- In 1989 the entire Jackson family (excluding La Toya, Marlon, Michael and Janet) appeared on the Donahue Show to promote the film "The Jacksons and American Dream" and Randys album "Randy Jackson and the Gypsys". They also talk about life growing up in the Jackson family.
Family members present include Joseph, Katherine, Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Randy. The second generation of Jacksons is also shown (most notably 3T whose members were between 11 and 16 at the time). - Розваги
i think michael & randy act alike because when they were younger they talked a lot & were more inviting but when they got older they started to act shy which i find adorable i love randy in this interview!!!
This was 1989. The miniseries was still in its development phases and wasn't actually filmed for a couple more years. I think it's actually better that Michael and Janet weren't there because it would have been a distraction. Janet was launching her Rhythm Nation Tour and Michael was just finishing up his Bad Tour. There would so much focus on the two of them that we wouldn't learn much about the rest of the family.
You misinterpreted what he said. They would've been a distraction but not because it was their fault. It's because they were both EXTREMELY popular at the time, Michael obviously being Michael and Janet having just released her most successful album. What I mean by this is that they wouldn't try to stand out, but 90% of the questions would be directed at them and not at the rest of the family. I don't say it would be Phil Donahue doing this because he had the opportunity to ask more questions about Michael and Janet and yet chose not to and respectfully included most of the family but the audience asking the questions would've surely been star struck and only focusing on those two. It's always been like that.

And Janet would get a lot of hype as well. It sucks because I'd love to see them all together and even see what Mike thought of Randy's album and etc. But alas..

He was busy being “the most successful artist of the 80s” and being “King of Pop”.Actually the real reason was schedule conflict and with Michael having all the fame, he wouldn’t show up to a interview with his family.Janet wasn’t there also because of schedule conflict due to promoting her Rhythm Nation 1814 album.
