Very nicely presented Jerry. I like the speculation near the end about who might be sleeping near Bonnie's grave which adds a touch of poetry to the old legend of the doomed outlaw lovers. Long may they run.

    Hi Jerry,
The tombstones of Clyde and Buck are not the originals. Their stones were very old and broken and closer to the back. The cemetery used to be in horrible shape and was basically in ruins. I lived in the area 20 years and visited their graves many times. I also met Clyde's sister Marie. She was a great person. Lived her senior years trying to raise money to have Bonnie and Clyde buried side by side.

I met Marie Scoma, Clyde's sister, at the Bonnie and Clyde Trade Days near the ambush site, when she was selling swatches of the pants he was wearing when he was killed. She had the pants cut into over 800 one-inch squares, which she was selling for $200.00 each. You can still find them on the internet for sale at about the same price. Mine is framed with photos of Clyde, both alive and in the morgue. B&C had a strong presence in Shreveport, my home town. The ambush site is about 40 miles from there. Both of my grandparents had encounters, before they met and married each other. My grandmother, who was born in 1918, was in a beauty shop on Hwy 80 in Bossier City, (across the Red River from Shreveport) when Bonnie came in for a 'do'. This was in 1934. (I also have a picture of this grandmother with Carlos Marcello, who she briefly dated in Dallas before he was gangster) My grandfather's encounter with B&C was in the morgue, when he went over from Shreveport, after the news of the shooting spread across the state. He said it was super-crowded, but he was able to get in to see them or saw them outside. Not sure which. There are a lot of B&C stories in this area. I know a gal whose great aunt claims to have one of Bonnie's shoes, collected from the ambush site, which she still lives close to. My friend said it 'fell' into the road, but I told my friend that her aunt more than likely ripped it off of the body, if she has it. People were even trying to cut off Clyde's fingers as souvenirs. I have a friend who grew up next door to a house on Unadilla St. in Shreveport, from which Clyde stole a car before he met Bonnie. My own stories are that I sat in the driver's seat of the death car at the Louisiana State Fair when I was about 9 or 10. (c. 1971 or 72) I really didn't know the story then, so it was just some old shot-up car to me) The exhibit was pretty empty at the time, so we got to look under the hood and in the trunk too. Also, for a couple of years in the early 80's, I was a runner at a downtown law firm, while I was in college. I ate almost daily at a cafe behind the law firm. It was called Theo's at the time. I sat there for 30 minutes every day. It wasnt until 10 years later, I found out it had formerly been The Majestic Cafe, of Bonnie and Clyde fame. By then, it had been closed down and locked up.

They wasn't walking on Clyde's stone. There's a clear shot of a kid standing on top of someone's stone across the way. And rather then say anything to him whoever's filming this just keeps right on concentrating on Clyde's stone.

I did read the post. This is a comment. And it's a comment about ppl walking/standing on someone's headstone. And so far all replying to this comment are saying show some respect. Then you come along & reply to kragseven basically that Clyde don't deserve respect. To which I reply it's not Clyde's grave they're standing on. It's a total strangers who does deserve respect.
Reading's one of the things I do best. I believe you need to read - the help files to learn how to start your own comment rather then reply to someone else's w/ stuff that don't apply to what they're discussing - which is called going off topic.

    • @Dawnswebdesigns

I took my kid to a TX cemetery to practice driving around the little roads. It seemed like someone was laying on top of a grave. And every time we came around this corner she was still there - not moving. About the time I was going to call 911 someone else already did. And once emergency personnel showed up we avoided the area so we wouldn't be in their way. Now I'll never know if she simply fainted or something or actually dropped dead.

Thank you for sharing, Mr. Skinner. I have been fascinated by the story of Bonnie and Clyde ever since hearing the, "Legend of Bonnie and Clyde" sung by Glen Campbell. I was a small child and intrigued by the thought of a woman being a gangster. I grew up in Arizona and ironically now live in Texas about 30 miles from Huntsville. I am currently reading the book, "Go Down Together" by Jeff Guinn. It is considered one of the most, historically accurate books ever written about Bonnie and Clyde. I enjoy the Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty movie. However, typical to many Hollywood pieces, the film is more fictional than factual. But, it's great entertainment! The recent A&E miniseries was also far from being the truth. Among many distortions was the fabrication that Clyde present at Bonnie's wedding. They didn't meet until four years later.

Thank you again Jerry. Myself and all those who posted before me, and any others who post after me, have no right to call Bonnie and Clyde any names at all. We neither of us, did not know them, did not know of their circumstances or what serious attitudes or punishment, or bad treatment from others in their younger lives, made them turn out to be who they were. Just look at the stories about Bonnie, she was a killer ? she was a sexual deviant ? she was the ringleader ? Now just a minute, a 90lb cripple doesnt seem to promote any sexual fantasies to me. Then again was she a cripple really? What did she weigh? Does any of it make any difference. They were born, they suffered, they caused others to suffer, and people of the same mentality murdered them in cold blood too. We are all pretty much made up of the same sort of stuff, it is being human eh ? Did anyone go and shoot down those murderers? I guess not they, after all, hid behind the badge of the law..... the shitless wonders. RIP ~ Bonnie and Clyde.

Thank you, I recently viewed the story of Bonnie and Clyde and learned how they started out in life, became corrupt and then finally executed. Thank you for this tour of their graves in Dallas and for the nice commentary, as I did not know they were only 23 and 25! Wow so young, but apparently his imprisonment and the abuse that he encountered back in those days of detention, caused him to be so persevering in not wanting to return to that environment, but too bad he did not change his ways. Again, thank you for this video.

A couple of wild kids who wanted something extra out of a hard life. Well they certainly paid for their brief wild fling.
Can't help but find the last picture of them together a bit moving. Amazing that so many turned up at their funerals.
Great video though. Just watched your Susan Hayward video.Equally fascinating.

I figured Cumie was a southern nickname? I have heard some good ones and being from the south of course have my own special name I would never share! But once I thought about the time period Cumie was born, her name kinda makes sense if you live around those types of names? My mom, Frankie? Don't ask! Even being Barrow the video is very important and we do appreciate you bringing the history to us! I will continue to watch they are presented well!

The man sleeping could be Clyde, if Clyde shops at Target by the looks of that man's bag.

I've seen several clips and read so much about them. Living here in Dallas, the locals always say that their parents told them about it the tale. One clip from "Remembering Bonnie and Clyde" interviewed the two black witnesses. both witnesses said 2 shots.........i saw another video and the son of one of the cops shooting said that his dad had said that he opened the door hoping Bonnie was still alive and Bonnie fell out and she was still breathing but by the time he put her back in the car she was dead...... did they then shoot up the car? why shoot up the car later? why shoot all those rounds if the first shot killed Clyde by shooting him in the temple? i also read that the first shot went through Clyde's head and hit Bonnie and she screamed like a cougar....so why was all the other shots necessary? I don't think Bonnie ever did anything and she was killed by accident. they probably hated Clyde because everyone in the neighborhood said he was different. And how were they a couple and she still had her wedding ring on? i think there's more to this story. And Bonnie's sister Jean says Bonnie would put Clyde in drag so that he could go into town to his dad's gas station to throw a coke bottle with a message on where and when to meet up. Bonnie wanted to be famous but Clyde wanted to expose that prison for the hell it was after he was raped and beaten for two years straight. Imagine being 5'3" and a pretty boy in jail. His sister Marie said when he got out of prison, he had changed and was just mean and didn't care anymore....ya think?

Clyde stopped and got a Bolony Samwich for him and a BLT for Bonnie just before getting wasted. She still had her samwich when she got gunned down.

Back in the early 1930's my great grandpa, who's name was Sam, owned a farm in a small town just about 80 miles outside of then "Cement City" near Dallas, Texas.
He was a farmer by day and a gambler by night. He ran a gambling house out in his barn on the weekends and some week nights depending on who showed up. The farm was in a very rural area -- down a lot of oil-topped roads and some dirt and clay roads. It was hard to find.
There was a story told by many older relatives after my grandpa's death in 1965, back in the earl 1930's -- one late summer evening a car drove up in front of my great grandpa and my great grandmother Emma's farm house. A young couple and two other men got out and followed the path that lead up to the barn -- where there were already people caught up in a dice game.
As in the movies, when they walked in -- things pretty much stopped. And, one of the men walked up to my great grandpa and asked him if he could get in on the dice game. My grandfather was about 42 years old at the time and was a fairly large man, standing at 6 feet 3" and weighing well over 200 lbs. He had a reputation for not being afraid of anyone and was the only man in that area who ran a gambling house out in his barn.
When the man had gone up to my great grandpa, it wasn't but a second or two after that my grandfather nodded his head in approval. And, the man got in on the dice game. The evening wore on and before long, daylight was filtering in through the cracks in the barn. The young couple and the two men had already taken their leave and had driven away in the early hours of the morning while it was still dark.
It was later said that the young couple was none other than Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker. The other two men remained unknown. My great grandpa never told anyone of their visit -- and he forbid any others who were there that night to ever speak of it. And, it wasn't until after his death that anyone did speak of it. And, besides, no one wanted the only gambling and drinking spot to be shut down.
Sam took that secret to his grave -- he was 69 years old when he passed away due to heart failure. My great grandmother, Emma, she lived to be 101 years old! The ruins of their old farm house can still be seen from the highway that now runs past it, as well as, my great grandfathers' old barn, which has fallen in on itself!
I think -- I would have been a Bonnie Parker, if I had lived back in those days. I sort of take after my great grandpa Sam.

Some guy wanders into a cemetery and passes out cold, visitors come by and aren't even curious if the guy is dead or alive? You pass out in a cemetery in Texas and you don't know what's lurking in the bushes.

So, a person is on the ground, possibly passed out, possibly dead for that matter. And you just take some pictures. Damn. That is pretty cold. Go check on a person passed out in a graveyard, or at least call the authorities. Where was your good sense?
