With Esam seemingly on hiatus and Shinymark losing to King K Rool it would seem as if Pikachu is IRRELEVANT in Today's Meta. Pikachu fatal flaw is that it is a glass cannon leaving it vulnerable to sonic camping at the edge of the stage and Steve building large towers and it dies if it gets touched even by e tier chracters like ganondorf and little Mac. It’s other fatal flaw is that it’s kill power is not very good because most chracters can survive to 144 percent or more with good di. Finally it’s combos really on very good execution to pull off if you mess up to many times eventually players can get out of the combos and it’s strings is like that of a mosquito it takes multiple hits to get a kill confirm and they don’t do that much damage.
Funnily enough Pika probably beats Sonic because tjolt is very annoying for Sonic in neutral
a lot of what you just said is just straight up false, pikachu outcamps sonic, and i will admit steve towers is a gray area for me. you also forget to mention that pikachu has significantly better neutral tools than lil mac and ganon, and if he really wanted to can camp the shit out of both. pikachu is not lacking in kill power either, i can consistently kill at 110 with upsmash, pikachu’s issue is it’s kill confirms which heavily rely on DI or are hard to get (like drag downs). your last statement about pikachu is straight up false as nair loops do 60-70 percent on light weights and even if you mess up you can build off of it really easily and they also just combo in kill confirms like down smash and grab. his combo game is highly technical sure but even if you mess up the combos it’s still a lot of percent. overall pikachu IS high maintenance there’s no denying that but all the reasons you listed are easy to prevent. some better examples of pikachu flaws would be lack of disjoints and over reliance on tjolt
@@ypokes7470 I admit I don’t know everything I can see how being sonic or picachu in that matchup can be annoying for both sides of the battle and about the little Mac and ganondorf you have to land a few attacks first before they one hit ok pichachu plus these matchups are only doable when that player is really good other wise they still lose pretty bad to picachu. I was not aware of the technical stuff because I don’t study those facts that much but I know that picachu has enough problems that at least in top level he has a hard time competing. Plus at top level the flaws I mentioned are exploited much more often. These flaws are not exploited that often on a casual level or local one these flaws are more of an issue in tournaments with the pros than anywhere else.
@@supermariomaker1734 imo i believe pikachu at top level is when he is the best because he can abuse quick attack and tjolt the most effectively, while pikachu has flaws for sure he only struggles in matchups where tjolt is straight invalidated (like ness gnw). pikachu is also a great whiff punisher at top level but at low-mid level pikachu is garbage because pikachu heavily relies on technical skill and neutral that a low-mid level player does not have

Shinymark won a stacked b+ tier like a month ago seems pretty relevant to me. Dude is a top 20 player but he simply can't travel much
Shinymark is GODLIKE. I feel if he could travel more everyone's opinion would change but the fact is unfortunately the vast majority of NA & Japanese top competitive players don't care about pikachu at all
@@ShintaSmash yeah rn he only gets to show off his skills which severely nerfs pika. Pika also just requires precision and a lot of patience in a lot of matchups, which makes him not playable at top level unless you solo main him

im curious what you have to say about Shinymark claiming Pikachu to be top 1 a lot of the time. Is he just the perfect fit for a character with crazy potential or is he just coping? Or are people too quick to give up on a character that's high level of execution isnt rewarding enough to pursue for most
I had to think about this but I would say as TAS Pikachu certainly can overcome and be #1. But we are all human beings, we make mistakes and arent perfect. So in competition I feel you should rank a characters strength on their Matchup Spread as well as results and I feel Pikachu loses / goes even way more characters then maybe the pro's would say. Saying things like "game and watch is barely minus 1 but we can do it" is kinda a clear sign that ya know game and watch is hard as hell probably -2 / -3. I think overall Shinymark believes in pikachu's #1 status but i'd say he be one of the few to say that.

pikachu is the only character in the game that can win a b tier once every 2 years and has people coming out of the woodworks saying hes a top 5 character. I'm pretty sure even characters like captain falcon have better results at this point.
