Double D Addam is a bastard but only recognized bastards go by their bastard name. Addam of Hull is like Joan of Arc. Hull is a town on the island of Driftmark. The bastard names for each region are Pyke: Bastards born in the Iron Islands are given the surname "Pyke". Sand: This is the bastard surname used for noble bastards in Dorne. The nickname "Sand Snakes" comes from the surname and the nickname of their father, the "Red Viper". Flowers: This is the name used in the Reach. Hill: This is the name used in the Westerlands. Stone: This is the name used in the Vale. Storm: This is the name used in the Stormlands. Rivers: This is the name used in the Riverlands. Waters: This is the name used in the Crownlands. Snow: This is the name used in the North
At this point in the run of both shows have we meet a bastard from every kingdom but The Iron Islands? I think so. He never appears on the show but in the ASOIAF books Cotter Pyke is one of the high ranking officers in the Night’s Watch. He’s in charge of Eastwatch. But he’s not of noble birth on his either mom's or his dad's side so maybe it’s different in the Iron Islands. EDIT: I was wrong, Cotter Pyke gets name dropped by Jeor Mormont while talking to Jon in the season 1 finale of GOT. But we never actually see him. It'd be interesting to see how bastards are treated on the Iron Islands.
Oooo Storm is so cool. And Waters sucks, comes off as if they wanted Rivers but it was already taken. Flowers also sucks. They should have used Rose, like Axel Rose. 😅
That Squid Game cook-off had to happen. Cuz Jace made it super clear to his mother that he was afraid of all the other lil bastards out there that could challenge him for the throne. So she wisely chose to thin the blond-haired herd.
Ulf flying over king's landing was NOT part of any kind of plan to draw out Aemond. I think it was clear that it was one of two things. The first is just that Kings Landing is where Silverwing just happened to take Ulf on their first joyride as Barrett hinted to. Or the reason in my opinion, was that one of Ulf's first thoughts was that he wanted to fly over kings landing in hopes that his drunk friends will somehow see him and he can show off his new dragon/ prove once and for all he is indeed a Targaryen.
Agreed. It looks like Rhaenyra and Ulf are still covered in ash or dirt right after Vermithor toasted all the potential seeds. If she was expecting this she would have been on dragonback but I think she was outside waiting to see if Silverwing came back and who the rider was. Also did not see Jace and Baela and their dragons. It definitely looked like a joyride that just happened after he got on Silverwing's back, just like young Aemond had with Vhagar.
i love seeing your reactions to this show cuz youre like the only people i follow the reviews of who havent read the book! very refreshing perspective 😂
Ahhh it’s my first time watching your podcast and I’m hooked!! I do see HOD going for 4 seasons . So much to dissect with the other characters. But great stuff guys! Yall are funny!
I see Alicent and Daemon on a redemption arc. Hopefully having learned valuable lessons from their mistakes. Her Ophelia/ Baptism moment was the turning point. I also like how Daemon's kryptonite is a young person with balls of steel. Like young Rhaenyra, he just seems charmed by the youngins. That and Harrenhall having taken its toll; humility seems to be sneaking in.
My takeaway from Ulf’s joyride was simply Ulf being reckless, possibly DUI (dragonriding under the influence) and just wanted to buzz the tower and show off to his homies. 😂 Admittedly, he seems to have little control, but he also seems to have no clue that his life is in serious peril from multiple angles 😂 He seems like the type to give zero thoughts to the possible hazards before just doing whatever pops into his head. If that’s the case, Rhaenyra’s gonna be pissed!
Aegon only became King because his mother propped him up, but she has abandoned his recovery to get healthy and continue as King. It's telling that only Larys is trying to motivate Aegon to work hard and get back to the throne, whereas his mother has left his bed, Cristen is not present as his hand, and Aeomond is doing God knows what as Prince Regent.
I also think Ulf stepping on a dragon egg is symbolic of the start of the extinction of the dragons. They no longer respect or honour them in order to preserve their lineage.
No spoilers just important bastard information. Bastards in westeros only have the bastard last name if their father has said hey thats my bastard.. then they become snow, sand, rivers, waters, pike etc. Addam of hull literally means addam who is from hull, the town. If corlys recognized him as his bastard he'd be addam waters and if corlys legitimized him he'd be addam velaryon.
At this point, it’s probably a 5 season show. S1 set the stage for a tight 4 seasons but this season’s pacing (not a criticism) has made it difficult to wrap up the story in 16 more episodes. It’ll likely be 5 seasons. You’ll be surprised by what’s to come.

Another great one yall! One thing you got slightly wrong, Hugh’s mother was not a bastard. She was an actual Targaryen princess who got pushed out of the house and decided to go work at a brothel. All good though keep up the good work!
@@OystersClamsCockles neither technically, but Saera Targaryen was the sister of baelon (visy and daemons dad) and she was pushed away for being promiscuous, so she went and worked in a brothel. Again, if you didn’t have knowledge of the exact family tree that wouldn’t be something you would’ve known so I can see why you thought she was a bastard. Of course that isn’t 100% she could just be a bastard, but with context clues I’d say his mother is Saera
@@OystersClamsCocklesdefinitely book info. As far as we know his mom is sister to Bealon, so could be a bastard or a princess. But definitely the other commenter is saying it's not because King Jaehaerys is known to be loyal to his wife and supposedly never had any bastards. They did have 13 children tho, and one was a whore in Lys, that's why there was such a mess with the succession that put Vizzy T up on the Iron Throne and why the other guy thinks Hughs Mom is Princess Saera.
Agreed about Ulf just going off on his own there versus this being a plan, esp given he was all over the shop with his flying. Surprised we did see his Tavern Budds looking up going 'Is that Ulf?' at some point. I guess the Dragon Handlers not participating was in large part because they'd have ended up getting crisped, however it will be interesting to see if they will be back now the riders have been determined, or whether they've departed Dragonstone entirely, which might play into the gradual decline/decrepitude of the younger dragons going forward?
When daemon killed Blackwood it felt like he was being forced to do something and made him feel small and not in control especially by a child when he’s already Rhaenyras king consort now he’s just been made the Riverlands bitch too
For me deamons arc paid off in this scene, As I felt that damon giving up and executing Blackwood was him accepting the fact that he got out maneuvered and became helpless. I felt damon loved the power and validation that a king gave him, But he is someone that has enjoyed so much freedom and never had to deal with his consequences because he wasnt King.
It was definitely a much needed ego death. Willem represented everything Daemon is/was and how much of a pain in the ass he is politically. Just doing whatever cruel, chaotic things he feels like to reach a goal and leaving others to deal with the consequences. He essentially offed himself in a way. It finally made him understand that the only thing keeping Daemon off the same chopping block all those years was Viserys and how that stress also contributed to the King's deterioration. Now Rhaenyra just needs to yank him by the ear. The question I have is: Daemon is learning humility and politicking the hard way, but Rhaenyra is allowing herself to slip into the power of the dragon. So on these separate paths, will their methods align in the long run?
What about retrospective on The Boys? Loved your Shogun comments ❤ And definitely checking out your older GoT content and Sopranos. Awesome stuff being on so long!
Jasper Wylde. Lord of Rain in the storm lands. He is called Ironrod by the smallfolk in regards to his, um, member, because he fathered 29 kids on four different wives. I like him in the show, he is sassy and pragmatic.
The snap you heard during physical therapy was the wooden walking cane, I believe. Talking about the Riverlands also has me wondering what happened to the gray beards Jace was promised from the North?
I feel like the most confusing aspect of this season has been the treatment of time. This whole plot line of the dragonrider tryouts feels like it's taken place over the course of a few days, but if you compare that to the amount of healing that Aegon has gone through, then that tells us it's been at least several months. So we can't really know if the final scene of the episode took place immediately after tryouts or not.
@@AngieDirk excellent point! I hadn’t even thought about that contradiction. I was running with the belief that this was all happening in a very short period of time. But you are absolutely correct that Aegon’s recovery to this point would have taken weeks if not months. Hell, I feel like it would take that long even with modern medicine. 🤔🤔🤔🤔

i really hope we get to see Raena claim a dragon next episode!! Also i can totally see Ulf falling off his dragon or something lol he doesn't seem cut out for this life
NOT A SPOILER :Book Information and correction - Hugh's Mother was not a bastard daughter, she was a full blood child. Saera Targaryen Daughter of King Jaehaerys and The Good Queen Alysanne King Jaehaerys didn't really like her. But point is she is not a bastard child, she just enjoyed a good time ;)... Well there is also a chance the some of the male encounters where painted as 'she wanted it' and I would say a high chance the crimes of men were writen as the scandal of a young woman. But not a bastard :)
Saera was actually Jaehaerys's favorite child before the scandal. That's why his disappointment and fury were so intense. So intense it destroyed his relationship with Alysanne. But he secretly missed her and regretted it. He used to mistake Alicent for her and it made his final days peaceful to believe Saera had returned to him. Which is why I think Vermithor took to Hugh. There was a severed bond and sadness there that might have transferred to his dragon.
Appreciate the insight BUT book readers really need to wrap their heads around the show not following every element of the books. We do not know EXACTLY who Hugh's mother was in the show. As GRRM has said, there are two different canons: book and show.
I definitely think it was an accident Ulf flying over KL but also Rhaenyra was posted up at the perfect time with all her dragons 😅 so did she notice he was gone and was like ope gotta be ready because he may be getting chased by Vhagar LOL Whatever I try not to think about things too hard. Either way it gave me full body chills. Can’t wait until next week.
I'm afraid we're gonna lose Daemon soon. What else can he add now? Rhaenyra is doing better without him.... Is he gonna die shortly after he leaves Harrenhal?? 😞
I'm thinking Alicent will give her life for one of her sons. She doesn't seem like she has that many good options left. But Daemon. First, he's gotta take out Aemond. Plus, he's still such a wild card. And I'm hoping he just cut off the hand of the Blackwood knight. Not his head. Cuz as a kid he was such a valiant soul. I wanna see more.
Daemon is still Rhaenyra's most valuable asset, of course she needs him. These seeds have only just bonded and probably don't know what they are doing. Daemon is battle-tested, dangerous, and has a bond so strong with his dragon that he doesn't even need to speak commands.
@@Noelle_714 idk if he will even leave… There’s that scene where Alys tells him (real? dream?) that he is going to die at Harrenhal 😬 I think of that every time things get sketchy for him over there… 🫣
Also if we are guessing possible deaths ( I haven’t read book so no spoilers) I think we will see dragon battle and I think Aemond will force Heleana to fight on Dreamfyre (already saw that in next week teaser) and I think she will die. OR Baela. OR Adam of Hull. I think we definitely get a death but I don’t think it will be one of the fantastic four. (Rhaenyra, Daemon, Alicent, Cole.)

Appreciate the insight BUT book readers really need to wrap their heads around the show not following every element of the books. We do not know EXACTLY who Hugh's mother was in the show. As GRRM has said, there are two different canons: book and show.
I had heard that the initial plan after season 1 aired was for 4 seasons total.
I definitely think it was an accident Ulf flying over KL but also Rhaenyra was posted up at the perfect time with all her dragons 😅 so did she notice he was gone and was like ope gotta be ready because he may be getting chased by Vhagar LOL
Whatever I try not to think about things too hard. Either way it gave me full body chills.
Can’t wait until next week.
Alicent creating a music video for her boy Cole
Excited for Silo S2!! 5:02
Me too!!! S1 was SO good!
@@a.girl.has.no.name_ I can’t wait to do live shows on my channel!! Lol
Fully expect these new dragons to all die ASAP. Rhaenyra can't have nice things
Y’all crack me up!
@@Noelle_714 idk if he will even leave… There’s that scene where Alys tells him (real? dream?) that he is going to die at Harrenhal 😬 I think of that every time things get sketchy for him over there… 🫣
I’m new here. Your intro is insane lmfao
The greatest intro music of all time. Hear the full version on podcast platforms haha
Daemon got punk'd by Oscar Tullly!
Got OWNED badly

ulf is a lad
First time listener. Is the intro always that long? Was not pleasant.
This is the significantly shortened version actually haha the long version plays on podcast platforms and GOES INCREDIBLY HARD HOW DARE YOU
Please little 3 lb 5 oz baby Jesus tell me you are going to review severance season 2?
Oh 1000000% yes
@@OystersClamsCockles let’s find out what’s for dinner
Idk I think I need more dragons
MOAR!
Why is Harrenhall so huuuge?
Dragonstone and the Red Keep is roughly 400 miles away from each other.
Nah it’s a few minute ride on dragon back as we just saw

ADDAM ISNT CORLYS'S SON, ITS HIS GRANDSON.
@@loyallexi163 I kindly disagree ☺️ He and Alyn (sp?) are brothers and both are Corlys’ sons.
@@heidijorigsby5081 it's litterally based on a book that says Laenor is his father.
@@loyallexi163 The literal author of the book has, repeatedly, said that the show canon and book canon are different. In the show, Addam and Alyn are brothers, and they are both Corlys' bastard sons.
Haha he's just along for the ride! #wildboy
@OystersClamsCockles we will see next episode when he starts calling him grandsire, Rhenys litterally says his mother must've been beautiful because Lanor is gay. Seasmoke was Lanor's dragon so he sniffed out his son.
