A quick tip: dream nailing enemies gives you soul, which is especially useful when you stagger a boss. Dream nailing the staggered boss won't wake them up, so you can stack up on soul. AND USE YOUR GODDAMN SPELLS MORE ISTG YOUR LIFE WILL BE SO MUCH EASIER
nice job beating grimm second try! thats quite impressive. also you have good taste he's my favorite boss too (just wait until you fight him again!) please dont wait to fight hornet in the kingdoms edge it does not lock you out of any endings! i recommend fighting her and then doing deepnest. also, dont be afraid to sell your relics! they dont do anything besides give you money and you're actually missing out on lore by hoarding them! loving this series and the long-form video was awesome :)
The Grimm flame next to the 3rd dreamer is different. This one gives you the option to banish Grimm, do not do this, it will permanently remove Grimm from your game and you won’t be able to fight him a second time. Love this series, you’re doing amazing!!
Just in case: if you do banish the Grimm Troupe, you will get a unique item instead that can only be obtained this way. So you have two options (it’s much better to fight Grimm a second time the first time you play)
Well, technically, it's pretty hard to get locked out of the first ending if youre not trying to 100% the game. Hornet fight doesn't really lock you out immediately out of the first ending, so you're good :D Also hi ! I've been a long time lurker of your Channel since you started your Hollow Knight series and I have to say that your content is really entertaining to watch !

Glad to be of service :D reliving my first time through hallownest through this series has been fun. Another tip: you have a bunch of relics which can be sold to the relic seeker for extra dialogue, and a butt-ton of geo. You can't use those relics for anything else (I thought so in my first play through and held onto them for a very long time)
Yeah I'm one of those people that also doesn't use consumables "just in case I ever need it later" and then never end up using them until the end of the game lmao. I will use them whenever I need a big amount of money for something else tho, like charms or another nail upgrade
STOP RIGHT THERE! YOU OVERTOOK ME! I CAN'T ALLOW THIS FROM YOU. WHEN I FIND MY SWITCH YOU BETTER HOPE I CAN'T DEFEAT THE WATCHERS OR GRIMM. seriously, its been amazing watching someone play at the exact same pace as me and I'm not letting that go just because i lost my switch. im gonna catch up and im gonna play along with you, we started this journey at the same time and we've kept up with eachother ever since
Congrats, you found the breakable wall in the coliseum. Unfortunately there were 2 and that one wasn't the important one, so keep looking! As for Tiso, he THOUGHT he was a great warrior and was very arrogant and dismissive towards you due to his pride over it. However, it turns out he wasn't so great after all, and as a result of his hubris he dies seeking battles he never needed to take. It's tragic, but also rather poetic. Personally I really enjoy the dream boss refights. You can think of it as reusing bosses, but it's more charitable to treat it as giving a good boss an upgrade. The base bosses are all pretty easy but have an interesting concept/moveset, so the dream version provides a more challenging and interesting version of the fight. So a common misconception I've noticed is that the boss's stagger is indicating a next phase. It's actually just based on the number of times you've hit it, not how much damage you've done, and is just meant to give you a break to heal if needed. Grimm does actually have a "phase change" of sorts: it's the pufferfish attack. Unless you hit him during his bow at the start, he uses the pufferfish every time you take out 25% of his hp. There aren't any changes to his attacks, so idk if you can call it a phase change though. Also don't worry TOO much about locking yourself out of the basic ending, yet. You are 2 bosses and a major platforming challenge away from even being able to get the event that locks you out of it.
Wait, he doesn't lose access to the standard ending if he fights hornet, he only does it if he gets the [REDACTED] before entering the temple. So Gin Ken, if you are reading this, please do fight hornet first! Doing so unlocks more cool dialogue with her later and wont actually lock you out of any endings!
no one said that fighting hornet locks him out of the standard ending, just that he can get locked out of it if he goes too far. and since he doesn't know how far exactly is too far he's worried about fighting her now. there's no difference between fighting hornet or the last boss first at this point
It is always nice to see new people play the Soul Tyrant where they get so confused and try to run away from him... And suddendly you see the evolution when people start running TOWARDS him and understand that the way of the fight is going aggresive and not being passive...
Most bosses stagger after hitting them a certain amount of times; staggers are only occasionally phase-based. Grimm only has one 'phase', but stavgers quite quickly and uses the pufferfish attack after every 25% of his health pool. Also, divine (the weird masked lady in the smaller tent of the Grimm Troupe) can upgrade all of the 'fragile' charms.
I would not recommend getting the flames yet, because you're either gonna be really disappointed or fight BY FAR the hardest boss yet (3rd or 2nd hardest in the game).
love this series bro! i started and finished the game because this series convinced me id love to see you try Another Crabs Treasure, it just came out the other day its basically dark souls but as a crab
4:44 "He his living peacefully somewhere on his farm or something" made me laugh out loud :D I hope he's alive to, GinKen. The file for the scene is called "quirrel_death" Take that how you will. I hope he shows up in Silksong :)
this series has been a lot of fun to watch! hollow knight is my favorite game and it's been great watching you have so much fun with it. I don't wanna repeat what a lot of the other comments have already mentioned, but I figured I'd mention some general "rules of thumb" for the harder parts of the game - in other words, the general lessons the game's difficulty curve is trying to teach you. you don't need to take any of this to heart but it could make some of the later challenges less frustrating and more engaging which I think are both good for the overall experience - you did this for grimm so props for that, but your charm build should reflect how you play. shaman stone *is* really good, but you aren't using spells so it's wasting space. there's a lot of synergy between charms so you want to build up your boosts in a way that compliments what you're trying to do - for boss fights especially dealing damage is more important than healing. this is also why people are telling you to use spells, they have upgrades and charm synergies and are your main source of real damage numbers in the early game before any of that (they are really good throughout the entire game). as fights get harder you have less and less time to heal and not enough notches to keep running quick focus in exchange for dragging the battle out/exposing yourself to more attacks - when you do heal, right now you're choosing a moment where you think it's safe to heal and hoping you don't get hit. this is what's gonna happen while you're still learning attacks but it's worth it to try and find specific spots in nearly all of the fights you have left because there are usually safe spots and gaps if you know what you're doing. for example, for grimm you would try to heal during the attack transition and have to deal with the chance that the attack pattern is a dive or just too fast and you get hit whether or not the heal goes off. the grounded spike attack is a great chance to heal as long as you're on the ground when it starts. there are little spikes that poke up first to tell you where they are and then you can walk over to a safe zone and immediately focus (this should wrap up as he's starting to transition to the next attack so you have time to react to what it's gonna be) - there are upgrades in this game for a couple of different things and I would really recommend searching them out before finishing up the grimm troupe dlc. as someone with your best interests in mind I implore you to go for the normal ending first, maybe get some extra stuff, and come back a little more prepared - as fights get harder, you want to engage and dodge more and more proactively. this means that when you see an attack and you know its trajectory and safe zone, you get out of the line of fire as soon as possible (not when it gets to you while you wait). this massively decreases the mental load you're trying to juggle by removing problems as soon as they appear and not letting anything stack up but that's it! have fun, please keep posting these and just in general having a good time. I also really liked the rainworld videos (unfortunately not much of a tekken person as of now) but I gotta say I'm looking forward to whatever it is you end up doing down the line
I have 63/63 achievements in this game (158 hours) but it's fun to watch someone play for the first time. Don't worry about not getting the first ending it would be extremely unlikely to skip the first ending. You have to collect 2 charms into 1 charm and then upgrade that charm to do it.
Hornet fight doesn’t lock you out of the ending. There’s a certain area that has extremely hard platforming, like really hard. Once you get there, don’t go further until your sure you want to continue.
now that you beat grim, you have two otion for the following of the dlc : the biggest differences between those options are the final form ot the charm "grim child" and a boss that you fight only if you do one of the option (i recommend the option with the bos fight because you're gonna love it) btw i love your videos
If you buy one of the fragile charms from Leg Eater (that dude in the Fungal Wastes, near the entrance to the Forgotten Crossroads) and give it to that lady with a smell fetish who is next to *my glorious king grimms* tent she can make it not break when you die
Nail arts are extrememly usefull in late game boss fights where you are not really given the chance to hit mutliple times: you hit once and go back to dodging. Then nail arts are extremelly useful for the bonus range and damage (250% of your nail).
32:03 I know it's been like 8 hours but TAKE OFF QUICK FOCUS IMMEDIATELY DON'T GET USED TO IT NEVER HEAL EVER NO HEALING UNLESS HE'S STAGGERED NEVER HEAL EVER PLEASE IT'S NOT TOO LATE JUST TAKE THAT CHARM OFF PLEASE
About the nail arts, you are not supposed to charge them while staring down a boss (this almost surely loses dps). You can use them when there is a moment where you can't hit the enemy, but you also can't/don't want to heal. Grimm's fight was a good example. Many of the spots you tried to heal at were not safe healing windows (as I'm sure you understood), but they would be great spots to charge a nail art while still being safe to dodge the next attack (you can move while charging it), specially considering you didn't pogo him very much. It is great in that fight, as Grimm usually only let's you hit him once or twice between attacks, but in the same amount of time you can unleash one very powerful hit.
Bro's charm build is killing me but the determination and perseverance are very admirable. I think he got Grimm much faster than i did. Can't wait to see farther in (:
YOOO HE MET BIG 3 GRIMM ‼️ Edit: Nail Arts are useful for bosses where you get downtime between boss attacks and only get a short period of time to attack, like the Grimm fight lets you charge up nail arts between his attacks
In order to get through the game you need to do the extra fights and you’ll also need to head towards the sewer. The very bottom of the map, and the bottom right. I’m not through the whole video but I figured I should post it so you have something to work with
Save your soul for spells while in combat. Most bosses don’t have many windows for healing anyway. Edit: Try to use a spell any moment you can. If a boss is far away, use Vengeful Spirit. If they’re above you, use Howling Wraiths. And use Descending Dark when they’re below you.
My advice for you is to use your crystal dash more (including in the graveyard! U missed the reward yet again). And try implementing spells into your fights more often, look how well it worked against soul tyrant when u finally got him! Also don't be scared of kingdoms edge, one of the best charms in the game is where u have already been in there, and there is a whole nother area u have yet to even begin knowing about!
Go fight the last boss! It’s gonna be a really easy fight for you, but take your time and watch him, the more powerful you get the less of an impactful experience it will be for you (it’s by no means any sort of actual ending to your experience)
tbh, you seem to have an issue with panic healing (trying to heal constantly instead of avoiding attacks). sometimes i do too, but panic healing is probably gonna screw you over in future fights. it can be hard to do in the moment, but as long as you remind yourself to be patient for healing windows you should be all good :D baldur shell might help to unlearn panic healing aswell but it taking two notches isn't super worth it you'd also definitely benefit from using spells more, especially after getting shade soul. descending dark is probably still your best spell bc of the s but shade soul is definitely helpful too! (i don't mean to seem pushy or judgy in this comment btw just trying to help ^^)
You should buy map markers and start pinning areas still locked out so you can come back later. Also try wearing fragile charms and talk to the grimm troupe lady next to the main tent to get special dialogues.
Yo, banger video. You should probably focus less on healing and more on attacking. Less time enemy is alive = less chances of dying. You also usually heal just to lose it immediately as you are standing still, so I would recommend you just keep dodging and playing a little more aggressively
You need to do a lot more after exploring that path in kingdom's edge to lock yourself off the first ending, so i would recommend exploring it and the area it unlocks after, only bc it gives you a really good ability
YOOO you beaten Grimm! Congrats on your lovely dance wirh him :D (next time you fight him again, he's faster and stronger so good luck!) Don't worry, you can upgrade your Howling Wraiths in the depths of Ancient Basin. But I believe you can't get it, along with Shade Dash, without going to where you saw Hornet run away to. Good luck on what is on your to-do list! (P.S. you'll figure out what happened and what killed Tiso when you do Pantheon because it shows something :') )
also go down to deepnest and the area where you get the spider dreamer. there is a guy in one of the other houses that you can talk to for a free flame and a charm without doing the harder version of grimm. Of course, this is your decision as you dont have to abolish the troupe and just get the free flame. Lastly, you can get a secret feature by giving all the fragile charms to divine in exchange for unbreakable ones for a lot of geo
I'm pretty sure fighting silksong is actually required for the first ending, fighting her alone just sets progresses you quite a bit and allows you to go for any of the endings
What I've noticed is that you panic jump way too much, which leads quite often to you getting hit. This was very visible during Grimm's fight. I think it's way safer to just dash away from the enemy (maybe even with a jump if it's needed) most of the times, rather than only jumping
You should use all the pin markers from the map shop. The ones that look like beetle shells to help mark the things you need to do. Made my life easier especially for the taggin all yhe dream fights.
A little teaser/fun fact for you: You haven't fought any of the 3 most fun bosses yet (imo anyway. Some people put Mantis Lords over SoB for some reason). Or any of the 3 overall best either (again imo, some might consider Mantis Lords to be one of the best on purely gameplay grounds, but I tend to prefer the more major/lore-relevant bosses).
Boss phases (when a boss does something new) and boss staggers (when a boss stops attacking for a moment) are not related. Not every boss in Hollow Knight has multiple phases, but for those that do, it is related to the amount of health they have. Staggers, on the other hand, are based on how many times you have hit them. Hope this is helpful
"The Best Boss in Hollow Knight²" means The Best Boss in Hollow Knight * The Best Boss in Hollow Knight, which imples that when you multiply the mantis lords by the mantis lords, they become grimm
dont go for the flame next to the dreamer, collect the other 3 and go back to the Grimm please. also, he is my favorite boss in the entire game and HOW COULD YOU HIT HIM DURING HIS BOW THAT'S JUST DISRESPECTFUL MAN
I really dislike seeing people playing this game get hit twice and go to "i have to heal" mode. There is no such thing as health in hollow knight. Each mask slot is a mistake you are allowed to make. The biggest mistake is going into panic mode. Its hard to adjust to but if you can learn the dance of each boss this game goes from 10/10 to 100/10.

Grimm's fight was a good example. Also don't be scared of kingdoms edge, one of the best charms in the game is where u have already been in there, and there is a whole nother area u have yet to even begin knowing about!
Go fight the last boss! It’s gonna be a really easy fight for you, but take your time and watch him, the more powerful you get the less of an impactful experience it will be for you (it’s by no means any sort of actual ending to your experience)
tbh, you seem to have an issue with panic healing (trying to heal constantly instead of avoiding attacks). sometimes i do too, but panic healing is probably gonna screw you over in future fights. it can be hard to do in the moment, but as long as you remind yourself to be patient for healing windows you should be all good :D baldur shell might help to unlearn panic healing aswell but it taking two notches isn't super worth it
you'd also definitely benefit from using spells more, especially after getting shade soul. descending dark is probably still your best spell bc of the s but shade soul is definitely helpful too!
(i don't mean to seem pushy or judgy in this comment btw just trying to help ^^)
I like the ac soundtrack in the background. also great video as always
You still have all 3 of my favorite boss fights ahead of you
You should buy map markers and start pinning areas still locked out so you can come back later.
Congrats on your lovely dance wirh him :D (next time you fight him again, he's faster and stronger so good luck!)
Don't worry, you can upgrade your Howling Wraiths in the depths of Ancient Basin. But I believe you can't get it, along with Shade Dash, without going to where you saw Hornet run away to. Good luck on what is on your to-do list!
(P.S. you'll figure out what happened and what killed Tiso when you do Pantheon because it shows something :') )
grimm my husbando.
also damn 42 minutes of goodness
Epic quote (Don't get hit, that's how i heal)
Try to go to the right side of the Colosseum up from the hot spring there is a breakable wall there :)
THE KEN GIN IS BACKKKK
Hollow Knight²? Silksong Early Access Confirmed, coming summer 2025
There's a second breakable wall in the colosseum btw
NEW UPLOAD YIPEEEE
1. do hornet 2 and get the thing after it
2. explore the abyss more, you'll find something neat down there 😉
also go down to deepnest and the area where you get the spider dreamer. there is a guy in one of the other houses that you can talk to for a free flame and a charm without doing the harder version of grimm. Of course, this is your decision as you dont have to abolish the troupe and just get the free flame. Lastly, you can get a secret feature by giving all the fragile charms to divine in exchange for unbreakable ones for a lot of geo
This is Hollow Knight with the meta build.
I'm pretty sure fighting silksong is actually required for the first ending, fighting her alone just sets progresses you quite a bit and allows you to go for any of the endings
In K.Edge it is not required for the basic ending, but it might help
Screaming at my screen cuz of no spells being used for soul tyrant until the end
there is another wall u can break in colosseum
What I've noticed is that you panic jump way too much, which leads quite often to you getting hit. This was very visible during Grimm's fight. I think it's way safer to just dash away from the enemy (maybe even with a jump if it's needed) most of the times, rather than only jumping
also also also, cyclone s;ash, spam attack while using it, it hits really fast, and can make you glide
Bro you're so underrated I love you Fr ❤
boys wake up, Ginken uploaded🗣
fr tho how come you have so little views with such good editing
Quick Focus is a must for late game bosses.
oh you liked the grimm fight? just wait for
You really need to use spells more often. The fight against the Grimmkin in the Kingdom’s Edge would’ve been a lot smoother if you did.
i would suggest to fight hornet it allows you to get a new skill in the ancient basin
Grimm is indeed a good fight
don't go for the deepnest flame, it gives the option to skip the final boss of the grimm troupe
underrated🔥
Please continue making hollow knight videos 😢
You should use all the pin markers from the map shop. The ones that look like beetle shells to help mark the things you need to do. Made my life easier especially for the taggin all yhe dream fights.
A little teaser/fun fact for you: You haven't fought any of the 3 most fun bosses yet (imo anyway. Some people put Mantis Lords over SoB for some reason). Or any of the 3 overall best either (again imo, some might consider Mantis Lords to be one of the best on purely gameplay grounds, but I tend to prefer the more major/lore-relevant bosses).
You can upgrade up spell in abyss
you should use your magic more its the best way to deal damage, and it is long range, it only has advantages !
Quirrel 😭
Boss phases (when a boss does something new) and boss staggers (when a boss stops attacking for a moment) are not related. Not every boss in Hollow Knight has multiple phases, but for those that do, it is related to the amount of health they have. Staggers, on the other hand, are based on how many times you have hit them. Hope this is helpful
My guy... SPELLS! They do so much more damage than your nail.
where are you from btw? (considering the language of the achievement), also awesome video
I'm from Slovenia. Also, thanks man
"The Best Boss in Hollow Knight²" means The Best Boss in Hollow Knight * The Best Boss in Hollow Knight, which imples that when you multiply the mantis lords by the mantis lords, they become grimm
2:18 :c
24:34 HOW DARE YOU NOT BOW BACK TO HIM !!!!!!!!
I don’t like you anymore 😔 (jk)
insta click (love your playthrough so much)
dont go for the flame next to the dreamer, collect the other 3 and go back to the Grimm please. also, he is my favorite boss in the entire game and HOW COULD YOU HIT HIM DURING HIS BOW THAT'S JUST DISRESPECTFUL MAN
Will you stream this game? Because it would be really cool to see you fight bosses and stuff in real time
Depends. I would need to start streaming in general first lol. But I can imagine doing it for some of the endgame stuff yeah, so it's possible
@@GinKendoulike pantheons?
@@solitudelover-se9cn he probably doesn't even know about pantheons
@@solitudelover-se9cn if that is the boss rush something mode (I don't know a lot about it) then yeah
I really dislike seeing people playing this game get hit twice and go to "i have to heal" mode. There is no such thing as health in hollow knight. Each mask slot is a mistake you are allowed to make. The biggest mistake is going into panic mode. Its hard to adjust to but if you can learn the dance of each boss this game goes from 10/10 to 100/10.
also also, how dare you not bow to grimm, dishonorable
16:32 u forgot the soul attacks didn’t you?
u rembered :D 18:37
nah wait till jfk
how dare uu 24:35
Broo plz new video.
also, seer is a lady
