While I think it´s somewhat true it is also not really true. I agree that animation has the greater potential but just like with real life acting it comes down to talent and effort. Because there sure are a ton of animated shows where emotions don´t hit at all. And on the other end of the spectrum we have actors that can actually evoke feelings of sadness or other emotions in themselves while acting, making their body actually do all the micro expressions that you simply can´t imitate otherwise. That has the same effect as a fake yawn against a real yawn. Both look identical but the real one is contagious while the fake one is not.
@@JBasilix Here you're talking about the talent and effort of a real actor, but you're making it unnecessary complicated.
The film/series/animation series outcome is the result of collaboration work between director, writer, producer, musicians, actors, artists, voice actors etc.
In other words if you watch anime shows with cheap directing, writing, music etc. and the show is bad, it has nothing to do with animation's ability to express emotions better.
And I disagree. Whether it's real people acting or fictional anime characters expressing their emotions, I won't believe them if the show itself is dogsh*t.
@@Elan_Na_Ain Wait what? When did I say anything about bad shows still having great emotional impact? Of course if a show is shit and you are not invested then the emotions won´t get to you. No matter the medium that much is obvious. I was talking about the display of emotions even in good shows.
You also seemed to have completely missed what I mean by: "I agree that animation has the greater potential".
It means that in theory all that was said about animation having more expressiveness is true. But in reality it is not as cut and dry. Remember that the original point was that animation portraits emotions better 99% of the time. But that simply isn´t true in my opinion. Because we are not talking about what animators can theoretically achieve but actually do.
Yeah we can take a masterclass in expressions like the recent Apothecary Diaries and compare everything with that. But that is not how 99% of TV animation looks.

But I'm staying with my opinion. For me fictional characters are more expressive because they're themselves from the beginning. Meanwhile real actors have to understand fictional characters to act as them.
I agree that some real details make real acting more expressive. But, for example, when I watch a movie in some parts I see that it's not some character. It's Tom Holland, Johnny Depp or someone else from the real world. I can't see the character, I see the person. Especially in some shit movies.
Conclusion: in bad animation I just see shitty written characters. In bad movie I see a shitty written character + actor who plays a shitty role
They're fighting because Mei is doing something Kiana disagrees with to save Kiana. Kiana is trying to stop her, but Mei's determined to save her at all costs.

I love these animated shorts though i prefer the japanese ones since the emotion somehow gets across better in them.

Yeah I believe these ones are in JP, and I agree JP seems to convey emotions much more dramatically
I disagree with that. JP is good but never beat the original. People usually like jp because of anime and i’m also love anime. But i always love the original dub😊. It’s just my opinion.
@@izzahzemino9436 I actually agree with both takes, the original is the ORIGINAL, and that holds weight. Not saying it’s worse by any means. And yes I love anime so I’m drawn to JP more.
I should say, I understand and can empathize with both takes
