  • This is a video of my ASH 26 and Jeremy's IKURA at Mission Peak Regional Preserve in Northern California. It was a great day to soar both 4-meter gliders, riding thermals up, followed by diving speed runs. The wind speed was ranging between 12 to 20 mph with enough thermic activity for one para-glider, one hang glider, and our two R/C sailplanes to soar up, and raid the sky with ease.

That day was a blast. We really enjoyed the opportunity to experience that type of flying at nearby foothills.

Right on buddy, I am still smiling from last week's fun. Thanks for talking me into hiking up with the ASH 26. It was so fun raiding the sky together. You flew great with your ballasted IKURA in rather light conditions, love the sounds it makes on speed passes. Thanks for a great day of soaring with good company.

Thanks for watching and posting. We lucked out, the conditions were splendid, and the soaring was tops. I just looked up "Traprain Law", what an amazing site with rich history and huge slope face with great lift potential. You are so lucky to have that as your local slope, WOW!

Thanks for this video. There is really a lot of wind and big slopes where you are flying. In my region it's the opposite, the slopes are small and the wind very light. I had to back up the center of gravity of my IKURA a lot to be able to fly more or less correctly in recent years in these conditions and not to use the flaps which brake too much. On the other hand I have the "snap-flap". Have you tried moving the center of gravity back? How far from the leading edge did you put it?
Below is the link of my tests in weak conditions.
