For me the Pixies wrote and played some of the most important songs of that generation, this being one of those songs. Weezer has the talent and this is a good version. Thumbs up.

Hearing Weezers take on the song is really cool and I'm digging Rivers's vocals. I can see myself being this girl though. Weezer did an entire concert under the name Goat Punishment where they just did Nirvana covers and it's fucking great.

His vocals here are like they've been since "The Green Album", playing it safe (compare his vocals here to anything off "Pinkerton." It's my favorite record, but I feel like the slow build to it's proper stature/initial negative reviews expecting surf so songs was kind of the worst thing that happened to the band.. I am not trying to be mean to you, i apologize if it's coming across that way. I want to recommend their take on a really great Pixies song "Velouria" (I'm sure it's on UA-cam). i always just get sour when I think about Weezer after that album "Beverly Hills" was on ("Perfect Situation"-radio edit- aside). It crushed me. They were the Beatles to me.

It is also down-tuned a half-step, but you can pretty much say that it is inspired lol. But the songs feel completely different so I can see why you would say that it is not.

Last time I saw them Patrick and Rivers switched placed and did Time by Pink Floyd which was way better than it sounds, and they closed the show with Sliver by Nirvana. I'm so glad to here Rivers say that "the old Weez" was influenced by the Pixies when they were picking up their guitars. The Pixies are so undervalued, underappreciated, IMHO. Many bands were influenced in some way by the Pixies, they're just the type of musical geniuses to pick up a trick or two from.
