweight shotguns for that reason. Easy follow up shots for when they don’t one shot. I use hip fire grip/headseeker on my synchopation and threat/elemental on my without remorse so there’s no range where my load out is ineffective.
I think Collective Obligation is actually quite strong on a Gyrfalcon build because the Volatile rounds can create a two burst kill or a team shot scenario, plus it chains into having on demand volatile rounds. But overall, I'd agree that adaptives are just not very good without damage perks and/or significant origin traits.
that last clip was bonkers, you got the focused fury and the flinch you received was still bad enough to ruin 2 2-bursts that you basically handled perfectly
I stay away from perks like this in crucible for the reason you mentioned. when I get conditional perks like focused fury, kill clip, tunnel vision, etc I often do not get to use it. So i prefer perks that are always active like moving target, perpetual, or that help me in other ways like demo and such.
Same here. They nerfed kill clip so that’s another reason why I don’t focus my energy into rolls with it as often I want things that I can actually get plenty of use out of
I honestly prefer other pulse rifles compared to Smite due to stats and perks. (for example Chattering Bone for Kinetic and Forge's Pledge for Energy) But I can't deny that Smite will forever be a classic pulse for many veterans myself included due to its looks, sounds and charm.
Your comments are always balanced and I appreciate you sharing them. Videos explaining why you wouldn't recommend something is as much of a help as why you would.
You should try Last Perdition with kill clip if you haven't already. Excellent range with the right sight (more than most high impacts), and much easier to two burst with then trying to proc focused fury or swash.
Yeah it’s definitely not bad at all but I always prefer syncopat because u can craft it for 100 recoil and the way u like it and when I use last perdition sure it has scopes but recoil seems to never be as good as the craftable pulse
All of my adaptive pulses live in PvE.I crafted my Smite with Demo/Firefly for easy grenade energy. The only one I use in PvP is BxR, even with the zoom nerf, the way it plays just feels like a little extra sauce compared to other adaptives, and I crafted the Perpetual/Eye of The Storm roll for high stability and great consistency.
Funny you mention Legal Action II. People say it sucks but I love my 5/5 God roll with arrowhead, acc rounds, Surplus Rampage Stab mw. It's a laser beam and surplus makes up for high impacts' shortcomings and rampage makes double and triple kills easier
@@jesseritchie9282 I like to call it "the most off meta meta weapon" and pair it with Matador, Thunderlord, and Nova Bomb for some D1 thowback vibes. I sure do miss my Hawksaw.
I kinda feel like a problem with adaptive pulse rifles is a similar issue with how aggressive hand cannons used to be, their RPM simply cannot compete for the damage they do. Maybe upping the RPM will make Adaptives better? But then it might make them too strong, so I don't really know what they could do that isn't involving gutting aggressive pulse rifles.
My only two cents is that Adaptive Pulses really shine with High-Cal Rounds. Something about the cadence of the burst plus a little extra flinch makes them very oppressive to duel with.
I think another thing that doesnt get mentioned with lethality vs ease of use is Console vs PC. PC players essentially play with no recoil or screen shake with pulses. Controller aim assist helps with acquiring and snapping onto targets initially, but doesnt help with snapping on to heads, stopping the reticle from bouncing naturally, and staying on the targets head once you actually start fighting. Landing 2 bursts is significantly tougher on a controller without very high stability and even on PC, its still harder for most people watching this since they arent top 1% players
The problem with this archetype is only like 1 has high impact reserves which is the ONLY way to make this archetype good. Other than Frenzy, of course, but that one isn't as reliable.
Hey Cammy! Honestly when it comes to your videos I will ALWAYS watch them however anything about reviewing a weapon or talking about pvp sandbox specifically makes me watch them RIGHT away instead of just whenever that day. If you were curious about what some of us prefer.
I enjoy these videos. Commenting to help the algorithm and boost signal that these vids are appreciated. While I hear what you're saying, I really enjoy the third axiom and the last perdition. They just feel good when I'm not trying to play so hard in 6s or when I'm having an off day and just need to help my confidence.
You could rock Radiant Dodge with Benevolence. Making a teammate Radiant gives you a 200% increase on all your cooldowns. If you Scorch a target, not kill them, then you can get a 300% dodge cooldown regeneration increase with Singeing. It should be a 600% cooldown when combined. That way you can still use Geminis. To be fair, it might not be worth it but it can be done.
So I have a moving target eye of the storm mix that works pretty good. Chambered compensator and accurized rounds, but yeah 2 tapping doesn't really happen.
This is a general problem, many weapon archetypes are completely obscured by other archetypes/exotics. These weapons aren't worth the effort of trying to make it work. Like 150 rpm HC and any scout vs DMT (for me of course) except hung jury.
I use 390s in the first weekend of trials of a new season as if i got lucky with my pinnacles, a lot of my opponents will be just in the threshold for a 2-burst as not everyone sweats every pinnacle in the game just to have a point or 2 higher power in trials.

I'd personally take moving target, then domolitionist over focused fury. I like focused fury on low mag weapons like linear fusion (cataclysmic), but moving target would be better in 1v1 for me at least. You're probably strafing so it's almost always up and the aim assist + movement helps win duals.

not sure if youve done a video about this but you can also snap skate on stasis and it sends you way further than snap skating
some dude literally bodied me with that tech it was unbelievable
This gun even as a PVE gun just doesn’t feel like anything unique aside from the aesthetic. It gets outclassed soo easily
Please post more of these type of reviews
We're living in pvp meta hell because of smgs and sidearm thanks bungo
That’s on you. I LOVE THIS GUN. Got it on me rn with enhanced perks and everything. I use it for PvE.
yeah whatever man, i love it because it looks like an alligator
I know it wasn’t a super big part of the video, but for controller players like me, syncopation with enhanced zen moment, I’d also worth it kinda piggybacking off of the zen moment discussion from yesterdays vid.
Hey Cammy or someone else that can answer me, Why do you want threat detector incandescent on your benders?
You are not wrong ablut frenzy being around the % buff as focused fury it recently got nerfed so now FF does more % in damage compare to frenzy
THIS IS SICK I WAS IN THIS VIDEO, GOT DOOKIED ON BUT I AM HAPPY. Sad you didn’t post the other games :)
Third axiom + head seeker is the play
I wanted to like this gun....but just disparity....literally rapid headstone simple, universal and 4 bullets
Sure a shame all the Kings fall weppons fell short, really should have been better frames
the third axiom with head seeker is best feeling pulse rifle.
Cammy got no cake tbh
I have this exact roll except adrenaline junkie
i absolutely love this gun, it’s my go to pvp pulse for this current meta and it looks like a kagune. i wouldn’t recommend focused fury though.
Personality I don't like No time on controller at all...390s are much more forgiving. I almost never get a two burst kill with no time so I'm better off without it
That first clip was saucy as shit
