We have several of the older IBM StorWize devices (That's brand name of the software) in our production datacenter. Most important thing to understand is that both controller nodes in an enclosure have to be wired and configure identically. This means that you have to plug in both of the MGMT Ethernet ports and the same iSCSI ports on each controller. You really should not plug in only one of them. Both controller nodes build an active/passive cluster with a common web interface (the cluster IP) which can fail over from one node to the other, but each node also has an individual ServiceIP, which only addresses the secondary Service Webinterface. You should only access the service IP interface, in case the cluster interface does not work. Also both nodes need to be able to see each other via the MGMT ethernet. Our machines use the FibreChannel connections for storage traffic and not iSCSI, so I don't know why only one controller is showing 10G link. It might be a power saving feature, where only the active controller node is in full 10G mode. Next up: Storage itself Individual Disks -> mDisk (RAID) -> Pool (is fed by mDisks) -> Volumes (are allocated in a pool) -> Host (can access a volume mapped to it) Since you have a combination of HDDs and SSDs you should look into the EasyTiering functionality that IBM offers (If that is still the name of the feature) It is available on mixed pools, which will tell the controller to use the SSDs as a fast cache for often accessed (hot) blocks of data, while using the HDDs for raw storage of cold data.
On FlashSystems (Storwize) that have a (T)echnician port, the port will disable if it detects a switch connection (uplink) because IT runs a DHCP service for a connected laptop. The 192.168.0.1 is the default IP. Port 1 on each node also has a default Service IP (192.168.70.121/192.168.70.122). On lower models, the 2nd cluster port doubles as the intial (T)echnician port. Under duress, you can also connect a keyboard and monitor to the USB/VGA port on FS5100/FS7200/FS9100/FS9200 and use CLI to init the cluster.
You should be able sign up for the Free version of Storage Insights, i think with that one you only get 24hours on analytics and automatic ticket logging with valid Support contract.

@@MyPlayHouse I know you are a big fan of IBM/Lenovo and you already said in an earlier video that you are not a big fan of HP, I think that was mainly due to their lack of service when there was something wrong with a system. I myself have an IBM x3250 M5 as my PFSense firewall, but other than that I am running on DELL R420 and Dell R630 so far, since from the 3 brands I had (Fujitsu, DELL and IBM), DELL simply went out ahead when it comes to internal construction, modularity and simply how they are to physically work with and upgrade. Do you have experience or an educated opinion on DELL machines you want to share? =)
Hi Morten, I suggest you also connect this matrix to Proxmox. Provide the resource in ISCSI technology with a 10 Gb/s link. I do not remember if you have two proxmox instances or only one, it is best if you have two proxmox instances connected to each other in a cluster, then you could have fun migrating virtual machines between both servers. The disk space that you make available using ISCSI for the proxmox cluster is best configured in LVM technology, then virtual machines will be automatically available on each of the servers to which you have an ISCSI resource connected from the IBM matrix. Best regards Have fun
As long as you are using them in the SAN,, that does not really matter.. it's first if you want to reuse drives in a server,, that can be an issue... But short,, I do not know :-)
Depends on the game and RAM setup. If you want to run multiple server you need a fast multi-core CPU and a LOT of RAM. If you only want to host one or two you should be fine with a low-end CPU. For Shooters you need a really fast internet connection to offer good pings for everyone. For something like minecraft you need RAM - a lot of it. The more players you want to host the more RAM you need.

You really need to get a 2-port 16Gb FC hba for this, otherwise you miss your chance of seeing what it can do.
