    Hi, great tutorial, thank you. Could you kindly let me know what tripod you're using? I am looking for an inexpensive tripod that can support the RED ONE without breaking the bank. Please help in suggestions, thanks once more.

    These tutorials are simply the best!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
    Btw, how little do you think it would be possible to buy a similar setup for second hand on say ebay or some other second hand dealer??? I know that there is a market for refurbished RED ONEs but I'm not really sure how much they go for. I've read as little as $7,000 for a setup rather like this second hand but it would be great to know what you think!!!!!!

    Issac, Red was advertising the body only for the Red One at $4,000 on their website. Keep in mind you would need body and batteries that can easily add another few thousand bucks. Blackmagic might be a real strong alternative as it will accept Canon EF lenses which plentiful and less expensive. Yes Go Pro does have their 4K function but the frame rate is not helpful. Keep creating!

    Isaac thanks for the comments, Red One's have come down in price as you can only find them as refurbished models from the manufacture or used from a private party. You might want to hold on for a bit as a couple of other manufactures are coming out with camera's that shoot in 4k resolution and have good lens mounts such as the Blackmagic or the Sony FDR AX1 which has a fixed lens but will shoot in 4k. Hope this helps.

    Thank you!! Do you have any idea about the prices they have come down to??? I have heard about Blackmagic and I will have a look. Incredibly enough, my Gopro Hero 3 Black Edition can shoot in 4k which is pretty impressive for a helmet camera, sadly however it shoots it at 12fps meaning that the 4k isn't very practical :(

    How do you find out how many Hours you have on your Red Mysterium-X Camera?

    You should have maybe explained the different between project timebase and the shooting framerate.

    • @4FrameMusic
      @4FrameMusic 7 років тому

      Hi there!
      The project timebase is how many frames will be *played* in one second
      The shooting framerate is how many frames will be *recorded* in one second
      If Timebase = 24p & Framerate = 60fps - Slow motion
      If Timebase =24p & Framerate = 15fps - Sped-up motion (Timelapse)
      If Timebase = 24p & Framerate = 24fps - Standard recording
      Basically,
      If Timebase is less than Framerate = Slow motion
      If Timebase is greater than Framerate = Timelapse
      If Timebase equals the Framerate = Standard recording

    Why not actually point the camera at something so we can actually see what the adjustments you are making are doing? Why just the black screen?

    Hi I have the Red one MX but don't have a Red monitor. I'm using a regular MUST HD monitor, but I can't see the bottom part of the menu's like yours. I can't see the histogram with goal posts. Am I doing something wrong

    • @EmpEntTV
      @EmpEntTV  6 років тому

      The use of a non-Red monitor might be the main factor in your inability to see that info. First go into menu settings and see if there might be a way to change monitor output view for the HD Monitor.

      EmpEntTV thanks for the reply. I was playing around and then when I pressed record it just somehow showed up. Hopefully it stays on when I turn it back on again. Thanks so much for your reply.

    It's been around Six year or so that the Red One MX camera has relseard. Now still the Used Red one is available. Should i buy a used one instead buying a Canon C200 or EVA1?

    • @Dragontasticvideos
      @Dragontasticvideos 6 років тому +1

      Well, its an old camera. It depends on what youre using it for. As for a fact some do still use it nowadays, I have recently too. Anyway, first off, the red is bigger heavier and worse to handle than a Canon C200 or an EVA1. Also I believe the red ones all have either a PL mount to be equipped or a Nikon F Mount which is quite unusual. The one I used had a nikon mount, and I ended up using some prime lenses normally intended to be used with photo-cameras/dslr's. Yes you can buy an adapter but you know how that is like i guess... The C200 also I believe has canons dual pixel af which practically is unbeatable.
      Also on the red the low light performance is just bad. Another thing is that the red actually chewed through much more batteries than a C200. At least it seemed like a lot. Ive only used it in a studio. But when a V-Mount Battery "only" lasts for 45 mins, that does mean something is up. I wouldnt really want to have it outside when its cold. Ive worked with a Sony FS7 Camera a lot recently and the same V-Mounts were enough for more than 5 hours of actual recording and not sitting around on a dolly waiting to actually record something as I had the Red One that time. But yeah, it was recording in Raw (it only can record in Raw, its something you have to deal with, but its great i dont have anything against shooting in raw) and I guess It does take a lot of power to run. Ive also been an assistant in using a RED Epic-W 6k and that used a battery every 1,5 hours so its no surprise anyway. Just maybe keep that in mind.
      In your place, well the Red One is a great camera, but nowadays there are easier and better alternatives to it, being the Black Magic Ursa Variants and the Canon C-Series, oh and also the panasonic options, but I only have experience with a Panasonic P2 lower end camcorder so I dont know a lot about that.
      A used Red is certainly cheaper than a C200 or especially an EVA 1 but its older, menu system is bad, it takes ages to get set up to a new scene or light-circumstance. Its just not a good run and gun setup. Well, it was intended to be a cinema camera, thats why it only shoots raw and all that jazz with the batteries or storage...
      If you want a more modern and easy to use and more compatible camera go for something else.
      Also try looking at a Sony FS5 its a really great camera in its regard and it uses normal cables and doesnt have those RED-only things where all accesories are hella expensive. Also its got a Sony E-Mount, there are some nice lenses out there right now for that mount...
      Hope I could help!

      I think canon c200 is more suitable for one man control ,but the file is really big (1Gbps) . The canon machine is easy to control and suitable for anywhere and anytime (100-102400 ISO)

    As you seem to know a lot about RED cameras, why are their accessories so expensive? DSMC TACTICAL RIBCAGE PACK is a perfect example: essentially, it is just a metal cage fitted for the RED EPIC /SCARLET, yes it may be a very string and well designed cage with many holes for lightweight but it is $1,175.00!!!!!!
    Is there something I'm missing, I can see why the cameras are so expensive, but not things like this!!!!!!! If someone could explain this then that would be really great!!!
    Thanks!!!!

    Should i buy a old RED One or a new bmc 4k? :/

    • @EmpEntTV
      @EmpEntTV  10 років тому +1

      I think you should go with a newer setup, while the deals are getting good on a Red One, the newer 4K's are a bit more compact, although if you find a "smokin" deal on a Red One it would be a bit hard to pass up.

      +Anton Zuykov i think the company even discontinued it. its probably cheaper to buy a camera with similar specs or larger sensor.
