We bailed from our $$$ site at Colter Bay RV Campground last year for Gros Ventre with no hookups because the setting was such perfection even with no hookups. I saw a bull moose along the river behind our site just after arriving one afternoon but the best time, as you conveyed, is in the mornings just before sunrise. I spend 6 months no hook ups... and six months hooked only to sewer and electric... it costs me only 60 bucks for electricity from May to October .... and 180 in the LTVA's .... but propane, takes the place of my electric bill on my property in CO🤠 AND take a tip for your clean water transfer ... Mount an RV water pump to a small board. Put about 4 to 6 feet of clear 1/2" plastic line on the intake side and about 6 to 8 feet on the outflow side. (Or more depending on your situstion) Supply power to it with clamp clips for battery connection on ample length wire, with a toggle thumb switch. Available at most hardware or RV stores) PUMP YOUR WATER IN. Never lift another jug. Save your back. 👍
What i use is a 25 gallon blue tot, place in back of my truck. Use a macerator pump for gray and black. Fill the tot go to dump and use sewer hose, lift up in truck and dump. Even if not a dump in your site can travel to dump within reason. Just a thought. Thanks guys!
We went to Yellowstone September 19, 2020 - it was a journey though - not just a destination. We traveled from Eastern Oregon, up the Rattlesnake in Hells Canyon (ever driven that road???) then up Idaho Panhandle way up north through Glacier the Highline in Montana down to eastern WY, Devils Tower, Buffalo Bill SP - Dinosaurs!, then Sweet 16 to Yellowstone - beautiful all in its golden glory of early fall - I saw my first Buffalo after 7 years of Full time RV'ing (yea I know) - it was really crowded though - HUGE BUSES one after another full of 100's of overseas tourists who just literally invaded all of the spots. We drove our rig so parking was a big of an issue and there was a lot of construction going on which I imagine goes on. I don't think it'll be any better this summer.
Sean, for your gray water, get yourself a sewer cap with a garden hose connector on it. Get yourself a small piece of garden hose with a connector on it. Hook the garden hose to your new sewer cap and put the other end in your new tote. Much easier . Plus get yourself a 12 volt pump to transfer the drinking water from your water cans to the trailer. Put clips on the 12 volt pump and hook it to your truck battery. Much easier than holding the water cans against the trailer. Happy Trails.
I've been using the hose cap and hose for a year now and it works well. Short hose is good. I cut mine from an old hose, putting the replacement end closest to the new cap.
Love dry camping. Only 1 100 amp/hr battery (lead acid) and no solar. But a 2kw inverter generator for coffee and microwave times. Or if it's really hot, some AC. By the time coffee is made and mic used a few times a day, more than enough to top off the battery to run the trailer till the next day. Last weekend was three days of drag racing, 100% dry camping at the track with friends. Then pay to dump at a proper campground on the way home. It was just myself in the camper. so 3 days was easy. Didn't need to save water, showed every day. Love being self sufficient.
I once was camping in the fall in my VW van in a campsite there and woke very early to a sound. I peaked out the window and saw a herd of elk surrounding my van. A bull elk with massive antlers was right next to my window. The sight was just amazing. Enjoy!

I would have disappeared in a rushed minute in that river with my 5 weight rod floating line, small dry flies, couple small nymphs, waders, Sunday Afternoons wide brim hat, shades, and nice yummy lunch. 42 years now flyfishin Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.. I do believe that in my state it is legal to dump grey water anywhere. As long as I have a large camp sight I stretch out the hose and leave the valve open as to not flood the area. It’s just soapy water. I use dawn and it always smells fresh. I use the campground showers and bathrooms so black is no problem.
We got a battery operated pump at Walmart for $10 that makes filling the tank from the bags super easy. No spillage and no holding the bags or jerry cans up to fill up.
I definitely need to find a good pump for water. I tried a couple a few years ago and was not really pleased with their performance. A simple pump would make the job so much easier
Getting prepared for dry camping takes some effort but it's been well worth it for us. We rarely even stay in developed campsites anymore. Thanks for the video!
GTNP is our happy place as well. We are almost exclusively dry camp and have the water/release/repeat routine down. I mounted a 12 V pump to a small piece-O-wood so that I can easily fill the fresh water. I also use it when we are in the "Winds" to get water from the Green River (with filters of course). The "Winds" are our second happy place. Thanks for the fun videos. I have to tell you that you did throw me on Sunday as I waited with bated breath for the weekly video to drop. 😃 🤣
just came off a 5 day dry camping trip. Here in New England I don't see having solar. Too many trees to make it efficient. We just work around it as much as possible. Only ran the generator once. Have fun with the moose.
I think we just missed you. We were in the Grand Tetons the first week of September! I am sad I missed the snow in Yellowstone also! We sold the cows and our farm in Florida and are traveling the USA in our 25 ft 2017 Surveyor. I still have my two horses and boarding them at my girlfriends farm. Why hubby of 48 years, (49 in Nov.) are having a grand time! I have been watching your videos for almost 4 years now and love every one of them!! Thank you so much for the fun and helpful content! The Tetons are our happy place. Got a park permit this summer to spread my dad's ashes.. got to see moose immediately afterwards. In all the years I've been there, never have seen them. The mom and 2 youngsters walked up to the highway and stopped as we drove by. Incredibly special place!
We routinely do 4-5 days with no hookups and love it. Carry 2 marine batteries, extra water in 5 gallon collapsible jugs (we only have 20 gal fresh) but just upgraded size and storage. Can't wait to get back out.

F O O D Tip When you head South to Salt Lake a Great Food Tip is In -n-Out Burger . The Midvale Location is Best if you or your Fans are towing trailers. It is next to a Walmart , plenty of parking. I Say this because When we talk to folks in YNP & GTNP They fly into SLC from back East . They are so Excited about In -n-Out Burger.
I have a 28 gallon tote. For gray water, I’ve found that buying a Valtera sewer hose cap with garden hose attachment makes it far easier to transfer gray water to the tote tank. Just have a length of garden hose available to hook one end to the cap and run the other end into the tank.

It snowed July4, 1995/96 in Yellowstone. Last September in ENNIS MT ground sticking hail storm. Be a Scout - be prepared. My first trip to Kelly & Jackson was 1961 for Teton Valley Ranch Camp - dirt streets and wood sidewalks.
This is exactly what I needed to see today. A nice reminder what can be done with truck and trailer. My family of 4 has been living in our 1998 21.5ft and 1964 15ft trailers since early May while our house is being renovated. Trailer life works! I'm always inspired by loloho and their fans. Camp on!
Easier than a blue boy for grey water: A cap for the dump valve that has a hose connection. A short pice of dedicated hose lets you fill a bucket which is easier to dump.
Thanks for bringing back memories of dry camping at Coulterbay. August of 1972 my Dad was yelling at me to get my socks on because it was cold out. They were wet from falling in the lake jumping rocks the evening before. I had to tell Dad I can't they are frozen to the clothes line. Great memories from my late parents!! Today I carry 2, 6 gallon jugs for water and a 24 gallon blue boy, dumping a load each morning as part of a routine. Showers everyday for 5 people kids helped haul the water while I took care of the gray. About moose be very careful around them they will charge you and are more dangerous then bear are. They have been known to take on the logging trucks shoving their paddle through many radiators. Thanks for the great memories!!🤗😁🤗
I camp on my own land and never have/use hookups. Solar panels and batteries for power (and a 2000 watt invertor), 2 30lb LP tanks, and an extra 40 gallons of water in a tank in the back of my truck.
In our Airstream the bathroom sink drains into the black tank (several models do this). Since the grey tank always fills and the black tank does not, doing some dishwashing in the bathroom sink makes the grey tank last longer. To make fresh water last longer I shut off the water to the toilet and keep a jug of water (that I fill from the campground spigot) and use it for flushing.
I remember my first camping trip with no hook-ups! We drove down to Arizona to a Forest Service sight. Then we walked down a louder and 30 steps carved into the rock to the bottom of the canyon. Then we walked 20 miles through a wandering creek bed to the ruins . The place was magnificent the large log set at the cave entrance where the nativies would bring up their harvests and game to the pueblo. Magnificent engineering done by a peoples we still don't know much about..
We are off for our last trip on Sunday. The last time we camped in the park we are going to in the fall, we saw a moose. We can go about 2 weeks with our water, but that is because we use Jerry Cans as our primary water. All our dishes are done outside (except if it is very wet outside) and we regularly fill them up. That mean less challenges to fill and empty our tanks.| Enjoy your trip.
ah Gros Ventre where you get to backup in front of the entire campground and block the only exit for a 50 trailer loop, its like a Nascar pit crew race to get situated. If you guys are using a battery monitor shunt like I think you are, we've found our propane furnace to use about 30-40 watts, well within our battery capability for maintaining a temp overnight.
If I am going to boondock I am going to do it for free. I am able to go 10 days before I need a dump station. I head to a CG for one night, do laundry in the rv, fill up with fresh water and dump black and gray tanks. I did that from June 15 to July 27 in and around GT and Yellowstone. Was awesome!
My F350 is also Bulletproofed by Bulletproof Diesel. I added a BD Diesel tap shifter LOVE IT. I can now choose any gear any time. It included an engine brake. Go down steep hills and never touch the brakes. Just an idea.
I can not wait to see a moose next year at Grand Teton. Beautiful, majestic, but will jack you up if you disrespect them. I actually wanted to visit Yellowstone the most from watching your channel. I was really not a clueless child when I visited Yellowstone this past July. I knew all the spots, I knew where to go, and it made my trip much more pleasant. When I needed tips to see certain animals in the park, I asked the Rangers. They was very helpful.
Bear with me regarding this intricate camping humor. Why do I get hooked on their channel when it says no hookup? It is not easy to be Norwegian and understand everything. For example, who is Jerry Can? Why is it called greywater, when it is not gray, why is it called black water, now ... ok forget it. And I stood outside for many nights getting to see how the moon can look like honey. Well that's why it says long long. And in Norway, moose is called Elg, but we do not have Elk in Norway. But I love the US and am just a little jealous hehe :)
I couldn't comment on your latest live stream, so I'll do it here. You were wondering about Hot springs, try Goldbug hot spring in Idaho. It includes a good mile hike to get to it. And you can't take the airstream to the trailhead.

Our plastic vented Jerry cans have two handles for hanging on to when filling our tank. Also the sewer tote we call it a honey wagon. Love your info thank you!!
We just got back from an RV park in Vermont. At the initial dump we used the "wife holding the hose" method to hold the elbow in the "open PVC pipe" hookup. During the week we took a tour at Rock of Ages granite quarry. Free samples! I chuckled and thought of Sean while adding the new granite ballast to the sewer hose elbow.
Aslo if you dry camp where there are vaulted toilets talk to the host most places will let you dump gray water in the pit. This liquefies the solids and makes it easier for the septic truck to clean out the vault. South Dakota State parks are good with this practice. The toilet lifts off the concrete mount so you can dump it right in with out lifting your grey water tote.

We loved GTNP!! We did a float down the snake river with the GT Lodge Company. Had the best guide (request Kent). We saw three moose in the middle of the afternoon at the end of June. Kent’s theory was that the moose can’t always be dawn and dusk animals if they want to eat enough in the 90 or so frost free mornings they get there every year.
Hey guys, I must say, so far we are the full hook up people when we've been out. This is really our first year of enthusiastic rving. It took my wife a little convincing. She's on board now. We also have a off grid cabin. So we do know what the boondocking is all about. We're planning our 30th anniversary trip for the fall of 2023 to glacier, yellow stone and the tetons. Actually this is my favorite type of camping. Don’t have near the solar you do, just two LA batteries and 200w of portable solar. Just back from 5 days dry camping in the sierras and had no problems, never even thought of breaking out the Honda generator. Sure I had to reposition the panels throughout the day, small price to pay for the silence in the forest.
After following LOLOHO since 2019 and purchasing a 4 year old AS ( read the book) we finally made it to Gro Ventre this summer. (Appropriate tee shirt pic sent earlier) and although it was a little smokey when we were there we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks for getting us started in the right direction!
Jealous of you guys in Jackson without the crowds. Was there this summer and its elbow to elbow in the square, thousands of people. Can't wait to head out full time in the fall. I'll never have to camp with the tourists again. The grey water tote was funny as hell, I use a 60 gallon one when we hit the state parks and I empty my grey tanks daily. My wife and kids wouldn't last one night dry camping. We have 2 full baths and 4 tanks in the fifth wheel and it literally won't last 2 days. You guys are awesome water savers.
Love your videos and this one was no exception. I live my RV adventures through you guys. We can only go as far as 12-15 miles away right now with our work situation. Our favorite state park is just 2 miles away as the crow flies, about 5 miles driving. So I guess I am lucky in some ways. ❤
Love your channel, we only camp about 7 times a year but usually only 1 with electric due to we love our waterfront sites, I feel like you don't need electric we have a generator to top off our 2 camper batteries 10 days without we do no problem without electric we even don't have cell service cause we do the Adirondack mountain range, fill hookups is not camping in my opinion our camper is fine, if people need to get ahold of us the Rangers an get us.

After using one of those back-breaking, un-ergonomic 25-gal gray water containers on tiny wheels during our pop-up camping days, my husband went to the hardware store and bought a plastic 5 gal bucket with a lid. With a sewer cap with garden hose adapter and short hose, there is no mess to dump. The bucket can ride in the back of the truck, and it is much easier to dump at the dump station or in a campground commode. Plus, if you need more than one, they nest when not in use.
Really enjoyed this video. I was in Gros Ventre campground in July and didn't see any moose. I've been missing the moose so much since I moved away from Park City, UT! That big bull was so beautiful. Also liked the demo on the grey water tote. I passed on getting one because I didn't think I handle the weight. Thanks for confirming the capacity and process. After years of learning from y'all we are delighted to share a tip that might help you regarding your smart bottles. We use a D-cell battery operated pump most commonly used for turkey fryer oil transfer to pump from the bags to the fresh. We did our ONLY how to video on it. If you want I'll send you the link, but you can probably get the idea.😉. Great video as always!
Wise move to more to a solar gain site for your campsite. While traveling in our 1955 Airstream Overlander (fully boondoggle outfitted) we always look for full sun exposure. We always try to avoid full hookup sites but now just because of the cost but because we like to exercise our solar system and lithium batteries to keep them fully exercise. LOL !

We just came back from 9 days of dry camping. Big tanks, big solar and big battery bank are the keys to success. We rarely if ever go to hookup sites.

In the health world we call that little Square sink a hopper we use the to clean up soiled equipment that has to be sent out for cleaning
We just did a three week road trip to Alaska with basically no hook-ups. We travel with a Palomino pop-up truck camper.

We routinely do 4-5 days with no hookups and love it. Carry 2 marine batteries, extra water in 5 gallon collapsible jugs (we only have 20 gal fresh) but just upgraded size and storage. Can't wait to get back out.

In -n-Out Burger . The Midvale Location is Best if you or your Fans are towing trailers. It is next to a Walmart , plenty of parking. I Say this because When we talk to folks in YNP & GTNP They fly into SLC from back East . They are so Excited about In -n-Out Burger.
We always have to stop at In-n-Out at least a couple of times when we're traveling out west!

I have a 28 gallon tote. For gray water, I’ve found that buying a Valtera sewer hose cap with garden hose attachment makes it far easier to transfer gray water to the tote tank. Just have a length of garden hose available to hook one end to the cap and run the other end into the tank.

It snowed July4, 1995/96 in Yellowstone. Last September in ENNIS MT ground sticking hail storm. Be a Scout - be prepared. My first trip to Kelly & Jackson was 1961 for Teton Valley Ranch Camp - dirt streets and wood sidewalks.

This is exactly what I needed to see today. A nice reminder what can be done with truck and trailer. My family of 4 has been living in our 1998 21.5ft and 1964 15ft trailers since early May while our house is being renovated. Trailer life works! I'm always inspired by loloho and their fans. Camp on!
Easier than a blue boy for grey water: A cap for the dump valve that has a hose connection. A short pice of dedicated hose lets you fill a bucket which is easier to dump.
Watching you guys makes me and my family feel so much more comfortable being in the RV with no hook ups.
Thanks for bringing back memories of dry camping at Coulterbay. August of 1972 my Dad was yelling at me to get my socks on because it was cold out. They were wet from falling in the lake jumping rocks the evening before. I had to tell Dad I can't they are frozen to the clothes line. Great memories from my late parents!! Today I carry 2, 6 gallon jugs for water and a 24 gallon blue boy, dumping a load each morning as part of a routine. Showers everyday for 5 people kids helped haul the water while I took care of the gray.
About moose be very careful around them they will charge you and are more dangerous then bear are. They have been known to take on the logging trucks shoving their paddle through many radiators.

I camp on my own land and never have/use hookups. Solar panels and batteries for power (and a 2000 watt invertor), 2 30lb LP tanks, and an extra 40 gallons of water in a tank in the back of my truck.

Try a Jabsco Drill Pump Kit for transferring water to your tank. Most RVers have a cordless drill with them and use it on this pump, works great.

In our Airstream the bathroom sink drains into the black tank (several models do this). Since the grey tank always fills and the black tank does not, doing some dishwashing in the bathroom sink makes the grey tank last longer. To make fresh water last longer I shut off the water to the toilet and keep a jug of water (that I fill from the campground spigot) and use it for flushing.

We have camped for over a week with no hook-ups many times and once we got used to it, it wasn't a problem...TY for the video!
I remember my first camping trip with no hook-ups! We drove down to Arizona to a Forest Service sight. Then we walked down a louder and 30 steps carved into the rock to the bottom of the canyon. Then we walked 20 miles through a wandering creek bed to the ruins . The place was magnificent the large log set at the cave entrance where the nativies would bring up their harvests and game to the pueblo. Magnificent engineering done by a peoples we still don't know much about..
We are off for our last trip on Sunday. The last time we camped in the park we are going to in the fall, we saw a moose.
We can go about 2 weeks with our water, but that is because we use Jerry Cans as our primary water. All our dishes are done outside (except if it is very wet outside) and we regularly fill them up. That mean less challenges to fill and empty our tanks.|

ah Gros Ventre where you get to backup in front of the entire campground and block the only exit for a 50 trailer loop, its like a Nascar pit crew race to get situated.
If you guys are using a battery monitor shunt like I think you are, we've found our propane furnace to use about 30-40 watts, well within our battery capability for maintaining a temp overnight.
Spent the winter in the desert of Arizona Boondocking not that bad just hook up to go dump . Loved the area .

If I am going to boondock I am going to do it for free. I am able to go 10 days before I need a dump station. I head to a CG for one night, do laundry in the rv, fill up with fresh water and dump black and gray tanks. I did that from June 15 to July 27 in and around GT and Yellowstone. Was awesome!

I added a BD Diesel tap shifter LOVE IT. I can now choose any gear any time.
It included an engine brake. Go down steep hills and never touch the brakes.

I actually wanted to visit Yellowstone the most from watching your channel. I was really not a clueless child when I visited Yellowstone this past July. I knew all the spots, I knew where to go, and it made my trip much more pleasant. When I needed tips to see certain animals in the park, I asked the Rangers. They was very helpful.
Bear with me regarding this intricate camping humor. Why do I get hooked on their channel when it says no hookup? It is not easy to be Norwegian and understand everything. For example, who is Jerry Can? Why is it called greywater, when it is not gray, why is it called black water, now ... ok forget it. And I stood outside for many nights getting to see how the moon can look like honey. Well that's why it says long long. And in Norway, moose is called Elg, but we do not have Elk in Norway. But I love the US and am just a little jealous hehe :)
I couldn't comment on your latest live stream, so I'll do it here. You were wondering about Hot springs, try Goldbug hot spring in Idaho. It includes a good mile hike to get to it. And you can't take the airstream to the trailhead.

Our plastic vented Jerry cans have two handles for hanging on to when filling our tank. Also the sewer tote we call it a honey wagon. Love your info thank you!!
We just got back from an RV park in Vermont. At the initial dump we used the "wife holding the hose" method to hold the elbow in the "open PVC pipe" hookup. During the week we took a tour at Rock of Ages granite quarry. Free samples! I chuckled and thought of Sean while adding the new granite ballast to the sewer hose elbow.

Aslo if you dry camp where there are vaulted toilets talk to the host most places will let you dump gray water in the pit. This liquefies the solids and makes it easier for the septic truck to clean out the vault. South Dakota State parks are good with this practice. The toilet lifts off the concrete mount so you can dump it right in with out lifting your grey water tote.

We were going to really boondock on a few days at the area where Gaby's body was found. Glad we changed plans as they would have kicked us out anyway. So sad. We are set up to boondock with dollar and lithium.

We loved GTNP!! We did a float down the snake river with the GT Lodge Company. Had the best guide (request Kent). We saw three moose in the middle of the afternoon at the end of June. Kent’s theory was that the moose can’t always be dawn and dusk animals if they want to eat enough in the 90 or so frost free mornings they get there every year.

The drainage in the floor of shed, should be fine for gray water. No need to put in the flush tank.
We left there yesterday, hit snow on the way to Dubois. We have had some rather cool nights with no hookups.
You need a 60 gallon water bladder... be so much more easier and saves space when your not using it.

Have you tried Dawn power wash for dishes? Spay, let sit, wipe and rinse. Saves a huge amount of water!

Hey guys, I must say, so far we are the full hook up people when we've been out. This is really our first year of enthusiastic rving. It took my wife a little convincing. She's on board now. We also have a off grid cabin. So we do know what the boondocking is all about. We're planning our 30th anniversary trip for the fall of 2023 to glacier, yellow stone and the tetons. Actually this is my favorite type of camping. Don’t have near the solar you do, just two LA batteries and 200w of portable solar. Just back from 5 days dry camping in the sierras and had no problems, never even thought of breaking out the Honda generator. Sure I had to reposition the panels throughout the day, small price to pay for the silence in the forest.
Speaking of supplies, there is an Albertsons grocery store in Jackson. Sure beats convenience store prices.
Smith's grocery store just south of town is even cheaper!
After following LOLOHO since 2019 and purchasing a 4 year old AS ( read the book) we finally made it to Gro Ventre this summer. (Appropriate tee shirt pic sent earlier) and although it was a little smokey when we were there we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks for getting us started in the right direction!
Jealous of you guys in Jackson without the crowds. Was there this summer and its elbow to elbow in the square, thousands of people. Can't wait to head out full time in the fall. I'll never have to camp with the tourists again. The grey water tote was funny as hell, I use a 60 gallon one when we hit the state parks and I empty my grey tanks daily. My wife and kids wouldn't last one night dry camping. We have 2 full baths and 4 tanks in the fifth wheel and it literally won't last 2 days. You guys are awesome water savers.

Love your videos and this one was no exception. I live my RV adventures through you guys. We can only go as far as 12-15 miles away right now with our work situation. Our favorite state park is just 2 miles away as the crow flies, about 5 miles driving. So I guess I am lucky in some ways. ❤

Love your channel, we only camp about 7 times a year but usually only 1 with electric due to we love our waterfront sites, I feel like you don't need electric we have a generator to top off our 2 camper batteries 10 days without we do no problem without electric we even don't have cell service cause we do the Adirondack mountain range, fill hookups is not camping in my opinion our camper is fine, if people need to get ahold of us the Rangers an get us.

After using one of those back-breaking, un-ergonomic 25-gal gray water containers on tiny wheels during our pop-up camping days, my husband went to the hardware store and bought a plastic 5 gal bucket with a lid. With a sewer cap with garden hose adapter and short hose, there is no mess to dump. The bucket can ride in the back of the truck, and it is much easier to dump at the dump station or in a campground commode. Plus, if you need more than one, they nest when not in use.
Really enjoyed this video. I was in Gros Ventre campground in July and didn't see any moose. I've been missing the moose so much since I moved away from Park City, UT! That big bull was so beautiful. Also liked the demo on the grey water tote. I passed on getting one because I didn't think I handle the weight. Thanks for confirming the capacity and process. After years of learning from y'all we are delighted to share a tip that might help you regarding your smart bottles. We use a D-cell battery operated pump most commonly used for turkey fryer oil transfer to pump from the bags to the fresh. We did our ONLY how to video on it. If you want I'll send you the link, but you can probably get the idea.😉. Great video as always!
Wise move to more to a solar gain site for your campsite. While traveling in our 1955 Airstream Overlander (fully boondoggle outfitted) we always look for full sun exposure. We always try to avoid full hookup sites but now just because of the cost but because we like to exercise our solar system and lithium batteries to keep them fully exercise. LOL !
