I've encountered some very good stories about these two, and some where frankly their behavior is completely abominable, and several inbetween... leaving that as it may, some of them, and there's a good solid case I've ran across for their "faith of upbringing", and as one of the most phenominal religious leaders *ever*, Who's birthday celebration is coming up in the near future, would put it, and He was from the same faith as some of those stories about them put those gals once said, or is *attributed* to having said, I'm convinced correctly attributed, that is, in summary, to welcome the stranger is an act of profound charity... as you quoted, even with the apparently annoying conflicts that developed between them, even shown in the episode "Midvale", it was an absolute delight for Alex to find out about this alien gal's background... even when she got jealous of her. And it's clear from their lines that she did get jealous of her!
