One of the best radios I have owned. It was a good choice when I was upgrading from my old Icom IC-735, no comparison performance wise and I really liked the 735 it was a great radio in its day and still held its own.
@@wushock92 it really is a good choice. my 735 still works but does not transmit on anything other than CW. I am pretty sure I know the problem but it was really time to upgrade to a modern transceiver. My 735 did not have a built in antenna tuner which is something that is really handy. I do have a Kenwood manual tuner with power/SWR meters that I can use if the internal tuner can not match. The 7300 will handle up to 3:1, which works well with my limited antenna farm.
Pascal, thanks so much for this excellent video! It's a wonderful radio, and this is the best review I've seen of it. I also appreciate the high-res of the video, as it makes it much easier to see what's happening as you tap items on the touch screen. My only complaint is that now you've made me want this radio! :-) 73 de k1rsk
I have been considering a new HF radio and I must agree with the comment below that this was a thorough review. I felt kind of breathless at the end as Pascal zoomed through the features of the radio. I think I will have to see this video a few more times before I feel caught up with him. Very good. Thank you Pascal.
Hi Denis, I studied the radio awhile and practise a few times, I know it's fast but it's complete. So you will have to do like me, repeat a few time, hihi. 73 Pascal VA2PV
Merci beaucoups, Pascal! Not only was this the best description of the 7300's features that I've seen so far, but your accent had me feeling very nostalgic, too! As a boy, I spent many Summers chez ma tante et mon oncle a Ste. Hyacinthe! This was before it turned into a 'big city.' Sadly, my French has suffered since I have nobody to speak with anymore, but I still try...and it still brings a smile to my face. I just passed my (US) General exam, and hope to be picking up a 7300 very soon. 73 de KC1MGW
Hi Norm, each of my videos have an English and a French version, if you want to practise. When you are equipped for HF, try 3.780 MHz for the Qubec French net (19h00 every night, local time). BTW I live 25 minutes from Ste-Hyacinthe. 73 Pascal VA2PV
A really great review, fast paced and pretty much everything covered. I don’t often subscribe to channels but yours really seems a gem, thank you. Subscribed!
As expecting my own to arrive, after been away from the hobby for quite some years, this video is really appreciated with such an awesome info. BIG thank you Pascal.
Check out this video, this unit has been my main power supply in the shack for almost 3 years, I really like it, almost no noise, works great and inexpensive. 73 Pascal VA2PV ua-cam.com/video/H-eMVmwRKfs/v-deo.html

I live in a suburban area with a lot of noise and this radio performed as well as the others. Plus the noise blanker works great. I have not found this to be true of my 7300, I do have a lot of man made noise in my area. I live along 120 KV power lines and I have found my 7300 to do a better job managing the noise caused by them vs my older radios. I have seen the radio complain of over loading from strong signals if you have the pre-amps turned mostly on 80/40, I do not find you need them enabled on those bands.
Turn off preamps. and learn what the RF gain control is for. I run two of the 7300's and a 7610, each on a seperate band. I often run them all at once.. If the 7300 chokes on high rf environments, what is a higher environment than multiple transmitters and receivers working at the same time with all antennas in a 100 foot circle? Think about that. Remember it’s a SDR, you don’t keep the RF gain all the way up. Think SDR.
