    INFORMATION:
    This is an editor and IDM / Glitch Music style sequencer for the Korg Volca Drum. It was created with the programming language "Pure Data" This patch will allow you to control your Volca Drum and to some extent other MIDI Synths. It is open source - free to modify and expand.
    For Linux / Mac OS / Windows
    After downloading the patch you can open it in Pure Data (vanilla) or Purr Data or Plugdata (or other Pure Data software)
    Zoom in and out will help a lot with using the patch.
    With a MIDI Interface Box - send USB MIDI from Pure Data to the box and to the Volca Drum via a MIDI cable.
    The Editor / Sequencer sends to MIDI to parts 1 - 6 the Volca Drum has to be in 1-6 MIDI channel mode. Your Volca Drum may be in this mode already but if not: Hold REC as you switch on the Volca Drum and press one of the part buttons to see the display state " MID 1 - - 6 "

    Pure Data, Purr Data, or Plugdata?
    Pure Data is the original, vanilla software that other Pure Data software is based on.
    You might find it works when others do not work for your computer so try original Pure Data if others have issues for you. It’s a bit more difficult to use, but is the most up to date.
    Purr Data has a much nicer GUI than vanilla and is easier to use because of it. It has additional features and extra content.
    Plugdata can be used as a VST in your DAW. You can use it to make VSTs based on your Pure Data / plugdata patches. It can also be used as Standalone.

    This is amazing. Honestly bringing the most out of such a small but capable digital drum machine. Thanks for your work !!! I’d love to see what you’ve made with it.

    This is CRAZY, I bought the volca drum off my lil bro and just like for him I've let the thing sitting and doing nothing for months. Might finally play with it now that i don't have to go to menu diving hell.

    This is very cool. Thanks for your work on this.
    Apologies for the basic question but I can’t seem to get the sound randomisation working (assuming this is what the random seed is for). When I enter a new seed number and hit enter (when not in edit mode), should the 6 parts be replaced with new randomised sounds? What could i be missing?

    • @noiseaud
      @noiseaud  2 місяці тому

      Hi, Thank you. The random seed generates a new random sequence. The random number generator creates a sequence for the pattern of how the parts are triggered. it's not for randomizing the sounds.

    Hey got this working and it’s awesome. Just one question, is there a way to sync this with Abelton live?

    • @noiseaud
      @noiseaud  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi, thank you. I've not synced it to ableton myself but perhaps a virtual MIDI bus would connect pure data / purr data to ableton .
      "A virtual MIDI bus can be used to send MIDI messages between different applications on the same computer"
      Here is a link about that on ableton's website :
      help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/209774225-Setting-up-a-virtual-MIDI-bus
      An alternative to syncing the software you could record the Volca Drum audio output with ableton while sequencing it with the editor - trim the audio start point and with setting the same BPM you could add additional layers like synths etc along side the recorded Volca Drum audio .
      I hope that helps .

      @@noiseaud cool :) thanks for the in depth response. Yeah ended up seeing Abelton to the same Bpm and warped the audio to be in time. Ended up working :) thanks for making this software btw. It’s awesome.

    the susteined notes in the background... is the volca drum? This video push me to get a midibox and try to connect my linux machine with the volca drum.

    • @noiseaud
      @noiseaud  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi, only the drums were created from the Volca Drum. The background notes are from paulstretched audio. You can create atmospheric ambient music out of wav files with Paulstretch which is for extreme time stretching. For Linux I recommend getting Paulstretch from the kxstudio repositories.

    couldn't create "vs.niter 2". Where is it?. I can't find it, abstraction or file. Thanks!

    • @noiseaud
      @noiseaud  11 місяців тому +1

      Hi, I saw that error too but this "vs.ninter 2" doesn't seem to be part of my patch. it could be just a bug but if it is all working fine then it can be ignored. I have tested in on mac, windows and linux and no problems have been found. Sometimes the error messages don't mean anything is broken. Are you able to use the volca drum editor / sequencer without any issues? let me know - if nothing is broken - this weird error message can be discarded

      @@noiseaud Yes, there is a problem with the seed random number in vanilla (it doesn't bang a random number) but the whole patch works perfect in Purr. I'm using AV Linux (Debian). Congratulations and thanks for this patch, great and very inspiring work!.

      Thanks for letting me know about the seed number in vanilla, I'll look into it. Thank you very much for your feedback :) and I am glad it is working perfect in Purr Data.@@eloyplatas262

    Hiya, what MIDI interface do you use between the computer & volca?

    • @noiseaud
      @noiseaud  Місяць тому +1

      Hi, I have been using iConnectMIDI2+ by iConnectivity which is now a discontinued device. iConnectivity have a product called mio which can be used to send MIDI to the Volca from the computer. Some audio interfaces also have a MIDI in and out.

    work in the pure data vst?

    • @noiseaud
      @noiseaud  11 місяців тому +1

      It isn't optimized for use with pure data as a VST / plug data . It could work as it is within a pure data as VST but it wouldn't communicate with the VST host / DAW without being amended to work that way. If it helps at all you could use it as standalone and send the Volca Drum Audio into a DAW if you want additional FX or something else to use in a DAW which involves audio.
