Oh thank goodness I found this. I have 3 baby kittens that I'm trying to train. So far, all they know how to do is attack me. They weren't taught that, it just came naturally. 🤕😩
Wow this is amazing 😻 your cat is so cute and smart 😺 very nice and good job love your presentation. my second video was about that but not at all like yours . you did a very awesome job on this one😻
I’ve been seriously thinking about getting a clicker and starting a program with Hambone. Heck, maybe I’ll even make a video about the progress. Great video! 😺👍
Hi, is it possible to train 7 month old kittens? I'm finding it very difficult! Also, instead of sitting, my kittens will swipe at my fingers/hand instead of sitting OR they like to stand up on their legs and I find it hard to guide them to sitting down without getting my fingers swiped at?
Maybe push the treat towards their face slowly so she needs to back up while also bringing it higher. Sounds like if she can paw it, then you’ve got her close to a sitting position, just needs some refining. Best of luck!
Well done! How fun 🤩. You are good to start training your next behavior. Just have an idea in mind of what the progress/progression of steps would look like. Have fun
Why does it remind me of programming? First make a model. Then add behaviour. Script an action when you do smt. Like press W to make em walk. Or say a word and they sit. And done
You can start a variable reward schedule. Cats tend to need the reward more frequently than not. When you are using a treat, try praise or petting as a substitute reward
Sounds stupid but once the behaviour is taught does the clicker become obsolete like he’ll respond to sit without hearing the clicker, also trying to train my cat to not jump on the kitchen counters and have been told the clicker is v effective.
No questions are stupid! Once your cat fully understands the behavior, you don’t need to use the clicker. But make sure to reward them with a treat at least most of the time. As for the counter, the clicker is helpful in communicating to your cat when they are doing the correct thing. So staying on the floor while being tempted to jump on the counter can be rewarded. Otherwise, you may need to use a detergent for when they do jump on the counter. And make sure when you aren’t in the kitchen that nothing tempting is left on there
@@badcatfamily thank you for the reply! So I can reward him with a treat when he’s tempted to jump up and use the clicker so he’ll associate not jumping up with a reward? I read to tempt him off the counter with a treat and when he’s on the floor to reward him and use the clicker, is this as effective? And can I use both methods or is sticking to one best? Yes we keep reminding everyone that the counter tops need to be clean! TIA
If the cat is on the counter and you lure them to the floor with a treat and then reward them for jumping down, then the cat might think they should keep jumping on the counter because you will reward him everytime for getting down. So I would avoid that
Yes. I think of two options: 1. If your cat is motivated by their normal diet, than reward with their normal food. Honestly that’s what I do with my cats unless they are learning something really challenging. 2. You can use toys as a reward. I would make sure you pair a bridge (unique sound to communicate “good job”) with a burst of playtime.
During the training phase, the treat needs to be in the hand for them to learn. But once they understand the hand cue, they will sit without any treats in the hand. However, I always reward them after anyway. Cats really don’t care to please you, they really just do it for the treat 😅
Definitely think I meant to say butt on the floor and also the their back feet are flat on the floor. But kinda came out wrong at once. Great catch I didn’t notice that when editing.
Absolutely. As long as they are motivated by food. And if they aren’t, find a different treat! Enjoy training. It’s a great bonding time with you cat 😊
@@badcatfamily 😂😂😂 he's hooked on just the one kind! 🤦🏾🤣🤣🤣 But maybe I'll try a couple different ones to see if there's one that's even more tasty to him lol
I love him getting impatient while you're talking to the camera 😂😂😂 kitty wants those TREATS!
There was so much impatience that was edited out too 😂😝
@@badcatfamily I want a supercut of only the impatience!
That’s such a good idea! Next time I’ll have to end videos with the blooper reel 😂
3:11 "give me that treat, human" XD Great tutorial #48
😂😂 he’s the rudest cat I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting
Have a clicker and treats, training starts @2:36
This worked! Thank you so much!

What else can I use if I don't have a clicker?

I love cats😻😻
ME TO AND MY CAT GAVE BIRTH TO 6 KITTENS SO NOW I HAVE 7 CATS😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻
But when I put it slightly above my cats head she uses her paws and claws to take it

I wish I taught my cat to sit before I taught her how to gimmie five, now she keeps doing that instead of learning the new trick 🤣
I need to try this! My fluffy cat Layla knows the word chicken by heart! LOL!
With chicken, your training will be unstoppable!
Nice video !
Thank you 🥰
My kitten use to lick her self instead going to me and get her treats 🤦🏻♀️
What happens if you give too many treats? I’ve got a kitten
I did it! :) These videos are so great! I was wondering, is there a specific way you go about introducing a new behavior after the first trick?
Well done! How fun 🤩. You are good to start training your next behavior. Just have an idea in mind of what the progress/progression of steps would look like. Have fun
My new kitten is a Siamese mix idk if that has anything to do with it. But he just does not stop moving and circling. Helppp plz
Why does it remind me of programming?
First make a model. Then add behaviour. Script an action when you do smt. Like press W to make em walk. Or say a word and they sit. And done
Me: gets food for step one
Thank you for the video 😊
I have a question.
Once my cat has learnt the trick,do I need to reward him all the time still?
You can start a variable reward schedule. Cats tend to need the reward more frequently than not. When you are using a treat, try praise or petting as a substitute reward
I have a cat but I don't have a clicker, no wonder why my cat is not doing the commands 😂. Also where could i buy one?
do you always have to use a reward or will they stop needing one over time like a dog?
Excellent trainer, and great student!
Thank you ❤️. Well, he’s sorta bad 😂

@@badcatfamily yeah that makes a lot of sense so the best way is the way you mentioned previously rewarding him for being tempted but not doing it
If you dont have a clicker then with your mouth make your tongue up on your teeth then go down and you make a clicking noise!
My cat who doesn't eat treats but just granules for cats but he doesn't eat granules without the bowl... WHAT IS WITH MY CAAAT
Definitely makes it harder. If they don’t like treats, may have to pair your bridge with a few seconds of play with their favorite toy
My cat scratched me😭
Pretty sure Snap can also be used
Very good suggestion!
Is there a way without treats?my cat only is supposed to eat one treat?can we use toys?
Yes. I think of two options: 1. If your cat is motivated by their normal diet, than reward with their normal food. Honestly that’s what I do with my cats unless they are learning something really challenging. 2. You can use toys as a reward. Does it really work tho? Your cat is sitting because of the treat in your hand..
(Pls don't mistake this comment for hate)

2:46 until their foot touches the floor?

100th like 😌✨
🥺🥳🙏 thank you!!
I gave up it did not work
Ok never mind It worked
Love this thank you 😊
Too cute! Great video guys!
Do you think you can teach any cat to sit? Our cat is 9 months old, I’m about to start the clicker-treat association ☺️
Absolutely. As long as they are motivated by food. And if they aren’t, find a different treat! Enjoy training. It’s a great bonding time with you cat 😊
Ahhhhww 😞 I've already spoiled my baby with treats for no reason 😂😂 is it reversible? Lol
😂aww lucky kitty. Maybe just a different flavor for training?
@@badcatfamily 😂😂😂 he's hooked on just the one kind! 🤦🏾🤣🤣🤣 But maybe I'll try a couple different ones to see if there's one that's even more tasty to him lol
